Hi All! I am new to the boards but have already learned so much from you all! Now I need some advice. We leave for our trip in 3 weeks :woohoo: but I need a great shoe recommendation. I am looking for something really comfortable as I walk all over the place, any suggestions?

Thanks,

Oh no here comes the Crocs people :lmao:

They are very nice.

But I wear mostly Keens with a pair of Ecco watershoes inas well.

DW wears Veg Jrs. a croc type shoe

DD13 wears her Crocs most of the time

I bought Crocs before our trip in August, and I mean I bought about 5 pairs, they were great before we left but after the first day I developed a blister on my heel. I think it was the way my toes gripped the shoes or something. Anyway, I did think ahead and packed a pair of Teva dozers. They were great! Of course, I had to work around my already developed blister for the week but I made it through.

I can only recommend that you truly break in your shoes, whatever you decide.

I just bought my first pair of crocs a few days ago, I was gauranteed to be blister-free, as I suffered last time all week with a huge blister. Should I start wearing them now to break them in? Did you wear socks or not?

I hate to admit this, but I am now a Crocs convert. I resisted at first because they are so darn ugly, but they are comfortable.

I just got back from a 10 day trip to the world and we walked all day long. I wore the crocs every day but one. The one day that I wore my walking shoes I found that my calves were extremely sore and tight the next day. I went back to my crocs and didn't have any more problems.

I did wear lightweight socks with them though because it was so hot that my would get sweaty and then tend to rub on the sides a bit. The socks fiixed that problem!

I've found that the Skechers Mary Janes are the most comfortable shoe and fashionable, too!! :thumbsup2

Sorry, Croc-lovers, the Airwalk knockoff "crocs" are way more comfortable! :rotfl2: DH, DD and I all wore them for a solid week and they were wonderful. DH didn't get his until the night before we left, and they didn't require breaking in at all--were comfy from the start! Airwalks are available at Payless Shoes--try some and you'll see! I even wore my New Balance one day and went back to the Airwalks for the rest of the trip!

Hi, ever tried birkenstocks? I find them the most comfortable thing to where. I find the best place to shop for them is on QVC.com. Even my DD9 has had them.

I have a pair of crocs as well and have gotten a blister on the side of my heel--but I wore them anyway b/c the croc material cushioned the blister.

In my case--it does'nt matter what I wear on my feet from broken in running shoes, birks, to the beloved (but kinds-sorta-ugly) crocs--I always have a foot blow-out. Luckliy, I carry around an arsenal of foot repair items--those blister cover dealies from Band-Aid actually work pretty well :thumbsup2

I wear New Balance running shoes because they have great support, a bigger toe box and are very light weight. Buy them today and break them in before your vacation! I also wear Teva Pretty Rugged sandals. They also have great support for a sandal, are lightweight and drip-dry.

I brought Crocs with me to WDW in August 2005 and they did not have enough support for me. In fact, I severely sprained my ankle wearing Crocs by doing something stupid ... I was jumping straight up trying to get a shoe box off of the top shelf at Wal*mart and I came down the wrong way and my ankle rolled. It would not have happened in either of my other shoes. I still love my Crocs and wear them at home but they don't get packed for WDW.

My friend here at work was a recent croc convert, but decided more recently that they don't offer enough arch support. Not good for flatfooted people. I think I'll be sticking with my Nike sandals, which are just as cushiony and offerer the arch support. They're foamy and water-proof and I bought them while on a hunt for my previous Tivo favorite. But their canvas straps aren't comfy - so I'm a Nike sandal convert.

Love my birks also! Check out Ebay for some really good deals on birks, I think I now have 22 pairs in my closet!! Clogs, sandals, shoes even a red patent leather pair! :confused3 :teeth:

Other than sneakers, it seems that most great shoes are pretty ugly!

I have crocs and wear them around the house, but I wouldn't wear them to WDW. To me, they just don't have good enough arch support.

I love my keen sandals, though. Ugly? Oh yeah. Comfortable? Without a doubt!!

And for the craziest of all...I'm also bringing my ecco hiking boots. I know that sounds nuts, but they are THE MOST COMFORTABLE shoes I own. They are much more lightweight than regular hiking boots, but the arch support, ankle support and fit are perfection. I did quite a bit of hiking in Hawaii earlier this year in these boots and they were fab. Of course, I'm really planning on wearing them when I have pants on. That hiking boots and shorts look really isn't for me!!

I have Crocs that I wear but I've noticed that it irritates the top of my foot where the edge of the opening is. Anyone else having this problem? I'm thinking I maybe need to get the next size up. I have a L now and wear a size 11 shoe. I think I need to get an XL. I'm going to get a pair for my son though.

I HATE crocs! My DD has a pair and they kill my feet whenever I slip them on. She wears and 11 and I wear a ten and they feel too small for my feet, and they make my feet unbeleivably sweaty.
I read someone else used some shoe calle Tennel, I think????Or was it Terrel?I asked where she got them, since she said they were so great, but never was responded too. :guilty:
I usually buy mens shoes alot, since they are wider and offer more comfort for me. I have womens new balance that hurt my feet and mens that are jsut fabulous! :cheer2:

Another Crocs groupie here! I just got my second pair this week, now I have Pink and Khaki. My kids all have them. DH is the only one who won't jump on our little bandwagon. The rest of us love them!

I have never worn a more comfortable shoe and I used to work at Rockport Shoe HQ so I have known some comfy shoes in my time!

Allyson

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have heard a lot about Crocs but haven't tried them yet, just can't picture how they would be so comfortable. But I may have to try them out.

We like ECCO athletic shoes. DH has bad feet and these are the only shoes he can wear and walk in several days without having his feet hurt. We get them at Shoebuy.com
