Wondering if anyone can help me with the logistics of this. My son left a coat at the hotel in Arlington, Va. where he stayed on a school trip. I called and they have the coat and will ship it to me, but the man asked if I had a fedex or ups account. I told him I would look into it and get back with him.

How would this work? I imagine I can pay for a shipping label and email it to them? How would I know the weight and size of package? Would I ask them to find a box to pack it in and weigh it for me?

Any help would be appreciated.

I would just give them your credit card number and they should ship it back to you without hesitation. Ask that they send it the most economical way (unless you need it right away) otherwise they might overnight it!

If you can use your account at work & reimburse your employer, it'll likely be cheaper. Box up another coat you have on hand to estimate the weight. I'm sure the hotel can find a shipping carton. I would generate my own label if possible rather than leaving it to them.

UPDATE:

I called UPS to set up an account. The lady there helped me decide that it would be best to arrange for a pick-up at the hotel. I would need to ask them to box it up.

Then I called the hotel to discuss this with them and the man I spoke to took my info and said they would send it to me for no charge! I guess sometimes night workers don't know all the procedures!

This was the Residence Inn Arlington Pentagon City, if anyone is interested. Nice customer service!:thumbsup2
