Shockwave problems

I hope someone here has some ideas for me, as I can't log onto VMK at all and am getting frustrated! I got a message yesterday saying that there was a new version of Shockwave player and that I should download it. I followed the link and did that. Now, whenever I try to log on, I get this message:



This application requires and Xtra (font) that either does not exist or failed to initialize properly. Please make sure the appropriate Xtras are in the Xtras folder(s).

I've already tried uninstalling and re-installing Shockwave. Does any idea what I can do to solve this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated.

My boyfriend had this problem for months. He did the same thing as you and Shockwave got all messed up. Eventually he was told he needed to reformat his harddrive, but he googled the error message and was able to get it working again.

If you have trouble and have this pop up, you need to install the full version of Shockwave and not the slim version. Try going on Macromedia's site.

Thank you both VERY much for the replies. After a couple hours of trying, my husband has finally been able to fix the problem. Apparently, Shockwave has complicated things a bit by having a slim version, a full version, and a "fast full" version - which works for most people on most computers. NOT me, however... lol It seems if you have certain security settings, it will pick and choose which bits to download (all without telling you it's omitting some) - and hence the problem... Anyway, thanks again for all the help. If anyone experiences this problem again, I can tell you it is TOUGH to find the real FULL version of the newest Shockwave player. We ended up having to use parts of the Netscape version (even though I'm running IE) - but, anyway, it works! Thanks again.
