For the roller coasters that are inverted (for sure Dragon Challenge, not sure there are others) what do you do if you are wearing flip flops? I know there are ride lockers for belongings but they can't expect you to go through the queue with no shoes on (or can they??)

I personally hate flip flops but my partner only wears flip flops to parks. Most parks allow you to leave your non secure shoes next to the track as your board but we didn't even try this at universal.

Dragon Challenge and Hulk both have inversions. She always took the flip flops off and sat on them.

Side note, if you happen to need flip flops while in the park they are good quality. They look like basic flip flops with characters on them. She bought a Betty Boop pair back in 2010 and wears them all summer, every summer. They are still in good condition.

If I wear flip flops, which I usually do, I just cross my legs at my ankles, so my feet touch, and they've never flown off. Otherwise, I hold them or sit on them. I don't think I'd ever want to walk barefoot in parts of the parks. :lmao:

On Hulk they wont let you on without shoes. Not sure if you can take them off once on the ride, but when I was there last summer a teen in front of me left her flip flops with a nonrider and they would NOT let her board the ride till she went and got them

i have had the TM's tell me to take off the flip flops and sit on them for that ride.
(dragon challenge)

if i wear sandals that have a back strap, i leave them on my feet.

Yeah we're definitely not going to be walking through the park barefoot!! We will wear sneaks if needed but might want to do some water rides and hate wet feet, so figured flop flops would be the best option.

All flip flops need to be sat on along with hats. This is why I wear Teva's sandals.

Having the shoes with you is a safety issue. Imagine what would happen if the Hulk broke down while you were on it, and you had to walk across the steel grate block brake platform, down the steel grate stairs, and across the ride area back to the load platform.

Take your shoes off and either sit on them or pass the seat belt through the straps.

You will need to sit on the shoes. They cannot be left at the station since loading and unloading are in two different areas.

Lots of people sitting on their shoes here, and no flip flops that I can see...

...but I do recall a fair number of people dropping their shoes on the offload side of Dragon Challenge (you just walk across your lane and drop them there. At least that day it was not frowned upon, but reading the PP about the safety factor, I can see why keeping them with you would be a good idea.

My dad sits on his flip flops and hasn't had a problem before. But I always worry because I know there are times on rides where my butt leaves the seat. As long as you are careful, you should be fine, and it's not that many rides.

Dragon Challenge is the only one at Universal that you don't have a floor under your feet, and yes we sit on our shoes there. I either wear flip flops or loafer style Sanuks, and I ALWAYS ride this style coaster barefoot, but definitely do NOT want to walk through the line that way, just take them off right before boarding and sit on them or in most other parks, leave at the load/offload platform.

True I forgot that Hulk had a floor. But, Forbidden Journey doesn't have a floor and you should sit on you flip flops on that ride.

I have never had a TM say anything to me about my flip flops. However, on Dragon Challenge I do sit on them. :thumbsup2
