I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find the thread for it. We're excitedly getting our itinerary ready for our family in the event of an emergency (elderly parents on both sides of the family) and need to know how they can contact us onboard the Magic.

It's 888-322-8732. Be sure that they know which ship you're on, and it doesn't hurt to give your family your Disney Cruise Line reservation number as well.

You want to emphasize that this is to be used only in emergencies. You'll be paying a steep price if they're simply calling to say hello.

From what we were told, the person calling has to have a credit card because the charges are applied immediately -- it is $6.95 and I think there is tax added onto that!

What we did last time was leave our email addresses with friends and relatives. For my mother, who is 82 and no way computer literate, I left her my girlfriend's phone number. If she needed to reach us, my girlfriend could email me on the ship. We checked our emails daily. That also went for the kennel and person taking care of our other pets -- they all had our email addresses.

We were on the Wonder recently and had need of the phones. My father had called while we were at dinner that my mother had a stroke. I ran all over trying to get info about how to make a ship to shore call to find out all the details. Believe me that at a time like that you don't think about the cost. It was as simple as picking up the stateroom phone and dialing the number (I think with an 8 in front of it). I was amazed at how quickly it went through and how clear it was. I didn't bat an eye at the $35 charge. It is reassuring that they provide the service.

We had to use the phones during the 8/28 "lost at sea" voyage to contact family members about the delayed return. It was that easy -- just pick up the phone and dial. It was very convenient -- as long as you are aware of the fees.
