Shopping at Disney

I have shopped at Downtown Disney and I loved it. I didn't do much shopping at the parks. Are there great places to shop in the parks, or are the best things at Downtown Disney? I am not talking about anything in particular, just great shops with plenty of merchandise and MAYBE good prices. Are there some must see shops even if you don't buy?

Quality is a pretty subjective question.

But I have found that it's hard to find park-specific or resort-specific items at Downtown Disney. If you want items that specifically feature Magic Kingdom or MGM theming, make sure you check out the parks.

The Birnbaum's WDW guide has a good, concise list of each shop at each park, along with brief one or two sentence descriptions of the type of items they carry.

I'm partial to the shops in Disney Studios. The gift shop in your resort is one place to pick up items exclusive to the resort.

The Disney store in DTD will have more price "knockdowns" than the parks.

I too am partial to the shops at disney studio - I like the villain store and at the Studio you can have personalized shirts made with the disney characters. I work with brides so I got a Mickey & Minnie in wedding dress polo shirt to wear to work on Fridays. You even select what color you want the roses to be that are in Minnie's bouquet. My favorite Christmas store is the one in the Magic Kingdom.

I love shopping in Epcot.. especially in the countries.. I got some wonderful items last year in Japan in November and marked down too... I love shopping in Mexico as well, everything is so colorful... I also think the shops near Spaceship Earth are very good as well.. I am not sure of the name for some reason Mousegears keeps popping in my head.. just good shopping..

Don't miss the outlet stores off of the property! We got some great official WDW merchandise at OUTSTANDING prices! Of course it is off season (I was buying sweatshirts in June), but they were selling in the parks for $60-$70 and I was getting them for $10-$15. THE EXACT SAME THINGS! Also, the outlet store at St. Augustine had a lot of Christmas merchandise at the time. From what I've read, these stores are hit or miss, but I'll definitely go there again, I got so many more souveniers than I could have imagined was possible for my money.

As for stores on property:

At DTD, I love their stores....They have a large selection in shops all relatively close to one another. We go there 2-3 times per trip!

like tjkraz said, if you want something resort, park, or even attraction specific your best best is in the parks, many attractions have shops adjacent to them selling merchandise for that attraction.
