SHHHHH: Where are the *quiet* restaurants at Disney?

I have been looking at videos of restaurants on YouTube and they all seem so loud! We go to Disney every year and it got me to thinking... where are the quietest places you've eaten? Of course, a lot of it depends on what time of day you eat. We have eaten dinner at WCC and it was super loud but we have also eaten a late breakfast there and it was pretty low key.

Anyhow, just curious where your quietest meals have been?

Victoria & Alberts, Shula's, and perhaps some of the signatures after 8 PM. Of course everything depends on who else happens to be in the restaurant when you are.

V&A's, Shula's, Jiko, Artist Point, Citricos, Bistro de Paris are usually the quietest of the restaurants on property. V&A's and Shula's are not on the dining plan and the rest are all Signatures. Basically most other restaurants that you read about most often are not quiet. The less you hear about it the quieter it will usually be.

You are correct about restaurants being very noisy. Is it the acoustics of the rooms or what???? Not just children -- it's like everyone is using an outside voice! :scared1: Almost as if they forgot they are not alone!

Anyway ... amazingly one of the quietest ones was San Angel Inn - maybe the darkness of the area caused people to talk quietly. I think The Wave was pretty quiet too -- but most everywhere that we have been - very loud. (I laugh at people wanting romantic spots!!!).

I've really not been to signature dining but I am sure they are quiet too --

Good question!

Victoria & Alberts is the only one guaranteed to be quiet. Shulas, bluezoo, Il Mulino have a better chance of it since they aren't on the dining plan. Citricos, Artist Point and Jiko can be quiet but they can also be very noisy. Bistro de Paris used to be a lovely quiet restaurant but who knows now that it's on the dining plan as it's such a small place.

Ironically, one of the quieter places is Sci Fi. People are watching the movies and not talking so much.

{Assuming you are not referring to character meals}

1) Best "quiet" restaurants
. . . V&A
. . . Shula's
. . . Il Mulino
. . . Blue Zoo
. . . Artist Point
. . . Citricos
2) Noisiest restaurants
. . . Kouzzina
. . . Ohana
. . . Narcoossee's
. . . California Grill

NOTE: Bistro used to be quiet, but they now accept DDP and
the guest make-up is now different. The kids and folks who
do not know how to act in finer eateries are loud and boisterous.

In general terms, "Disney restaurants" and "quiet" are usually not used in the same sentence.

Shulas, Blue Zoo and Il Mulino are the most quiet of the non-Disney spots. Unless there is a convention at Swan/Dolphin--you then might find tables full of loud conventioneers on expense accounts, drinking, talking and trying to forget the boring presentations they had to sit through all day:)

Of the Disney restaurants the one most close to being quiet is Citricos.

But it's like TDC Nala suggests--it all depends on who happens to be there on a given night.

I found The Wave and Grand Floridian Cafe to be relatively quiet, particularly for the non budget-buster category.

Quietest by miles was Victoria and Alberts where no one seems to talk above a hushed whisper (truly - the head server spoke so quietly I couldn't hear him :lmao:) but it fitted the very intimate atmosphere

The Wave was very quiet and I agree with PP about Grand Floridian Cafe too, but they are quiet in different ways, GFC I think people just spoke more softly, Wave I felt didn't have much atmosphere and we were quieter because it was such a large empty space (or so it felt, even though the restaurant was full).

I suggest all restaurants are quiet at some times - we ate last October in the Cali Grill for a 9:40pm seating, but they were backed up and we didn't actually sit down until 10pm. It was beautifully quiet, we were seated in the private room all the way past the kitchens, and it was so peaceful it was lovely. But I did nearly die of hunger waiting for that table :lmao:

I think all places are going to be quieter off-peak - say around 5pm and then after 9pm. But there's a difference between quiet which can be nice, and deserted which can be awkward or nice, and lacking atmosphere, which is sad. For me different WDW restaurants fit each bill.

For the Disney owned standard table service locations, I've found The Wave to be the most quiet over the years

If you're willing to eat at "off" times, many non-signature restaurants may be quiet as well. We ate at Boma for breakfast one morning at 7:30 AM, and it was probably the most peaceful meal I've ever had...only a handful of other tables were being seated.

Tutto Italia was also very quiet during lunch. Shutters at CBR is pretty quiet and low-key, even during dinner time. Gets pretty mixed reviews though.

The Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club was very quiet and super delish! It was one of the best meals we had and my hubby got to have steak, I had crab legs and it was all one TS credit! Yummo!!!:cool1:

I like to schedule 3:00 lunches. It is not a busy time, and nearly all the restaurants open at that time are more quiet.

Nine Dragons has a peaceful atmosphere.

The least peaceful...... Marrakesh! The Belly Dancer and Live Music are not quiet. It is fun, not crowded, out of the way. I like it. It is just not quiet.

I agree with a previous poster, GF Cafe is usually pretty laid back.

So many of the WDW restaurants are cavernous places with hard surfaces all around (no cart\pet, no drapes, etc) which means the sound bounces around like crazy. We ate at Via Napoli on our last trip and the place was so noisy we HAD TO TALK THIS LOUD just to hear each other at our table.:earsboy:

I agree that the signature restaurants are more likely to be quieter, especially if you book the later dinner times. But I'd also like to point out that the way videocameras capture sound, sometimes it can seem a lot noisier on video than it will seem in person.

In general though, don't expect a quiet meal at most of the WDW restaurants.

I have been looking at videos of restaurants on YouTube and they all seem so loud!

Also bear in mind that quiet people sharing a quiet meal are less likely to be posting YouTubes of that meal. Big, happy, noisy parties are more likely to be filming their happy time.

I agree that many of the restaurants have hard surfaces that increase sound. And you will have parties with children at every single restaurant. Last year I do remember that Turf Club was a very quiet place. But honestly, one time we went to Biergarten and (between shows) IT was quiet! Who would have thought that?
