Shore Excursion Questions

Hi! We just booked the 7 day western itinerary on the Magic and I have a few questions about the shore excursions.

Are the best snorkeling trips thru Disney or are there better ones? We have always enjoyed the Fury catamaran types on the eastern and in Key West.

What about Stingray City - is there a better one that the one Disney offers?

I guess I just wonder why people choose excursions not thru Dsieny - are they better? Thanks so much for any input!

Also if anyone can recommend excursions - we are a family of 4 (2 teenaged boys) and we enjoy the water.

Nothing really wrong with the Disney excursions but you can get them for less money and with smaller groups when you book them on your own and often you can more options.

In Grand Cayman you can book through Grand Cayman Cruise Excursions or Cayman Islands Discounts and get some very good excursions. There is horseback riding on the beach (not offered by disney) and you can get stingray city trips with Captain Bryan(Catamaran) with a lot less people and for at least $10 per person less. You can also charter your own sailboat to stingray city...rent a boat, do scuba resort coarses and other stuff on your own.

There is also a section on free beaches if you want something inexpensive.

Thanks for the info! I am off to check out the other excursions. I like the sound of less people on an excursion. We did book thru Disney for excursions in Key West and Cozumel but just didn't see exactly what we were wanting in Grand Cayman.
