Going to WDW in mid-may with DH,DDand DS ages 4 and 6. I know it's going to be hot so the thought of wearing sneakers to the parks seems very hot and uncomfortable. I thought about canvas sneakers but they often don't have much support. The reason I ask this question is that many guide books suggest wearing sneakers and even say that you will get blisters if you wear sandels. What everyone's experience been? Thanks in advance!

24 DAYS AND COUNTING!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We always wear Land's End sandals to WDW. As long as your shoes are not brand new, you can wear just about anything that feels comfortable. Do be careful about getting your feet wet, though.

I never wear sneakers - my feet swell in the heat and sneakers are not too comfortable for me. I have a high arch/instep and wear wide width shoes. I don't wear anything but my Teva sandals. they are very comfortable and form to my feet.

If you buy new shoes, just make sure you buy then soon enough so you can break them in first.

Forget the guidebooks, use common sense to decide what will work for YOU!

I NEVER wear sneakers. In fact I own one pair, I've had them for nine years, and I wear them when I use the excercise bike--which obviously I do'nt use too often LOL!

For me it's sandals in all the warmer months, and loafers in the winter.

PS--Oops, I lied! I also have the rattiest looking pair of Keds that you've EVER seen that are even older that I wear when I garden. They live in the garage... :earboy2:

At lands end they have some really cool looking new type sneaker/sandal shoes for adults & kids. I was thinking about getting them for our trip. I think they are called the "sea to shore sport shoes". If you look on their web site, it seems to only offer them for adults, but I recieved a catalog from them that offered those shoes for kids too, so you might have to call.

The Land's End shoes are made for kids too...I was just looking at them at Sears the other day. We went with the action sandal instead of the "sneaker" type. The material is nice and soft; not scratchy and they have some really nice colors too. I think they will be great for WDW as we're going in August and the thought of wearing sneakers in that heat is unbearable! The only thing I'm concerned about though is thier feet getting sunburned ~ I guess I'll have to be extra cautious about putting sunblock on their feet too!

I'll be there in mid-May too. I'm taking Teva Pretty Rugged Leather sandals, Teva Mush flip flops, Teva Olowahu flip flops, and Crocs (a pair of Beach and a pair of Niles). I'll probably be wearing the Mush flip flops and the Niles the most though. I've been walking every day and alternating between these five pair trying to decide which I'll be wearing at WDW and have had trouble deciding, so decided to take all five pairs and decide there. I'll tell you one thing though: There won't be a pair of tennis shoes in my suitcase for this trip. Tennis shoes are too hot and I've yet to find a pair that didn't hurt my little toe.

We do sneakers and sandals and have never had a problem. Go with whatever is more comfortable to you.:sunny: We will be there mid may too!

agreeing with everyone else... wear whatever you would normally be comfortable in for the summer months. I like sneakers (keds type) but since our last disney trip was in August I wore sandals, just a few everyday pair that I had for the summer and I was fine.

Those lands end water sneakers look pretty cool, I might try them this summer!
