Shipping Diapers?

I know a lot of people ship down essentials prior to their trip. I have a large box of things already started but I do not want to fill it up with diapers (or pull-ups). My 18-month old will be just over 2 when we go and although she is already showing signs of wanting to use the potty, I presume that she will not be fully potty trained by the time we leave.

I have heard that people ship bottled water from Staples and I am wondering if I can ship a box of diapers to my resort? I am already sending a large box and I don't know if the resorts place a limit on how many packages a guest can send. We will be there for 6 days and so I believe that 60 diapers (one mega pack) should be plenty. Anybody have experience with this or any other suggestions? I don't want to have to fill my "booty box" or my luggage with diapers!

I either filled a suitcase with diapers or I bought them once I was there. Filling a suitcase leaves you with plenty of space for souvineers on the way home.

Ditto to what Robin said...If you leave them in the package they come in, it compresses them pretty small, in my opinion. Then that's our souvenir space!

ohh... great idea :) I had been wondering how I was going to excuse bringing an extra empty suitcase for souvenirrs :) I'll just fill it up w/ diapers LOL

Don't forget your suitcase has to be under 50 lbs or else you have to pay extra.

I have shipped diapers twice so far & hopefully when I/we go in 2008 my soon to be 1 yo will be out of diapers or almost there.

I ship them in their packaging in a bigger box since I ship snacks, wipes, breakfast, etc... But I have taken some out if I need to.

A few weeks before I go, I start counting diapers that I have changed each day for a week or two & then I average it out & take that many plus 1 day & I put a days worth on the plane with me just in case.

The box we shipped was probably around 2 feet by 2 feet.

We have shipped them in the past. DS is a special needs child so we ship wipes, diapers and some of his DVD's. Last trip we bought them from GARDEN GROCER and had them delivered to the hotel along with wipes, water, small baggies, juice boxes and a few snacks (goldfish crackers, granola bars, raisins). IT WAS WONDERFUL. Everything was waiting for us at POR when we checked in and they brought it to the room for us. I really liked having the snacks, baggies etc and not having to pack them. I think it was $5.00 or $10.00 for delivery and well worth it. They even called my cell phone to let me know that the things had been delivered to the hotel.

Didn't you say your child will be 2 when you go? I don't think a 2 yr old would need 10 diapers a day! I never used that many except when they were infants. For only 6 days for a 2 yr old I would think you could easily fit them in a suitcase. If you start training her you may only need a pull up or 2 a day. It is true about the diapers giving you room for souvenirs but I really don't think you will need 60 diapers for a 2 yr old for only 6 days. Another thought is bring less than 60 and if you really need more buy them at the resort and it still probably won't cost as much as shipping or delivery.

I also second the comment about 60 diapers. I planned 5 a day and didn't even use that many. We had to bring some home with us. My guy was almost 2 at that point. Hope that helps. We are starting to try to plan trip number 2 with 4 adults and 10 kids. Packing is a big deal with this many people.

Good idea to send from home or purchase outside WDW. When our girls were little (both still in diapers) I tried to get DH to take me to Publix. He said jsut buy what you need at the resort. At that time RTF glass Similac bottles were $2 per bottle and 12 diapers were $6. :rotfl2:

I guess I did overestimate how many diapers she goes through!
I like the idea of using the suitcase and then having room for souvenirs on the way home. I never thought of that. Thanks for all the advice!
