Plus Wishes from the lounge ::yes:: I recently cancelled our Dessert Party since it would cut intoour MVMCP time .....

Love the lounge. I'm an early riser and there at 6:00.
I know it's a different experience with the dessert party but I figure with the lounge and their desserts we don't need to do the party??

:welcome: to our happy place. Poly rooms are being refurbbed.Big plus for Poly! BC definitely has the edge on proximity to Epcot...Again Poly close to both MK & Epcot...AKL is awesome :goodvibes No boat or monorail, but it's like staying at an Animal habitat, quiet, and so many activities...I don't think you'd regret staying at AKL. Do you hit the prks all day, or do you travel back and forth a lot???

After thinking about how we enjoyed an afternoon break at the Poly and love the convenience of it I decided we'll stick with the Poly. The atmosphere and location cannot be beat! I think I will make an ADR for a restaurant at AKL just to experience the resort again.

Just a quick plug for CR CL Bay Lake View (with thanks to KOOK for the advice!) Absolute best of both worlds. Quiet bay view on one side in your room and on your balcony and great MK view in the lounge. I have to say it was great for our family because I prefer the lake view and our boys prefer the MK view, so getting both was wonderful. Not to mention the comfy lounge and extremely friendly CMs. Perfect!
So glad you loved your Bay Lake View and the Atrium Club. Did you ever have trouble getting a seat? When we were last there 8/10, sometimes seating was scarce or tables/sofa were messy.

You reminded me of this:

(I have yet to try their meatballs; I'm not sure the particle board layer would agree with my tummy. :lmao: )
LOVE IT! Forwarding that cartoon to DH and DD:lmao:

Ok, I'm joining this thread!!! Ididn't think I would ever do this! My husband and I have stayed at the Poly the past few times we have visited and have the Poly booked for next year, however, I'm contemplating trying another resort. We really, really like the Poly and the convenience of it but I kind of want to try something new, and cheaper! I am really eyeing AKL but I am really hesitant due to the "convenience" factor. We spend most of our time in MK and EPCOT. We did visit the AKL for dinner a few years ago and I like the resort. The other resort I would consider is BC. I just can't decide and I'm really afraid I'll end up regretting not staying at the Poly! HELP!!!

Welcome to our little thread of big changes and much resort angst. Trying a new resort can be lots of fun and in my (and some others' here:rolleyes1) experience, if you don't like it, you can always switch the next day:thumbsup2. How about a split stay with an Epcot resort and a MK resort?

Thanks!!!! Yeah I can't stay deluxe without wishing I was CL...we stayed Poly one night (regular GV) just DH & I and I wasn't WOWed...but I didn't really give it a chance..the girls LOVE Poly, we walk the grounds every trip :lovestruc but they would really love WL too
I thought we'd really miss it, too when we tried BLT, but we really didn't. The view and beautiful, huge villa made up for not having CL.

That's a nice thing about the KK lounge is that it's open 24/7. I'm also up by 6 on vacation and headed to the gym before the lounge opens. Sometimes it'd be nice to be able to grab a beverage before 0630.

:dance3: I know you'll be happy you stayed there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh we LOVE our villas...but I haven't been back since our first CL stay :duck:

:thumbsup2
I got spoiled because we stayed at the Polynesian for our first trip. Then we moved up to CL (bad move;) We tried split stays BC. YC, GF and WL but always finished the trip at the Polynesian.
We're going in January and trying BW Cl. Stayed in the regular room last year and loved it.

If you loved a regular room at BWI, I have a feeling you will REALLY love BWI CL. :) In January, we're at Poly for the first half of our week and BWI CL the second half!

Nothing better then walking the grounds w ith the music piped in and torches lit. it's so relaxing no matter what you do there. :goodvibes

Love this thought! So happy!

The split stay MK area / Epcot area is always the answer!

And no trouble getting a seat, because we followed your advice and always arrived at the lounge either a little before breakfast or a little before evening appetizers. Although if you ask the CMs, they probably thought we lived there. :) We were resting up for MNSSHP after a morning at MK, so we and spent more time at CR than we usually do at our resort in the afternoon. I noticed the lounge was particularly well-staffed, especially in the mornings and the evening. They were constantly restocking, cleaning and talking to guests. Not sure how they did that all at once, but they did! Amanda, Mark, Matthew and Jeff were among some of the CMs there in the lounge. I wish I remembered more names because everyone was great. When we first arrived (transfer from BC at 6:40am!) they already had breakfast out and quite a few guests in the lounge. We initially sat at the table by the window on the far wall, but within a few minutes, one of the round tables in the center cleared and we were able to move over. After that, there was always a round table in the center available.

