Im just wondering if anyone has ever used shipping from the stores at Walt Disney World. I know that they will ship to people in the US, but will they ship to Canada and if so, what is the cost?

Yes they do ship to Canada, but it is expensive! I cannot remember exactly how much, just that it was really expensive!

It is SUPER expensive to ship to Canada!
I remember a very helpful CM who offered to have my $80.00 pushase shipped home to Canada for me and I told her no, it was too expensive (something like $50.00 if not more. I can't remember the exact amount). She was convinced it wasn't as expensive as I thought and it was in my best interest to have it shipped, if something happened to the item on route Disney would replace it etc. etc. etc....... I thought maybe they had reduced the shipping charges so I had her look up the amounts (depending on how much you spend). Needless to say, she was incredibly shocked when she saw the amount!
For us, it's NOT an option!

Not to mention the Duty charges on top of that when the items arrive.

Outrageous!
I had a CM suggest last trip I look into the USPS and other carrier options at the airport. I forgot to check into it, so would be curious to know if anyone has used the offsite shipping options and how affordable you found it...

Never shipped from WDW to home but I have shipped from Orlando area stores to an address we use in Lewiston. Can only help those that are not too far from the border here to go and collect.

We shipped 2 Ceiling fans and 3 outdoor lights via UPS to Lewiston. We paid $27 to ship. We declared them as 'goods to follow' when we came back through Canada Customs and presented CC with the form to declare them when we went to pick them up.
Easy.

And we saved a lot of $$ buying them there as opposed to here!

I know Disney's shipping is VERY pricey!

If you have access to a car and are willing to head to a UPS, USPS, or FedEX you will save on shipping. Letting Disney do it is expensive.

thanks everyone, just thought i would ask...will probably just bring an extra duffle bag and check it...pay $25, will no doubt be alot cheaper than mailing by the sounds of it

Yes, it's VERY expensive. I bought a picture from Disney Art on my last day of vacation in Sept 08. It cost me $150US to ship it home, plus the duty fees when it arrived.

Because it was my last day, I felt I had very little options. One positive, it arrived very quickly. I flew home on Sunday, and it was ready for delivery on the Wednesday.

We ship home all the time but not through Disney. I pack a diaper box in my luggage along with wrapping paper. I stuff it full of items purchased along with dirty laundry to make sure it doesn't break. I send snow globes this way since it can't go on carryon. I bring it to the concierge or help desk at teh resort and arrange for it to be shipped. I've done this with ASMo, Swan and Dolphin. I make sure they send it USPS Priority and it arrives safe and sound for around $35 or so. No duty because you claim it as part of your permitted purchases on the forms you fill out to reenter the country (same if you ship from Disney too though... just state its a package to follow and no duty is added).

Joanne, that's really good to know about. Do they have a way to calculate the USPS charges so you can pay upfront?

Generally, no. The person at the desk can't weight it or anything. But really push and say it HAS to go USPS. Most resorts can do it I think. ASMo insisted on it going either FedEx or UPS (can't remember) but I was also doing it on the day our flight left. Huge mistake. I had no idea what I was doing and planned for it after that trip. Back to the payment, they've charged it to the room. If the charge goes on after you leave, its the same as any other charge that goes on afterwards, they just charge it to the same credit card you paid with. As I'm typing, I'm realizing that I've done this at Swan and Dolphin but not since at Disney resorts. I did check with Poly and I'm pretty sure it could have been done but I wasn't ready to send it at that point so I sent it after we moved to the Swan. Ask the resort (concierge desk) when yo uarrive and they'll be able to tell you everything you need to know. Or you could always call in advance. I've done that for other things and the concierge is always willing to help.
