Thinking about using the family points to go down to WDW in late Aug or early Sept. My question is am I going to be able to get a studio for a weekend? Do you think it will be completely booked already?

Hard to say - it could be. 60 days prior, DVC often sends any unreserved points inventory over to CRO to rent for cash. Members still have access to those rooms, but they are competing with the general public for them. Since Disney was offering the free dining for August & September stays, it is very possible that the studios were all booked up - by guests paying cash via CRO - especially for the weekend nights.

That said, if you are flexible with your choice of resorts and weekends, I think you will be able to put a weekend trip together somewhere.

Best wishes -

I just booked 4 nights in a studio early last week for a trip on Sept 1-5.

We didn't really have any preference on this trip. If you don't care too much where you stay, you should be okay. We will be at SSR, not one of our 3 home resorts but one we enjoy. Good luck.

I called last week looking for a studio for Sun 7/31-Wed 8/3 and OKW was available. Its not the same scenario as a weekend, but it is peak summer time and I was calling less than 3 weeks in advance, so you never know. Good luck!

I just called on 7/13 for a studio on 8/23-8/26. BCV wasn't available, BWV had different views available (means I'd have to move during those days), but there was availability at VWL, SSR, and OKW.

Thanks! I'll have to talk to the family today and see what points we have available and get moving. I hope to be able to go Aug 27-29. The airfare is cheapest for that weekend!

I am not sure about a studio, but I was able to book a 1BR at BCV for September last Monday. There should be some availability somewhere on property.

I just made reservations a week ago for this Thurs - Sun. A studio at OKW. The timing and airfare worked out. They only had a studio at OKW, which is what I wanted, but I did check for the beginning of this week at all the resorts and they were booked. So, yes it does work on short notice, if you're flexible. Isn't DVC great?

Yes I am fairly flexible. I have about 3 weekends to choose from and would be happy with any DVC except SS. Since SS is the newest I figure that would be gone anyway. Love DVC!

Just called member services. The weekend I really wanted has everything available except BWV standard view room. Now to just convince my dad to let me stay at BCV instead of OKW...someone tends to be a lil cheap! :earseek:

This is a question only MS can answer for you - give them a call.

Studios are available. I just made a ressie at OKW for 8/19-8/21 a few minutes ago. I don't know the availability of the other resorts as I was borrowing points and wanted the least "expensive" studio.

No SSR has never been booked to this point. You will always be able to get in there IMO. I think of it as an overflow property. You don't hear too many people saying it is there first choice. It is not even on my list. I'd stay off property at a Marriott timeshare paying cash before SSR again. OKW tends to be the other resort with constant availability. Good luck and hope it works out for you.

I bet for a few people it actually is their 1st choice.

I tried for a few days on late notice in June... SSR was FULL! Had to pay cash for a moderate!

(And I really like SSR!)
