I'm planning a free day on my upcoming vacation to do some shopping. What are the not-to-be-missed stores, malls or outlets in Orlando?

I think I've tried them all over the years. My favourites are the new(ish) Mall at Millenia (state of the art mall with a mix of designer and regular stores, 3 department stores - Bloomingdales, Macy's and Neiman Marcus, and some decent restaurants); the Florida Mall; and, on the discount front, the Premium Outlets.

The Premium outlet mall is a good place to shop close to Disney. You can pick up some great bargains. If you have a AAA card, show it at the Customer Services center in the Food Court and they will give you a coupon book. Plus, they have a Starbucks. Yummm....

I hit the Belz factory outlets for the Disney outlets, birkenstock, osh kosh, gap, carter's. There are excellent bargains to be had there!! I always bring an empty suitcase :teeth: . The premium outlets are too rich for my blood. I love being able to buy my ds carter's pj's for 3 bucks! Jen

I like to hit Beltz too. We like to go to the Universal, Hard Rock and Disney outlets.

Blez has now become Prime Outlets and will be undergoing a (much needed) face lift in the near future. If you visit Prime Outlets be sure to hop across the street and take a look at Festival Bay. Not so much a bargain-shopping experience, but they have some lovely stores.

Premium Outlets has excellent shopping (I got a Tommy Hilfiger watch listed at $150 for my son, for only $20!!), as does Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores (up the 535 a bit). The Malls are good but if you are an American they are pretty standard for what you can find at your local mall (with Mall at Millenia having a bit more range). If you are a Brit or a foreign guest with good currency exchange, they're a fabulous place to start.

Florida Mall is run of the mill mall stores, and CROWDED--mostly with tourists teehee!

I prefer to shop at Mall at Millenia, which has a nice selection of stores and great anchors.

Anne (Who's going to hit Premium Outlets next weekend hopefully!)

Anne, I couldn't agree with you more!! I went to the Florida Mall today...never again on a weekend!!!! It was so crowded, almost as bad as Disney in the summer!

My best friend is coming to visit next weekend and we will be going to the Premium Outlets and Mall at Millenia, those are by far my two favorite places to shop. I dislike Belz (now Prime), it seems to me to be very run-down.

Sandy22, you didn't say if you had a car. All of the above posts are great. You also might want to go to a flea market. The one I like is on 192 across from the older (as opposed to the new) Walmart. There is also a farmers market in Celabration beginning in Oct. on Sundays.
