SO I went to Shoprite yesterday. Now I do use coupons and I play by all their rules. So yesterday I went and you can only use 4 like coupons per order. So I get up there and there is a new sign. That you can't use any "gang" cut coupons. Which I found out are coupons that were cut together. So the manager came over and rejected most of my coupons.
So I then bought what I had coupons for and went to the car.
Recut the coupons so they didn't look "GANG" cut. went back in and purchased the rest of the items.

Really why are they being so impossible?????
The crazy couponers like me will go around it (like I did).

anyone else have to deal with craziness like this?

I have never had this happen, nor have I ever heard of "gang cut" coupons before. I often stack sheets of coupons atop one another in order to save time when cutting them out.

I wonder how they would feel if you whipped out your scissors right at the checkout and trimmed each coupon to satisfy them?

I'm close to not shopping there for most of my groceries. At least at Stop n Shop you can scan your own coupons at the check out and they even comp you a free item if the price is wrong :goodvibes

Yesterday they wouldn't let me use an internet coupon because it had "Redeemable at Walmart" right below the picture of the item. I have never had that problem at Shoprite or other stores. I even argued with them saying it's still a manufacture coupon and doesn't say "Only Redeemable at Walmart".

And last month they wouldn't let me use an internet BOGO free coupon!

They had a whole page of new no no for coupons, I was so frustrated. The only reason I shop there is that all the other food stores around me (I live in a small town) have closed and the food store in the next town is another shoprite and a Wegmans. I have heard wegmans is a bit pricy but I might have to give them a try.
this is getting out of control with their "crazy" rules.
I don't understand why the manufacturers make the coupons for the store only to make it so hard to use them. They are getting the money back from the manufacturers.

I don't work for Shoprite, but I do work for a large grocery store and I can answer your questions based on our policies.

I have never heard the term "gang coupon" but we do not accept coupons that are all together for a few reasons:
* It is hard to scan 1 without scanning the others so it takes more time at the registers. May not seem like a big deal to you but we are required to scan a minimum of 25 items per minute (IPM's) and this can really slow things down. The IPM rule is in place to keep the customers from having to spend time in long check out lines. You may not mind the extra time it takes, but there are a lot of customers who do not like waiting in line behind customers with a lot of coupons.
* The coupons have to be cut apart before we send them in for redemption so if you don't do it, the store has to pay someone to do it. If we had to cut even half of the coupons that we receive on a busy day it would mean adding on another employee just for that. Do you want to pay someone else to cut your coupons?

* If the coupon says "redeemable at Walmart" we will not get reimbursed for it so that is why we will not take it.

* There are so many fake coupons available on the internet that we do not accept any free or BOGO internet coupons. If the coupon is fake we do not get reimbursed, which eventually causes prices to be higher to make up for the losses.

I hate double coupon days because there are a lot of coupon shoppers that are not honest and are just trying get by with using too many coupons, coupons for the wrong items, or fake coupons. It takes a lot of time to sort through and make sure everything is legitimate.
To the honest coupon shoppers it seems like we are just trying to make things hard for them, but that is not the case. We are just trying to keep the prices down for everyone.

Just to clarify on the first two points, she is saying it is a problem to have the coupons cut together at the same time - not all on one sheet. So, hers are already cut and they are restricting them.

I remember when there were high-value coupons commonly available and rebates for which you could mail in pieces of product packaging and get back high-value coupons for free products or checks in the amount of $5, $10, and up.

People started collecting UPCs from dumpsters or recycling bins and renting post office boxes or pretending to have multiple apartments at their houses in order to get more money. The idea of the coupons and the rebates was to sell more products, not to pay out on what had been sold, and multiple submissions by the same individuals using fake addresses was mail fraud. The good days of componing and refunding went away because a few ruined it for the many that played by the rules.

Gang-cut coupons were from coupon inserts that were stacked and cut together and the coupons traded or sold (against the rules). Sometimes coupon inserts would be stolen from the newspaper distributors or carriers' homes for this purpose. Sometimes they came from recycling collection centers.

Our local Shop Rites accept coupons up to one dollar for doubling. There is a limit of how many per day and how many alike can be used at one time. Because some Internet coupons are fakes due to ease of copying, these are often not accepted because the store will not get money for them.

I do not believe this to be true. There are ones that state "Only redeemable at Walmart" and those that just advertise a certain store. And when it's a coupon that's only valid at a specific store, the fine print will state that as well.

I get my coupons from my neighbors who take the ones they want and we pass the rest around. They are distributed every thursday by the local newspaper for free.
The rules at shoprite are no more then 4 alike coupons per transaction.
then it became no more then one transaction at a time.
then no more then one transaction per day per store.

Every time they change the rules I stay within them.
I also try to only go once a week to save on gas.
It's not like I am trying to buy 100 of the same item for free like you see on some of those tv shows.
I just want to get the 4 per my order (their rules)

I also shop for my church group and I use the coupons that the group gets together for the food bank and for dinner they host for the poor. I don't get paid for my gas or time for this. Trying to do this the right way but they are making it harder and harder.

Can you use the coupons which you load to your Price Plus card from their website or app in addition to manufacturer coupons or is it one or the other?

Wow! I am a Shop Rite shopper and a couponer but have not heard about this. Crazy! Soon no one will take any coupons!

Couponing is not what it is used to be. ShopRite has the best couponing around here.
