Shoes, feet soreness -any tips?

I swore by band-aids placed on my "pressure points" (where I'd be most likely to get blisters) while wearing pointe shoes when I used to do ballet (it's been almost 5 years) because they provided extra cushioning and absorbed some of the sweat. I recommend on investing in some socks that have thick cushioning on the bottom. They don't necessarily have to be athletic socks because I have a pair of knee-high socks from Hot Topic that are (obviously) not "athletic" but are far cushier than any of my pairs of athletic socks and I swear by them when I'm wearing my steel-toed boots.

Here's what I've been doing with good results:

Rolling a Gatorade bottle (with ridges on the outside) that has been filled with water and frozen, under my feet every night for about 30m each. I usually wrap it in a towel or wear socks.

Picking up and putting down an ink pen with my toes for about 15-20m at a time, until my foot gets tired.

Stretching on the stairs for a few minutes whenever possible.

I switch between NB and Nike running shoes and wear inserts in both. I also have the Crocs ballet flats but I don't like that they have no ventilation. My husband has a leather tool that he said could make holes in them, but I'm afraid of ruining them.

I did buy a pair of Skechers Shape-ups, but only wore them once around the house. After reading the above posts, I doubt I'll do that again!
