Short one FP+ for new guest - Ideas?

We have a upcoming trip to WDW April 26 - May 1. When we booked there were 3 of us, and we booked all of our FP+ at 60 days out. Last week, my DH decided to invite another family member along on the trip. We got him added to the resort, bought a ticket, and got our dining reservations updated. I was able to update almost all of our FP+ to include our 4th guest on MDE, which was super nice. Seems like Disney anticipates this scenario, and makes it easy to add additional guests to most reservations.

We failed on two FP+ - Frozen Ever After (which I fully expected), and Kiliminjaro Safaris (which was not expected at all). We are only at AK in the AM (have lunch ressies at resort), and all of the available times are in the afternoon. And I am not enthusiastic about the stand-by line - Safari on stand-by is brutal!

My question is... Is there a cast member at our Resort (staying at Beach Club) or on Disney property, or online, that I could contact to see if they can make some Disney magic happen to get us that one extra Safari FP+? I am not expecting it to happen, but can't do much else on MDE, and wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and was able to get that one extra FP+? I only want this for Safari - my teen son is not a fan of Frozen, so he is going to TestTrack instead.

Have you tried looking for overlapping times just for that one guest? Instead of "modify party", tried searching for any times around then that might overlap by say a half hour or so? They're usually pretty easy to get for one person. I would just continue to look at well since they usually come up frequently as people cancel, even a couple days or or day of. If not, you could ask at the resort nicely and I bet they'd give you one. Or worst case, when you get to the ride just explain the situation as the rest of you scan and I'd give you like 99% odds that they'd just wave them through as well.

And an overlapping FP return window was not available when you searched for that Safari ride?

If you can't find an overlap, it's up to the discretion of the CM at the FP touchpoint and if your complete group has FPs minus that 1 person, the CM will more than likely wave him through.

Like others have mentioned, I'd start by looking for just one FP with an overlapping time. Single FPs are usually not too difficult. If one is not available, have you considered arriving for park opening and doing the safari first thing? I normally do AK as a morning park before hopping to another park where we have after FPs, so have not used FP+ at AK at all. We usually head to the safari first thing and walk right on or have a very minimal wait.

This exactly.

Yes, that is exactly what I am doing. When I could not get a morning FP+, I booked him for the afternoon one, hoping something would open up. So I check MDE a couple times a day for just the one guest. Maybe what is hurting this effort is that we have the second FP of the day at 10:15, so if there is something at 9:30, it will not show up because of the overlap.

So I went into MDE and cancelled his 10:15 FP to open up the times up through 11:20. Still nothing in the morning at all. Looked at all the available times and nothing earlier than noon. I had no idea KS was so popular!

That does seem really weird. I'm local and can only look 30 days out but when I look most days near the end of the window I see all morning times available. I can't see how they'd be full for the days that aren't even open yet to book unless you're onsite unless there's something else going on. What day are you looking for?

Not knowing all your plans but have you looked at getting a new time for all of you instead of just trying to fit him into yours?

I have had luck at guest services in the parks. They have been able to match me up with the rest of my family. I don't know if it's a given, but worth a shot.

You may be on to something. I had the same issue- no FP available for Safari in the AM the first week of May. I got the exact times I wanted on all other rides, except FEA and SDMT (but those are to be expected). I've continued to check and still nothing in the morning. It's weird.
