Shhh...Hubby Doesn't Know - I'm Planning Miss P's 1st Trip (Dec 2013) Updated 1/28

Hi, I'm Kirsten! I'm a Disney crazed, soon to be first time mama. I turned 30 in December. I've been to Disney at least 30 times and can't get enough. I love to trade pins, the Triple Mountain Whammy is my favorite, and LOVE Christmastime in the World. I'm currently 7 months pregnant w/ our first baby, a girl. She's due in April and I figured it's never too early to start planning her first trip to the World! She'll be 8 months at the time of our trip. I've posted a pic of me and Miss P below:

My DH is Aaron. He's not so Disney crazed -- unless I get him liquored up at Rose and Crown, first. HA! He'll be 31 in February. I've dragged him to Disney about 7 times. I'm convinced the more I take him, the more I'l break him down and he'll love the place. He currently doesn't know I've booked our trip. One of my awesome Disney friend's (thanks Kris!!) gave me an excellent idea -- wait and give him the trip as a Father's Day gift from Miss P. How can he say no to that?!

And...last, but not least -- Miss P! We found out she was a girl in November and the first thing I said was, "Ooh, I can't wait to take her to BBB!" She's due April 8th.

Some back story and why 2012 was a great and horrible year

Aaron's not a big fan of Disney. During our last trip (Dec 2011), he told me he wanted to take a few years off from going there. Of course, that really didn't really deter me. Like a true Disney fan, that's just a little bump in the road...aka NONSENSE. I went ahead and booked a trip for Dec 2012 to celebrate my BIG birthday (3-0). We were booked at BCV for a week and I was SO excited. We'd never stayed there and Aaron had fallen in love w/ it during our 2011 trip (see photographic evidence below)

Yep, that's my Disney hatin' hubby making a sand angel on the BC beach. HA!!! So, of course, when I came across points to rent I jumped on it. Well, 2012 turned into a CRAZY year. We bought our first house in June.

We moved in the last week of June and two weeks later I had Septoplasty (to correct my deviated septum). Yeah, I'll spare you the picture of that. Ugh, it was AW-FUL! Well, things took a turn for the crazier two weeks after that. I discovered I was pregnant!

HOLY SURPRISE!! We had been trying for almost a year w/ no success. In fact, I had scheduled an appointment w/ a doctor to make sure we weren't facing any fertility issues. I scheduled that appointment two days before I got a positive! It's funny how things work out. We were SO excited and a little freaked out (first time parents, after all). The pregnancy was great for the first few weeks. Then, I started getting REALLY nauseous. I mean, can't eat anything w/o puking sick. Yeah. It was awful. I also noticed a slight pain in my lower right side which started making me very worried. The nurse at my OBs office just disregarded it as typical pregnancy pain. It went away for a few days. Then, on August 28th I got REALLY sick -- like keel over, throwing up, kill me pain. I had gone up to Indianapolis for my nephew's birthday party w/ my mom and sister. On the way home, I had my mom take me to the ER. I was so scared it was something w/ the baby. Well, it turned out I had appendicitis. Great. I was admitted to the hospital and about 6 hours later had emergency surgery. It turned out, my appendix was gangrenous and had ruptured before they had a chance to remove it. It was embedded in parts of my colon, which meant they had to remove a part of my colon (but that also helped save me from going septic). I was in the hospital for about a week and then on medical leave from work for about 4 more weeks. It was HORRENDOUS! I honestly wondered if I'd ever feel better. Thankfully, the baby is a rock star and made it through with no problem. Me, not so much.

Needless to say, after everything that happened and using up all of my PTO at work we had to cancel our December trip. I was pretty bummed, but figured I'd rather save the money and perhaps use it towards a trip w/ the baby once she was born.

Hey Kris!! I swear, you're idea is the BEST. There's no way he can be upset w/ me for booking when I wrap it up in a cutesy little package from his baby girl. LOL!! I have no shame.

I think I will -- mainly b/c I think if I told him before the baby he'd worry that it was too soon and tell me I should wait until she's here to plan anything. Which, maybe he could be right but...nah.

Why a surprise?

Some of you may be wondering why I'm keeping this a surprise from the hubby. Well, 1) he's not a big fan of the planning process. In fact, he's the type that will tell me not to talk about it so much b/c he won't get excited for it until we're actually on the plane, ready to go. Well, obviously, that's not what a crazy, OCD Disney freak wants to hear. Here's a pic of how Aaron feels about the planning process:

2) When I briefly mentioned the possibility of going this year he told me why start planning so soon -- the baby's not even here yet. Um...clearly he doesn't understand how renting DVC points for your first choice resort works. It's definitely a snooze, you lose kind of thing. He doesn't understand that. But, he'll definitely be the first person to comment on how much he hates the values (I personally love them) and misses staying at one of the DVC resorts. And here's how we feels about the values (and Epcot...minus the booze at Rose and Crown, of course):

3) I saved the best for last. I was actually planning on telling him about the trip before Father's Day. I posted on Facebook about how I already booked, but hadn't broken the news to Aaron. That's when my friend, Kris (Jacksonsmom), gave me an excellent idea. She suggested I tell him about the trip on Father's Day, as a gift from Miss P. GENIUS! Clearly, he couldn't be disappointed about going back to the World when his sweet baby girl (well, we're hoping she' sweet, anyway) gave him the gift...asking him to go w/ her for her first trip to Disney World. I mean, what kind of Grinchy dad would say no to that? Exactly! Kris, you're a freakin' genius!!! I was perusing Pinterest for some ideas and I think I might go w/ this and make a sign that says something like, b/c you take me to Disney World...or something to the likes of that:
