New Balance are actually known for having extended sizes and widths. You can get them in super wide.
They actually are different than Nike or Rebok or Adidas--New Balance are recommended by foot doctors because of the arch support. If you go into a comfort shoe shop (that sells shoes like Birkenstock, Mephisto, etc...) they will often sell only one kind of athletic shoe--New Balance. I have never gotten a pair, but many people swear by them.
I can't wear Keds or
Crocs because they don't offer enough arch support for me. If you feet are killing you, you are wearing the wrong shoes. You need to figure out what will work for you all day in DL--there are options. You should never buy "new shoes" for DL--they need to be very well broken in before you go, or you are just asking for blisters.
One tip that really works is to put antiperspirant on your feet before you set out for the day. When your feet sweat, that is when blisters can be rubbed on your feet. Invest in a really good pair of walking socks there are many brands these days that say "anti-blister"--it will be like two layers of a cool max fabric that protect your feet.
In warmer months I wear these Merrell Sandals (often with socks):

Those are the best sandals for
Disneyland EVER! I can walk all day and all night, and my feet still feel great. They have great traction, dry quickly, and are super soft on the sole and straps. I have worn them with socks, but do fine without as well. They are pretty ugly, but they really can't be beat for stability and comfort.
For athletic type shoes, these work perfectly for me:

They are by Allrounder (Mephisto) and are pricey, but they last forever and are very stylish for a athletic shoe. I wear them at DL with Smartwool Socks, and they make my feet feel great.
I had one Disneyland trip where I got blisters--and it made me fanatical about my shoes that I wear there! I promised myself it would never happen again, and it hasn't. I got the blisters on the first day, and had to spend the rest of the trip in flip flops (the only shoes that didn't touch my blisters) and my feet just KILLED me by the end of each day because of not having enough support and stability.
