Hi folks:
Just wondering if any of you have shopped from the disney store online and, if so, were there any extra or hidden charges (like duty) that you have to pay upon receiving your shipment? I really want to order a few things but fear I may pay double upon arrival. Any input would be appreciated.
Happy holidays to all and best wishes for the new year!

yes there is duty upon arrival. I can't remember how much it was when I ordered online though. I did just ship home the castle playset from disney and paid shipping there and $7 duty when it got here

The duty is not bad, normal tax rate, but sometimes there is also a $10-15 UPS processing fee. They do ship very quickly, though!

I think there is no extra charges for anything..!! You can enjoy your shopping from it..!!

We paid Duty and UPS fees. they shipped fast and we got what we wanted but we paid for it. It was costumes for DD. Then they did not fit and we had to pay to ship it back for the exchnage. Their sizing wasn;t correct online. :(
I am hesitant to shop with them again.

I used to buy off the site a couple times a year when it the sales were really good, but I had to order lots to make it worth the $35+ shipping charge. Last year I ordered two jackets and a few shirts and pjs and UPS came by when my dh was home and I was at work and asked for $66 in duty! Between the duty and the shipping charges I don't think it's worth it anymore. I could have taken that $100 and stayed in Buffalo for the night and had the package shipped to the hotel for only a few dollars. From them on anytime I know we are staying over night in the US I check the site a week in advance and place my order and have it held for us until we check in. It's worked well for me!

Wow, that is some crazy duty and shipping charges! :scared1:

I was going to order some Oso toys for my DD as I cannot find them anywhere around here or at the Target in Niagara. But not if I could end up paying double.

Thanks for the heads up!

I think it depends on what you purchase and how it is delivered if duty is charged. For example for all of the D23 stuff the send the magazines and membership through regular mail. They did send last year as a special bonus for inaugural members who renewed a pin which they sent via fed ex. Also they tend to send most other things via Fed Ex (which has a deal with Canada Customs to act as it's own coustoms broker, so any duty or extra taxes is covered in there fee.) they also use UPS to ship to Canada too and if there are extra charges they will let you know on drop off, the same thing goes with anything delivered by the US Post office/ Canada post.

OK wish me luck - I just purchased some things ! already $19.95 in shipping (did not accept the free shipping code). We'll see how fast they deliver and how much I get charged when it arrives!

The only time I order from them is when we are going to Disney. I have it shipped to the resort so the shipping charges are minimal and there's no duty.

However, I believe that some resorts are now charging for accepting packages so that would need to be factored in as well.

I was going to do this... but I was worried about the resorts acceptance and how far out you need it. The shipping is very fast. And what I ordered we do not NEED for the trip. I couldn;t resist their sale :headache:

Let us know how duty is upon arrival.
I'll have to head over to their website and check out these amazing deals, although not sure I can find anything better than the $14.99 princess dresses I scored at the Vaughan Mills disney store this past wknd.

I just placed an order before Christmas and it was here in less than a week! I ordered 2 stuffed characters (2 for 1!!) and a Disney calender and the shipping was 14.99. The gst due on arrival was 3.14. Well worth it I say!!!!

I have previously ordered about 7 days out and had it delivered to our resort with the free shipping code!

I haveorder form the dinsney store online and never paid any duty. Ship usuing the post ]al service not fed ex or UPS. They will always charge a broakerage fee ($30) and duty. USPS shipping is cheaper and canada post rarely seams to check packages. For the rare times they do the duty is small and fee is $5 for broker.

I'm trying to make an order from Ontario and it's saying it can't ship to the address. Am I getting a glitch or is this a new policy?

EDIT: Turns out the Marvel pants don't ship international. It's the boy in our groups fault :D
