Shoes with heels?

Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. Trying to add a few fractions of an inch to our granddaughters height.
Will it be ok if she has shoes that have a bit of a heel on them? Or will CM make her take shoes off?
Thanks, Rick

It depends. Most of the time she will be okay as long as the heel isn't clearly for height. I've heard cowboy boots (unforgettable as heck but it works) and princess heels are a favorite. Just know they'll have to wear the shoes the entire time they are in line. You can't just switch to sneakers when you get past the entrance as they'll remeasure at the ride load area.

If it really is just a fraction of an inch, I would recommend sneakers. They tend to have a more substantial sole than flip flops, for example, and will also be comfortable for the child. That's what we did! Sneakers or crocs. I wouldn't do anything with an actual heel, but that's just me.

I've seen CM's make kids take shoes off to be measured before - usually it's the tall platform style flip-flops. If they are like sneakers with a slightly thicker sole, it probably won't draw attention. But if the shoes are obviously adding a significant amount of height, they may get measured barefoot instead, which makes it even less likely that they'll pass than if they were wearing regular shoes.

Other good strategies are to go first thing in the morning, before their bodies have had time to shrink (as they do throughout the day) and make sure to practice standing up tall under a stick. A lot of kids by instinct tend to hunch down when they feel like something is over their head.

popcorn:: Oh, these type of questions are usually interesting threads. If you are trying to add height that would make it unsafe, then you shouldn't do it. But then height isn't all that should matter if you ask me. I've seen kids that meet height requirements, but they are so little and thin that I don't see how the ride is any safer for them than a kid that is a 1/4 of an inch to short. But then again, I don't make the rules.

If the heels are obvious, she may be made to take them off. I've seen it happen with a kid in big clogs. If it's just thick-soled sneakers, it's less likely.

Well, if she's six years old and has a pair of shoes on with three inch heels, chances are she's going to have to take them off for her measurement. It might be in the best interest of the OP to say how old the child is, which attractions this would be needed and how tall the child is.

I am sure it is at the discretion of the CM really. But my personal opinion from a comfort stand point a thicker soled tennis shoe would be a lot better if you are only trying to add a small amount.
