Shipping Boxes ???

10lbs of dog food...If I remember correctly (my search isn't working) the poster has a k-9 companion

ummm, dog food? 10#? :confused3

Cash is my Service Dog. Although he would probably love to survive on DCL prime rib, I don't like to interfere with his normal digestive routine...This IS a ship after all. Trees and patches of lawn are hard to find at sea.

It didn't used to be such a mystery but our photo in my signature file got dinged for size constraints and I haven't found anyone to resize and host a replacement....
:sad1: :paw:

I wasn't sure what the PC word was...companion or service dog...I thougght it was you with your tag about the can opener!

Yeah, a companion dog is a pet...no legal standing to go where service dogs can go.....The can opener tag was a gift from the tag fairy as I was undecided whether or not to do canned or dry dog food on the first of our 2004 WDW visits and DCL cruises. I took canned...and remembered the opener...but after that first trip we changed to dry because of the weight factor...Try explaining to American Airlines that all that stuff tucked away in the checked bags is cans of dog food and a medically necessary component of my trip...
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: We sued to keep others from having to undergo the hassle factor. :paw:

Hey Betsy! Git yursef off a my thread! :teeth:

I'm the OP and I ended up shipping 3 boxes. Worked like a charm. 2 of the boxes had ... um ... adult beverages in them and they all arrived (not a one broken - whew). It was so great to NOT have to schlep 40+ individual bags of halloween candy and the costumes that I knew we wouldn't take home - not to mention the decorations I went a little overboard with. It made it a little more special for my 7 year-old who wasn't quite sure she was going to like missing trick-or-treating.

That being said, I wouldn't ship anything that you'll take back with you. No one I know of ever goes on vacation with "partially full" suitcases. Use any extra room for souvenirs!

(BTW: me luvs Bets  )

Thank you so much for this info. I have an infant going with us and we will need to make formula with bottled water. I'd hate to have to pay Disney prices for the amount we will need.

Actually, we did ship our pirate costumes to the Wonder for the 1/22/06 sailing. The hats were quite bulky and there were the boots, pants, shirts, vests, et cetera - the hats alone wouldn't have fit in a suitcase!

The warehouse may be IDL, but we addressed the boxes to DCL and they arrived safely via UPS Ground. Shipped about a week and a half before sailing. Ground took about 5 days to arrive and we didn't want them to sit around too long, but not arrive too close to the sailing date, either.

Our boxes were in our stateroom when we arrived, along with the various gift items we had ordered and the flowers (Princess won't deliver actual gift items to the stateroom, only certificates to be used in the onboard shops - yeah, Disney!).

The costumes, of course, had to be shipped home, too, so we saved the boxes under the bed, repacked them (having cleverly remembered to pack a bit of tape), tagged them and put them outside our cabin door with our luggage. Picked them up at the terminal and took them to OKW, where the front desk staff took care of shipping them home for us.

You can find the answer to just about any question you might have!!

Thank you so much to everyone who shared some information :cheer2:

Hi Aruba,

Did you 18 bottles arrive???? :confused3

We've decided to ship some things to the ship. Any way of shipping it back? If not I guess we'll head to a mail boxes etc. or usps.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to mention that I just called the warehouse and verified that it is still okay to send packages ahead of time. She said the packages needed to arrived at least 24 hours in advance. Great news since we are flying now instead of driving from TN! :cool1:

We have shipped before but have always wanted to try Pepsi. Has anyone ever shipped soda before. I would hate to have it explode!

Use Ground if you have any doubts. How do you think they get it from the manufacturer to your local stores?

Just wondering about something... We are cruising the Magic on July 8th and I was going to mail my stuff the Thursday before. Do you think that is enough time considering the July 4th holiday that is in between the 29th and the day we sail? :confused3

My DH wondered if we should mail it a day or so sooner. :confused3

Hi All,

The last 2 cruises I mailed my Packages 3 boxes the week before,(I live in the New York area) with Fedex ground. You can track it with them & they have GREAT Customer Service just in case there is a problem. Both cruises they arrived with no problem.

I did ship soda, in one of my boxes, along with some wine, and sissiors. I bubble wraped it & then bubble wrapped it, and then I bubble wrapped it some more. I just did not want to take any chances of it opening. The only problem I had, was, I hard time opening the bubble wrap. Everything arrived perfect.

The second cruise, I sent swim masks, flippers & plastic row boat (they will air fill it on Castaway Cay. The kids, had a blast in the boat. When were were thru, I just threw every thing away. It save us lot's of time & money.

Hope this helps

Patricia
