So I had a few more gifts to buy and decided to head over to the local mall. I went into Mervyn's to look for some stuff and also because I had a coupon for 15% off. So i get what i needed and get in line. When it is my turn the cashier that calls me is the same lady who last week just left her register, leaving 6 people (including myself) inline without even calling someone else to cover for her or tell us where she was going. So i just had a feeling something was going to happen. So i giver her my items and then my coupon. She takes it as says "what's this?" I'm think "Well you work here you should know and if you don't know then maybe reading it would help!" So I got this coupon last week when I opened an account. So it says "You may use this certificate (before it expires- Dec 26) as many times as you want on the day of your choice." So i figure since I hadn't used it before I would use it. Well according to Miss Friendly, I can only use it on the day it was given to me. :confused3 So i say "Well why does it say I can use it on the day of my choice then??" So she looks at it and reads it outloud to me. I say "yeah it says on the day of my choice and I want to use it today." So then she calls over the manager and gives her the coupon. The manager then says "YOu can only use this on the day it was given to you." So I say "Well then why does it say I can use it on the day of my choice??" She decides to read it outloud to me too, as if I can't read and when she gets to the part about using it on the day of my choice she kind of stutters and says "Ohh...well it's not very clear but go ahead and give it to her." WTH?!! :confused3 :confused3 I don't know how much clearer it could be! Would anyone else interpret it to mean it could only be used on the day I got it? It just frustrates me becasue the employees and managers have no idea what the company is giving to their customers and everyone is in such a grumpy mood! It's the holidays people cheer up! :p

Thanks for listening!

This story reminds me of last month when I got my kids' pictures taken at Sears. I had a coupon that said "Portrait Sheets: $2.99 each when you buy 8. Regular price $7.99." So I picked out my eight sheets, expecting the total to be about $24.00. ($3 each x 8). Nope. It was closer to $65.00. They then tried to tell me that it was $2.99 each AFTER you buy 8 AT the regular price. I called BS on that one, told them it was misleading and false advertising. They did lower the price, but not all the way down. So I knocked a bunch of pictures off my order.

The kicker was, when I went to pick up the pictures, they had forgotten to take off the ones I removed from the order. So I got the 8 sheets anyway, and ended up paying less than I would have if they'd just given me the advertised price! And it was the SAME LADY who I had spend 3 hours with - taking pictures, selecting pictures, arguing over the price - just a couple weeks before.

Moral of these stories: read the fine print and don't assume that just because they work there, they know what they're talking about.