Thank you, that's good to hear.:goodvibes
It will be the first time there for my DH and 2 DD
I think they'll like walking to Epcot. I know the older one will now that's she's legal. :rotfl:

Is the daybed alot smaller then the one at the Polynesian?

I have so much to comment on but going to have to wait until I have time ;)

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!

Me three.

I was trying to get some of my mother's estate paperwork finalized and my mind wandered and somehow I found myself lurking over here. Oops.

Better get back on track as the boys will be off the bus soon and I'm knee deep in paperwork.

ps. I'm feeling really CR -ish again so no changes will happen for today. Of course after reading all of the Poly talk I'm feeling a Poly-ish too but then I'm always feeling that way. :hyper:

:goodvibes Happy Tuesday to my RCer sisters! Sorry I haven't been around as much, life has gotten very hectic since returning home, and of course I had to get over that funk I was in once I got home.....I'm feeling somewhat better now, I can think of Disney without feeling the sense of dread and sadness I felt before. I can remember the good times of our trip, and look forward to the time when I can go back again.....for a bit there I was wondering if I even really wanted to ever go back!!! that scared me, as a Disney Lover that I am, I felt very weird thinking those thoughts!

I can see a couple more trips in my future at least -- DS 16 just handed me his DGF $250 last night and asked me to put it in a special account for her because she has a tendency to let money wash through her hands like water, and they still want me to take them after they graduate in 2014.....so, I can see that trip being something to look forward to. Then, DH and I have our 25 wedding anniversary in March 2016.....But I'm beginning to think about perhaps even going back to where it all started for us -- Disney Land for that milestone?? I haven't been back since 1990 when DH/then DBF took me on my first trip outside of Canada!!! we drove 24 hours straight to aneheim and went to DL.....so it might be nice to see all the new happenings at DL......
At least I'm happily considering some options to Disney again....for a bit there I wasn't sure of my Disney future!! that felt so wrong, and foreign!!! I am glad to have my happiness back when I think of my beloved Disney!

Also -- I'm in my planning groove again, My DH's cousin from England is planning his first trip with himself and his boys for May 19-30th, 2013....He found out what a Disney buff I am and dropped the ball in my court to help him get a good deal....so I've been scouring the UK site and trying to learn my way around how to book internationally....it's been quite a learning curve, but I think I found him a pretty good deal for Animal Kingdom Lodge, bunk bed savanah view....now deciding whether to go club level (can't book that online though, which is a problem I'm trying to figure out to get a quote for club level add on cost) -- or Deluxe Dining/ no club level.
It's nice to have someone to help plan for -- if it's not myself , loved ones are the next best thing!!

Things have been hectic at work because I've gone through another partner! so I am back to Full time --ughhhh......you all know how I like my part time schedule! It's hard to go through postings, interviews, training and hiring only to have people quit after a short time! I've gone through 3 different partners this yr. alone. People go onto bigger things, but I love my little job! I have a new boss in 2 weeks, as our business mgr is retiring after 35 yrs. of service, and the new boss came to meet me the other day and asked me "don't you want to work full time???" I said , that wasn't an option as this was a job share position -- but I'm open to possibilities. She said, well, it's something we might look into if the job share thing keeps being unsuccessful -- maybe reclassifying me as full time! Now DH was jumping for joy and adding up the extra pay last night already when I mentioned it to him -- but I am not sure yet what to feel if that is offered to me!! I like my hours but I'd have a hard time turning down the extra money..... I guess we shall see what the future holds!
I wanted to let you all know I am here and thinking of you all -- so excited for those still planning!
hugs to my friend Jenny, sorry to hear about the scare with your Dad. I am glad it's working out!! yes, roles changing can be a daunting thing. Know we are all here for you if you need to talk , we care so much for you!!

Candace - Just throwing my 2$ in for the BC CL thing-- I didn't mind BC CL, the food offerings where nice, but the lounge was way too small, you literally felt on top of everyone else. It definitely needs some more room, then I think it would be wonderful! Now, I am thinking for my next stay, I'd love to try BWI DLX CL......perhaps my son's grad trip -- my heart also belongs to AKL CL too, but splitting is hard when you want the ddp and package, etc....
and as much as my DS says I'll be 18 by then, there's no way I want him in the same bed as DGF!!!!
I'm thinking BWI CL DLX might be the way to go for that trip!! ;) -- plus in BWI DLX room it doesn't matter how many over 18 are there, does it???

