As I'm suppossed to be planning my lessons for tomorrow I thought I would spend some time pricing up holidays! This year we spent just over 3K on our flights, tickets and car hire, we stayed at the Beach Club which was with our DVC points. I just priced up the exact holiday to see how much it would cost without DVC and it came to just under 8K!!! :scared1: To stay at a value resort was over 5K!! :headache: I remember the first few times we went we only paid £1800 which was only 7 years ago. What has happended to the prices?

When i first went to disney in 97 we paid 1200 for 2adukts and two kids, flights, tickets and all stars for two weeks!

This year we got a great deal and paying 2900 for 2 a***ts, two infants one bed illa at okw, tickets and flights but that had a saving of over 3000

Its got very expensive now

We're doing OK in terms of holding the prices down...

For flights, tickets, hotel...
2009 - 11 nights - £610 each (£55/night)
2010 - 10 nights - £600 each (£60/night)
2012 - 11 nights - £705 each (£64/night)

Not doing Disney helps :thumbsup2

Harder to price up the pre-2009 trips because we always went somewhere else, too.

I agree! the prices for staying on site are shocking, the free dining takes the edge off slightly, but if your a DVC member you can't take advantage of that. We are currently alternating our holidays, OOP one year, DVC the next. Just got to get past the flight prices first!:scared1:

I completely agree! We got quoted over £9,000 for 4 adults and 2 children for 2 weeks at OKW ... it was £7500 for Pop Century ... shocking!!!

That's a fab price! We just got quoted a similar one with travel city direct I think they can be really good! It was £2800 for 2 adults at po with DDP and ultimate tickets flying with virgin....we have decided though to now take the kids and my mum so needed bigger place we just booked SSR For 15 nights free DDP ultimate tickets for 3 adults 3 kids for £4818 :) but that's without flights so now looking for them!!

I must be getting a great deal then, I paid £4000 for 2 people to spend 3 weeks in the US. One week in NYC, one week in Boston and one week at Disney staying in the Yacht Club and that included flights, DDP and 14 day ultimate tickets and like my train fares NYC to Boston and back. I just go to my local travel agent who is albeit a family friend but it's always been great.

It's places like Thomas Cook that are just stupidly overpriced. They wanted crazy money when I last looked.

If its same holiday year on year then easy to compare, out trouble is hardly any 2 holidays are the same, so difficult to compare. Cost per night on these 2 examples works out far cheaper per night staying onsite doing disney compared to offsite with no Disney.
We used to spend a lot less years ago but we went offpeak, stayed in some dodgy hotels, ate at Ponderosa every night, if we did that kind of holiday now I am sure I can get prices down to similar to what I used to pay, our standards have improved & we have to stick to school hols, main 2 reasons for higher costs for us.

The trip we have planned for next August will cost about £5,000 to include everything, 24 nights (21 at OKW), All our food, 21 day ultimate tix, car(incl gas & ins) £69pppn.
Our trip next week costing £1,800 but only 7 nights, flights, offsite value resort, car (incl gas & ins) £87pppn with no food & no tickets.
