Shopping options at resorts........

I am wondering what kind of shops there are available. Like if i forget to pack something, aspirin, kids tylenol, etc.........are things available to purchase anywhere?

Yes, each resort has a gift shop that offers toiletries and OTC medications -- I've purchased Sudafed, diaper rash cream, Benedryl, Band-Aids, saline solution...just a few that come to mind. They're pretty costly compared to what you might buy at home, so it's better to bring your own, but most basic needs are covered in case you forget something.

Yes, the gift shops stock most of those items you mentioned. But I just like to add, they seem to only carry the "small" sizes. For example, one year I ran out of diaper wipes; the store didn't sell the "tub" size; just the travel size -- yet it cost just as much as the larger one would have. There are stores just off property, if you have a car, that I think would be worth the trip!

I was once in the meds isle at one of the gift shops, and a clerk also told me if there was anything I needed that they didn't have, they could get it delivered for me. I didn't end up using the service, but they said they could get anything delivered, even prescriptions if needed. I didn't find out about prices though.

Another place that has some baby needs/meds is the child care center/nuse's station in each park. I once needed Benadryl at MK, and they had all kinds of basic meds available in travel sizes. Maybe not the ideal prices, but it can be had.

If you have a car, there are lots of places around too. Like 24hour Walgreens; they're all over Orlando.

Also, right near WDW, off I-4 is an outlet mall where you can pick up lots of items. My sister once had to buy new sneakers shortly after arriving. Next to the outlet mall is a Publix grocery store. There's also a Walmart in the area. If you really had to, it would be pretty easy to get a taxi over to one of these, too.

One thing I've discovered is that moleskin is a very useful thing to bring to WDW. It has lots of uses.

I've had to use the perscription service more than once over the years. It worked very well. I don't know if the prices were good or not because we have a perscription plan. I paid the bill and submitted it for reimbursement when I got home.

Like the other posters have said, they carry a good variety of just about everything in the gift shops at each hotel. However, expect to pay 3x the price for only a few or a small size of what you need. Still, it's nice to have it available!!!They even carry beer and wine. : )

Just an FYI, for some items like Tylenol (or any alternative pain med), band aids and the like, you can always head over to a first aid station and they will give it to you at NO cost...I think there may be a few other things they offer, but am not too sure on what they are. It never hurts to stop by and ask if there is a need you may have...and they will give you a few extra for later too.

Another FYI - make sure you take a thermometer with you. I got sick at WDW earlier this year and needed to buy a thermometer at our resort (POFQ). The only thermometer sold there (and I found out later, at any WDW resort) is the forehead type, which is not very accurate.
