Do you do much shopping in the US? I find I can buy nice clothes cheaper there, but the discount stuff is the same as in Ontario. (Price at Old Navy, Walmart etc) I do like going to Target though and bought lots of stuff there for the kids.
Any special buys people look for when going to the US? I always look for SHOES!! I love JCPenneys. The price is always right and I find the clothes have a nice look to them. I also splurge at Victoria's Secret, even though I just bought some online stuff there (swimsuit) so don't think I will go this time. I love my swimsuit. Don't think I will be going back to the Bay for a swimsuit again!

I don't shop in the US unless I'm on vacation. And even then, its not for things like clothing. Its for things like souvenirs and anything that I actually need. I can find any clothing that I want in Canada for about the same price with the duty.

Hi fron Southern Ontario. I LOVE shopping in the states. A friend told us to go to Ross's. Well my DD12 and DD16 flipt out. Its like our Winners. My DD16 found Roxi,Billabong, O'Neal ect at GREAT prices. I also found a great well known bathing suit I think under $25.00. We also hit the Disney outlets while DH goes to Bass Pro Shop.

I go over at least once a month to "shop". I check out the Disney stores!
I go to Tops and Wegmans for food. I go to Avenue, for my plus size clothes, cause I like the way they fit. I check out Target, Walmart and Kmart to see what they have on sale. I usually take friends with me, that don't go over that often. I do the Amerherst and Niagara area.
I have no problems with immigration going or coming back.

I'm not sure if these chains are up in NY state, but besides Ross you should also try Marshall's (same sort of stuff), and Kohl's - my FAVOURITE US store. Everytime my parents come down we take them to Kohls.
You should check them out sometime.

:cool1: Oh yeah, this is a great topic, shopping, and we love to shop in the US,and find so much we can't get here. For clothes,we really like LL Bean in Maine, and for chains, all the Big Dog stores,Dress Barn Woman, the lingerie outlets, and much more.....
You name it, we love it,love to shop in tax free New Hampshire.Maine is also a fun place to shop.Usually when we're in Orlando,we're just at Disney properties so don't do much other than Disney shopping there. And,we love that too!
When it comes to shopping,we're easy to get along with! :flower:
Have fun,
Kirsten :cloud9:

I love all those discount and outlet stores. DH and DS bought out half the Adias outlet store the other day...they got some amazing sales, way cheaper than at home (Manitoba). I love sweatshirts and have found some great sweatshirts (good quality) at great prices at those bargain/budget stores...I bought 4 already because of the lovely colours such as soft blues, pinks yellows...colours hard to find lately..they were all on sale for 14.00, but unfortunately they all say Florida on them, lol.

Whenever I am in the States, I have to go to Bath and Body works. It is my absolute favorite store in the entire world-if you saw how much reserve I have in my bathroom, you would know I am telling you the truth - it is so much better than Body shop by far.
I also have to make a stop at the outlet malls, because I will never see some of those prices here in Canada.
Also, I have to shop at Victorias Secret (I love their undergarments) and Sephora's for a makeup stock.

I'm with you on Victoria's Secret! I love their stuff.

They've just put a Sephora in the Toronto's Eaton Centre - can West Edmonton Mall be far behind?

I love shopping in the US. I'm like ChrisJo ... I love going to Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works and Sephora :) I think the outlet malls have better discounts than the malls here. But even in the regular malls, I've found that shoes and cosmetic products are generally cheaper than what you'd pay in Canada even with the exchange.

The Sephora at the Eaton Center isn't as big as some of the Sephoras I've been to in the States but it's still lots of fun :) Hopefully, you'll get one in Edmonton soon Tabetha.

I love your posts, Calena! We're going next month for spring break, and I've been looking for info on tickets, shopping, etc., and your posts always seem to cover my own questions.

We always love shopping in the U.S. (California, Oregon, Washington, and Orlando). There are better styles and often cheaper prices even after the exchange.

You may want to go to the Belz outlet and orlando premium outlet websites. (forget what the websites are...do a google search). There are online coupons that you can print out ahead of time so you can maximize your savings. As well, you can get a store listing and see if you find specific stores you want to visit. I'm a big fan of Coach, Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, Old Navy, and Skechers. Have fun shopping! I'll be there myself on Easter Sunday -- can't wait!!!!

Here's to hoping....of course, it did take them an awful long time to open Zora's in WEM, so who knows. I actually know some people who are trying to get the rights to open a Sephora's in Edmonton, but it wasn't going very well, and I think they gave up. It wasn't going very smoothly, and they were having a hard time with the company. They moved onto something else, but I was trying to encourage them to keep trying, but they realized that it wasn't going to happen any time soon.

We LOVE going over to the States to shop!!! Whenever we venture down to Niagara Falls (which is quite often!) we always go over to the outlet malls across the border and Target and Walmart (for some reason American Walmarts are sooo much better than Canadian Walmarts) I am so lucky because my DH loves to shop as much as I do so it is never a fight to go. We get so much kids clothes every year from OshKosh, Gap, Old Navy etc that is soooo much cheaper than here in Canada...even with duty. I have never been to Kohls but have heard good things about it. Not sure if they have one in Niagara Falls New York or around that area. Half the reason we love to go on vacation is to shop and eat at different places than we get to at home! We are heading down to Niagara Falls for our annual March Break shopping trip next week!! Can't Wait....wish our Tax refunds would get here in time!!!! :Pinkbounc

I shop in the US all the time. nyuk, nyuk, nyuk. :rolleyes1

Taking a little jaunt over the border myself on Sunday, just a day thing. I do like all the different products to be found in the grocery stores actually. This time I'm heading down for sugar-free candy and food since we don't have a lot of choice here in Canada. Unfortunately they've done away with the DS in Bellingham :(

We are going to the states to go shopping tomorrow! It is a completely different atmosphere than shopping here (perhaps because the purpose is to shop and then I don't feel guilty!). We will be hitting Target and K-mart mostly, anything else will be bonus. Oh I also like JCPenneys. Can't wait.

We are heading over to the prime outlets tomorrow and hitting Target and Walmart. We usually find alot of deals on kids clothes even if we have to pay duty it still works out cheaper! We usually go about 3-4 times per year and find some excellent deals. Anyone else going on wednesday? Your welcome to follow us, we'll be in that silver car............ :rotfl2:

I live in Southern Ontario too. We go over at least once a month. Being plus sized the clothing options here (unless I want to dress like Im 65) are 100% better there.

We are actually going this upcoming weekend. We go to Walden Galleria to check out the Disney store. Buy some Disney dollars for our upcoming trip. Head to Old Navy ( they have a plus size section there), Lane Bryant. Torrid. Defiantly have to go to Target. And then we usually go to the Prime Outlet and Tops on our way out. Its a long day but its good fun.
