If I choose to ship stuff (clothes!) to my resort, so I don't need to take so many suitcases and pay the airline, how can I ship them HOME? We won't have a rental car... so how do I send the box home?

You go to the concierge at the hotel. They'll box, tape, label and ship your package back for you.

Is it cheaper to ship a huge box of stuff then to pay for the luggage fees? I wouldn't mind doing this too if shipping was cheaper..

If it's a huge box then it'll be about the same price or more. You can go to the UPS and FedEx site and estimate your shipping costs.

Oh is it a flat rate, depending on the size of the box, or is it by weight? If it's 20 bucks or cheaper than i'm sold! :thumbsup2

It's by weight. You pay the same rates as you normally would shipping with UPS or FedEx.

I shipped a box of items to myself to Boardwalk Villas from the office. Shipped it two-day shipping using my Firm's account. It was less than $20 to ship.

Sent this very same box back home via the Conference Center at the Boardwalk and used my own shipping label, box, sealed it myself, etc., and when I got the charge for the returned box -- it was more than double what I paid for it to go to WDW. I'm guessing Disney felt the need to add on their own shipping costs to the package -- not that they did anything other than pass the box off to the local Federal Express driver.

Not sure if this is the experience from all Disney resorts or just those with conference centers. But I know I'll never ship a box back home via Fedex using the conference center again. :goodvibes

Your company pays a different rate then WDW does.

There are many other courier services which can help you especialy if you contact Fedex. They can help you in a well manner.Their shipping cost is not too much. You should freely contact them and no need to ask anything more. You have a solution.

Here's how I do it (using FedEx Ground, which in many cases, is less expensive than the U.S. Postal Service):

  • Go online, pay/print the shipping label from home to WDW
  • Pay/print a second label - this one is for the return from WDW to home
  • Affix label to package/ship package (either from home pickup or take to any FedEx facility)
  • Once you are ready to send your stuff home, call FedEx Ground a day ahead of time and arrange for package pickup from the front desk of your resort

Super-simple and super-budget!

JB2K........how can you be sure the box will weigh the same going home in order to pre-print the label? I know I've shipped stuff for years, but, as we use up some of the stuff (coffee, dry kitchen foodstuffs) I ship to the resort I then substitute other items in the return package (something we may have purchased there, maybe a few things to make the carryons a bit lighter going home, etc.) so therefore, it doesn't usually weigh the same for shipping home.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I love the idea of pre-printing the label and just dropping at the front desk for pick-up instead of needing to go to a FedEx staffed location the day before our trip home.

Good question - I have a personal account with FedEx (anyone can obtain a personal account for free), so I am never billed until the delivery is completed. I estimate my return weight to be close to the departure weight, so that's what I use.

Keep in mind, FedEx Ground will re-weigh the package while it's in transit which is how they ultimately base the shipping charge.

Clothes weigh quite a bit, I can't imagine shipping them. I just sent a tee shirt and gift card and some Silly Bandz to DN in FL and it cost $6.95 for priority mail. Depends on if you are shipping in or out of your zone but it could get more costly. Why not take less clothes and do laundry?

From home to the hotel is shipping from residence to a business. This makes the package shipping to the hotel cheaper than the other way around.

Bottom line, not really worth it.
