Hiya

Ok now we all know I am a shopaholic, and with just over 9 weeks to go I am looking around web sites of th shops I am going to go to in september.

And I have some Qs as always, (times a ticking by)

Right Yankee candles, hows best to pack them do you think? should I buy bubble wrap? and wrap them up, do you think they will be ok. I am wanting to buy a few so wheres best to go I have only ever been to the store at the florida mall.

Onto Department 56 I love the halloween village and intend on buying somepieces this year, now these may not fit in the case, so should they be strapped together and go as fragile?

Wheres the best place to get disney sing a long dvd movies from, my niece loves the ones that used to be out here and they do new ones in the states.

I am getting Chris a psp is the best place walmart they are selling them at $199.00

Sorry for all the questions but I am getting my things and thoughts together, plus I have had a hard day with my sister and need to unwind

The Beall's stores sell Yankee Candles, as do Hallmark :thumbsup2
The price was uniform throughout all the stores though and the Yankee Candle Store carried more fragrances so I, personally, wouldn't shop around :sunny:

Try the Patriot Candles in Walgreens too.
Yummy smells at around a third of the price of the Yankees. They also sell Betty Crocker ones :sunny:

We had a polystyrene cooler and brought the candles home in that, inside a hard case :)

That is a great idea Alison!

I don't have a hard case and I always wrap towels and clothes around things like that.

DW usually uses the plastic cases you get in the Yankee Candle store for the votives and we sandwich them between layers of clothing in our bags. Anything bigger that comes in the glass jars we just make sure are well wrapped in our luggage. We haven't had any come home less than perfect yet - touch wood ;)

Anna - Why don't you buy Chris his PSP over here before you go? If you shop around the price shouldn't be that much different and he'll have the added advantage of being able to use it on both legs of the journey :teeth:

Just a quick warning that if you are going to use it to watch the official UMD films, that these are region coding. Thus US ones will play Region 1's and UK Region 2

I was going to ask whether this would be so, bearing in mind that PS2 games from, the US, won't play on our PS2 players :)

Hiya I have to disagree on that one as we brought my nephew one home for christmas lat year from the states and it plays both the usa umds and the uk ones

$199 would be a stunning deal for a PSP (can you bring me one back too? ;) ) but UMD movies are still stupidly expensive. Ghostbusters, a 20+ year old movie sells in the UK on UMD for as much as £17 but on DVD for £2.99. How daft is that?!

DS got the memory stick and just downloads things he wants to watch

Hi Anna
As the resident shopping expert on the DIS shouldn't we be asking you the shopping questions? :rotfl:
Anyway if you have a cheaper DVD player then you can normally play any area DVD but if you have a brand name, we have a S**Y one, then you can't, as you said.
If you are bringing candles back I would wrap them in some loo roll and then pack inside your clothes, saves mucking around with bubble wrap.

the resident shopping expert I like that lol

Well I am off shopping now lol

Can I add something since your talking about Yankee Candles? If you go to www.yankeecandle.com/coupons and put in your info (email addy, etc) they will email you a $10 off $25 coupon right away. Print it out and take it with you, but don't sign up until closer to your trip because those coupons do expire.

Also, the candles can get melty in the Florida heat so don't leave them in your car or anywhere hot.

Last thing--I think you can order them from their catelog, and I think it's a flat shipping rate of $35 for international. (you can use your $10 off coupon online too.) They carry a bigger selection online/catelog than even in the stores. They do sell them in the UK as well, you can find information from their website I think.

HTH and sorry for butting in!

Thanks for this info. I might have a look at printing off a coupon for when I go in December :thumbsup2
