Shirley - Evryone Ok?

As do I. Don't take a lack of response for anythng ominous. The last reports is 1/3rd of the area is without power, so there may not be any way for a lot of people living there to check in.

Shirley,
I hope that all is well with you and yours. All the reports last night were very ominous. I have experienced several bad hurricanes here on Long Island and dealing with no power for days is tough.

Good Luck!

Shirley,We hope everything is okay at your end.We didn't get anything here in Gainesville besides rain on and off.I hope you are able to get on here soon and let us know how you are doing!!You and family are in our prayers!

Charlie and Maria

Shirly and everyone in Charle's path is okay. Our thought and prayers for everyone down there.

All our prayers are with all of you. Hope everything is getting back to order with the least amount of damage possible...

Hoping to Hear from you...

Hoping and praying that everyone is OK.
Waiting for an update,

Been watching the Duval St webcam here, and was surprised to see people out riding their bikes! The ground looks pretty wet, but obviously life is getting back to normal, thank God. Nat:Pinkbounc

Hello all,
We had no problems here tho Norm is still on the Disney and will be for another couple of hours - he had the opportunity to go to the crew's lunch quarters and visit with the crew members - they are all kinda at odds since they want to get off before the ship leaves again this afternoon tho it won't leave until after 6pm tonight - Norm and I are going out to the port when they leave -there was a bomb scare at the Glory tho and everyone had to be taken off and everything secured until it was found to be safe - I believe it is all safe now - Purta Gorda is where so many lives were lost - Norm and I have a number of classmates over there, but we haven't been able to find out anything - my granddaugher and her family are between here and Titusville and they got a lot of damage and there is no electrcity so she is heading over this way to the condo - By the Grace of God, we didn't have any damages or lost of lives over this way - the seas have calmed down and I understand the Magic will be going to Key West tomorrow - Norm called his son in Key West yesterday and everything was fine - where they show the water coming over into the street is at the Southermost part - the end of whitehead Street - living and growing up there, is always happens even when we would have just a rain storm then it runs off the streets again - we would go down there during rain storms to play in the water on the streets - (dumb kids we were) - Key West only had 40 mile winds and the damages were very very little.
We had a bad accident on 95 and 528 to which a whole family were hurt last evening - my son Mike drove over from Sarasota and the only cars he saw where the police force - Mike said it was so calm that it was eerie - he got to the condo with the kids around 2pm - anyhow thanks all for the messages - it means a lot and to all of those in harm's way - be safe and prayers are being sent for you.
Much love
Always
Shirley and Norm

So glad you guys are ok.We have been watching the news reports from here in the UK, and of course have been very worried about people in those conditions. We have only ever had 1 hurricane here, and it was SCAREY!

Was surprised at one news report: it showed people sitting on their bikes on the sea-front, watching the enormous waves coming over...........just a few feet away from them! Just shows how daft some folk can be I guess.

Although we are 1000s miles away, we are all thinking of you guys, and praying that casualities are relatively light. Keep safe, and hope you get good news from all your classmates.

Shirley and family

Just another message from over here in the UK to let you all know that we are thinking about you and praying for all you folks in the USA that you stay safe in the wake of this terrible storm.

Hi Shirley,

Glad to hear you and yours are ok. We had the hatches battened down, as we didn't know if we'd be hit or not, but as it turned out, we just got some rain and strong (but not damaging) wind. We've had afternoon thunderstorms this summer that were worse.

Praying for the people of Punta Gorda, though. It's frightening to think it could have been any of us.

Maureen

Shirley: I'm so glad you and Norm and your area are fine. It's so sad when such strong storms cause death and major property damage :( I think a lot of us feel helpless at a time like this, there doesn't seem to be a lot that we can do, long distance. :worried:

Thx for the update Shirley! Thx for your help before our cruise. We had a blast in Key West! Couldn't get a discount in the jet ski place but still had a great time there. Glad all is well with your family down south.

Hi all,
Norm finally got off the ship around 1pm - he was held "captive" for about 3 hours on the bottom deck - wasn't much to do so he did some minglering and speaking with some of the crew members - I picked him up after 1pm and of course it started to rain - looked out and a whole bunch of crew members were getting soaked while waiting for the bus to pick them up - had I had bigger transportation, would have given them a lift - the ship is still in port and it is still raining some - in fact very cloudy, but knowing Disney - they are going to make sure their cruisers have fun and sun - they don't fail to make sure their cruisers are not only safe, but having the fun that is well deserved.
Looks like Fla is going to have a high death rate from the storm and the aftermath - I understand that one of the children in the accident last night didn't make it - my grandson was in an accident today created when a couple from the orients in a rented car and very scared and confused, broadsided him - Mike, my son, thursday and Josh my grandson today - people have got to slow down tho I can sympathize with those involved in the accident - my kids took it great and even made friends with those involved in the accident - things have really been hectic - all the hotels etc are full here and traffic is very heavy which I imagine its all over Florida - Norm and I have decided to wait til next week to go to Key West - all the kids and family are doing great down there.
Ok news is on so I am out of there.
Luv ya all
Always
Shirley

We finally got our electric and phones back on the west coast here. Boy, this was a very scary weekend and those of us in Naples lucked out with the last minute bounce of Charley. We got winds of 98 miles per hour here and there's quite a bit of damage, but nothing close to 1/2 hour north of me. To finally see the pictures of the absolute devastation of Punta Gorda, Pine Island, Captiva and Cape Coral just makes me cry. Captiva was cut in half. The crazy part is that National Hurricane Advisory out of Miami kept telling us that it was still going to hit Tampa and our local newscasters kept telling us it was coming our way and getting in trouble. Thank God for them as we all only had about an hours notice.
I just wanted to let those know from this board that I had spoken to right before the hurricane that I was okay!

I am glad all those in Fl are doing OK. Thanks for the updates!

We probably won't have electricity back until Saturday . . . blech. We had some serious property damage, but we are all, thankfully, okay. We atched the news on friday evening, saw that the eye of the storm was going to pass over our town in 5 minutes, and then we lost electricity. Very surreal.
