I refuse to purchase navy pants just because I had to wear them as part of my uniform when I worked at a fast food place. (heheh) but it was black shoes with it.
navy is hard...but I would do black if you have to.
just like jeans though - most of them are 'navy'...but we wear black/brown/red/etc... with them.
i bought a really sweet pair of olive green mocasins last weekend...they look GREAT with jeans and my powder blue chinos
I would wear brown shoes with black pants if the shoe had a black heel. I have a pair of brown boots with a black heel that I wear with a pair of black pants.
I agree with all else... I'd never wear brown with black pants.
I know black is now totally acceptable to wear with navy pants, but I still avoid it when possible. I still prefer a blue darker than the pants or a shade of brown/tan for those (especially if my watch and all are brown as well). Some rules die hard with me, and navy/black is one of those.
I agree as well, brown shoes with brown pants (or khaki, olive, etc.), black shoes with black pants, and navy shoes with navy pants. No mix and match.
This is mean, but I work with a "fashion challenged" woman. Today she is wearing black pants, navy top, and gold lame high heeled shoes. That's actually one of her more coordinated outfits. At least she's clean
Funny you should ask this...I saw a woman yesterday at the hospital who had on a pantsuit that had a brown & black striped jacket, with a brown shell underneath and then black pants and she had on brown shoes and it looked quite sharp.
I think in a case like that, you could get away with brown shoes because it picks up the theme.
I really think navy with black or brown shoes is really one of those things that has become blurred... like, you're not supposed to wear white after Labor Day unless it's winter white, but all of the magazines are saying that's an old rule.
But, there are always going to be the diehards who won't wear white after Labor Day ever, no matter what the magazines say.
I think I am comfortable wearing white while the weather is still warm, even after September, but once it gets cold...
I just really want these shoes in brown instead of black because the sheepskin would turn my feet black.
But I wear black pants most of the time, so I guess I need to get them in black
What color brown are they, like chocolate brown? I don't see why you couldn't wear them with black pants, but then again, I'm not a stickler for such things. I wear whatever shoes happen to be my favorite on any given day with whatever outfit I choose. I mean, I wouldn't wear black with pastels, or black with white, but other than that, I'm pretty flexible.
Can't stand black and brown together, black and beige is OK.
Grey shoes are really handy, they can be worn with black or navy pants. Wine is another useful colour for shoes.