Love to you all!

Marie

And it's not actually regarding a resort change!!!! :lmao:

So, I am pondering our rough itinerary for our 11 day trip in April, and I really want some suggestions of NEW things for us to do as a family.

I think we are getting to the point that we have gone soooo much, I'm not really sure what else to do.

Already, we will be trying some new restaurants -- Plan to book at Yachtsman Steakhouse, Be Our Guest, Cape May Cafe.

We are obviously trying a new resort for us - BC!!!

But as far as experiences...what have you got???? We have done BBB, Pirates League, CRT (twice)....most of the character meals....

I was thinking doing Pick a Pearl in Epcot, maybe the Phinneaus and Ferb thingie (my girls LOVE that show)...how about the shows at AK?? We've done neither of them (Lion King or Nemo)...suggestions??? We will check out the Boardwalk area, which we've never done...

I know you guys talk about the dessert party....that would be new...but we're not a huge dessert family so I'm not sure the expense would be worth it...

Help!?!?! Trying to keep it fresh here, but it's difficult with this being our 4th trip in under 3 years... :cutie:

Candace: There would be TONS of extras you can do with all that money you save for going non-CL. :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

Have your girls done the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom thing? I saw it when we were there at MK; looks sorta-kinda like the Phineas & Ferb thing at Epcot (which I want to try too!).

ESPN over on the Boardwalk! Fresh for breakfast over at the Dolphin (for a break from the characters). Surrey bikes. There's also a kids-only pirate cruise starting from the YC (not done this, sounds cool though).

yes, we did see people doing the Sorcerer thing while there in July, that's a possibility. We do plan on going to ESPN (DH insists!)

Surrey bikes look like fun! :thumbsup2

I know my oldest would have no issues with the pirates cruise, but I think that my youngest might be a little shy to actually do it...:worried:

I KNOW that there is tons of stuff that we have not done yet, but I'm finding difficulty compiling a list. :headache:

My girls all loved the Phineas and Ferb adventure at Epcot! We did it twice but they really could've done it all day at Epcot. It was a great way to see little nooks and crannies of the countries that we had not noticed before. Hmmm....I feel like I have mentioned this before! If I have I am sorry for repeating myself! :goodvibes

I made a new ticker for our November trip, and it has cheered me up immensely! I have a WWYD for you ladies about becoming a lunch supervisor at the DD's school later..

To Marie, Iheartthemouse, pas, Kook, MM, Melissa, and everyone else who offered hugs to me thank you again!! :goodvibes:hug:

Dznycrzy: nice to see you over here!

Mousemommy - Are your girls into World Showcase? When we stay over on the Epcot side we like to spend our evenings enjoying a country in depth. For example if we did Germany:

Drink for adults - Beer
Snack to share - Hot Pretzel and Bratwurst
Kids color at Kidcot and get their Passport stamped
P&F Mission (haven't done this one yet but they did the KP one there before)
Candy to share - salted caramel from Karmel Kuche :faint:
Small family souvenir from the gift shop - pickle ornament from the Christmas shop
Meet Snow White
*Some countries have entertainment so we try to catch that too if we can (love Miyuki in Japan and the acrobats in China!)

We usually spend 1-2 hours really getting into the country this way. It's a great way to just slow down and relax and it doesn't hurt that the kids learn a bit too! :goodvibes

I love the sound of that plan, I_Heart. Forgot about the coloring and the passport, going to write that down so I don't forget to do it in January. :thumbsup2

Marie, Melissa and Jen: :grouphug:

Marie, glad to hear of your planning... even if it's not for yourself at the moment! :goodvibes

Jen, yay for new tickers!

Hrm, I need some advice... I just realized that the Osborne Lights will be up until the 4th of January! Is it a must-do? Opinions of you experts appreciatively requested. Maybe we'll hit up HS on the 3rd so as not to do it on the "last day"... I'm kinda-maybe excited over this. (Although perhaps after all the Christmas shenanigans and already seeing decorations for sale, I might be sick of it all by then. :crazy2: )

That's a really great idea!!! My girls actually DO love WS!!! Staying at the BC, we will have many opportunities to do this!

We saw the Osborne Lights in 2009. We weren't even planning on seeing them as we were there over Thanksgiving week, but they happened to be up so we saw them. It's really neat, and way better than any display you'd see in your neighborhood! :lmao:
