Shoe Suggestions

Those of you who wear Keens - do they run small? I wear a size 7 shoe, and they fitted me with an 8.5! It doesn't seem right.

Also, do you wear them with or without socks?

I am a big fan of the old Teva sandles. I wear them with socks when needed. :sad2:

I have crocs - and have had them for over a years - but they start to rub and irritate my feet after extensive walking. I love them for just walking around town.

My third favorite are my black leather Easy Spirit shoes that lace up. The look a little better than the atletic style shoes. I had to add an arch insert for support.

WDW here we come! :cool1:

Hi All! I am new to the boards but have already learned so much from you all! Now I need some advice. We leave for our trip in 3 weeks :woohoo: but I need a great shoe recommendation. I am looking for something really comfortable as I walk all over the place, any suggestions?

Thanks,

Rainbow flip flops. No joke. In March I wore mine everyday all throughout the parks, everywhere. I brought my tennis shoes just in case and I wore them one day and at the end of the day my toes and feet in general hurt so bad from being like cramped up in a tennis shoe. My rainbows were so comfortable the whole time! No blisters or anything! And if you get on Soarin' or some other type of dangly ride, you can either sit on your raibows or leave them on the ground because when the ride is over you're at the same exact spot as when it started. Good times! When I leave for WDW in 9 days I plan on wearing my rainbows again!
btw- in my opinion crocs aren't very attractive and I know I would never wear those garden plasticy looking shoes. I just can't understand how people actually wear those shoes without embarassment. There are plenty of other choices for comfort. Especially rainbows! :) good luck with whatever you choose though.

My suggestion is to bring a few pairs of broken in shoes different styles. I relly on my well worn sneakers, but if they get wet I have a problem! so I also bring my Teva's and will be getting some crocs too

So if crocs are the way to go, wondering if anyone owns any of the "Athens" type? I don't know if I can make myself wear reguar crocs (I am one of those 'fashion is equally important as comfort' type girls) and am hoping that the Athens are still as comfy as regular crocs.

Input, anyone?

I for one can't wear any type of flipflop.(I have no clue what Rainbows are or means) I can't stand anything in between my toes! I have never found a perfect shoe for me, but like I said before, I have awful feet too. But big tennis shoes would probably be my best bet as well.

I have the hardest time with shoes. I've tried all different types of sneakers, tevas, flip flops, etc. When I was in Hawaii this summer I bought a pair of Croc flip-flops. They are THE MOST comfortable shoe that I have ever owned. I am planning to buy two more pairs to wear to Disney. I don't like the Crocs that are huge and have the holes in the top simply because I don't like the look of them but my father-in-law has a pair and said that they are comfortable. If you are looking for comfort and style I would say to buy the flip-flops. :thumbsup2

For late November/early December I found athletic shoes (love my New Balance cross trainers) were more appropriate than sandals or Crocs. Just make sure they are worked in before you go.

Here is my advice on shoes.....Broken in and comfortable..Nothing new....Broken in and comfortable.

Most peeopl say they have to buy a bit larger....but I didnt....

I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine. With my sandals I dont wear socks (I have clogs and slip ons too - do wear socks with those...) I HAVE to buy good shoes (bad toe and VERY bad back problems...) and I pretty much only buy Keens now - and have most of my family buying them too. I have 5 pair - use them all a LOT!!! And bought most of Ebay....for 1/2 price or less! One thing for sure - once you are fitted you then can always buy that size - they stay true.. :sunny:

(ps - how do they feel? They shouldnt be all loose like the crocs... should fit "normal" ...ie. not big , not small...)

I love my crocs! I just figured out that I have spent $100 on crocs this year. I have two pairs of the kind with holes and one closed pair(for cold weather coming up) I need to wear socks with them, though. Otherwise, the bottom of my foot feels irritated. I just wear thin ones in the summer. I have found so many Disney character ankle socks that I wear with mine.

I'm a teacher and I wear my Crocs everyday unless I HAVE to dress up. It is hard for me to wear other shoes because now nothing else is as comfortable.

Yes, they are ugly at first, but they kind of grow on you!

Ok here is a tip from a westerner. Out west and esp in CA everyone wears REEF flip flops. They can be expensive for flip flops but totally worth it. The soles are built like a running shoe. Amazingly comfortable. They have awesome arch support and you dont slide in them like regular flip flops. Look for the basic ones. They have the "fashionable" ones with beads and such on them but they dont have the support the basics do. Here in AZ we wear them year round. I always wear them to Disneyland so my feet dry quickly when I'm on Splash or Grizzly River Run. I would suggest bringing some REEF's and a good worn in pair of tennis shoes and alternating from day to day. BTW I hate crocs because they are ugly and my foot slides in them often. I get blisters too easily. REEF's are definitely superior.

I used to wear only Sketchers sneakers but wasn't happy with some of the styles they've come out with recently and had gotten a good recommendation for New Balance. I purchased a pair of New Balance and LOVE THEM!!! They are so comfy. They should be nice and broken in by the time we go to WDW in January. :) If you buy New Balance, I was told to look for series #s that are above 400. I'm not a sandal person, I especially hate flip flops, and I don't like going without socks, so sneakers are the way to go for me.

HaHa thank you! I agree! Crocs are soooooo ugly. And isn't Reef the same company that manufactures Rainbows?
All I know is that Rainbows are the most comfortable shoes ever!

They could be made by the same company. I'm not sure though as I'm not familiar with Rainbow but they sound the same. They have an awesome footbed. That sounds soooo funny. What a nerd I am but hey if my feet aren't happy, I'm not happy.

Thanks,

I wore crocs, but had to wear light socks to prevent blistering. After that they were amazing shoes. :)

I went to Disney last Thanksgiving week (05) with a good pair of Nike tennis shoes. I had the sorest feet once I left.

This year, I only had a 3 day trip. I bought some crocs and some tennis shoes, but this time in a wide size. I didn't have ANY of the foot problems I had last year. I think since Crocs are wider and my tennis shoes were wider, that must have been the problem. I could have walked forever.

I am so glad to read this thread. I Just found out I have a flat foot, yep just one. I think it explains a lot for that knee being so bad. but I have always wore thong type sandals to walk everywhere, so I really have been thinking about the problem of lots of walking and arch support and possibly having special inserts (bye bye heals  )Yikes. I will find a place to try on the Reef shoes this weekend, any other ideas, of course I will bring my sneakers but really don't like my feet confined, I really dislike socks!
Thanks
