I'm skipping OCI today for BLT. We're getting there pretty early, around 1100 and the CR is never very crowded then - just some late check-outs mostly.

Someone needs to tell me why this IS or IS NOT a bad idea: I was mowing the lawn and it hit me! No, not a rock. I started thinking about why I'm doing a split stay at all:confused3. Yes, I know the original reason - to try a new resort with our own bedroom and bathroom for a few nights before our favorite, WL/CL. DD also really wants to try BLT and have her own bathroom and remarkably, she isn't a CL fan anymore because she claims we spend too much time in the lounge and DH always wants to be back for cobbler and some appetizers... Yes, we are very cruel parents. But, I don't think she thought carefully about her complaint - when she doesn't want to go to the lounge, we let her stay in the room or bring back her food - it's a parent-free zone!! Without CL, she's stuck with us all the time!! (Yes, it works both ways;))

I'm just questioning even bothering with another resort for only 3 nights and I feel a tad silly paying more for a room without CL. Yes, it would give us a great idea of whether we like it or not and we know we already really like the CR so we know we'll love the location and view, but DH would be thrilled with just WL for 12 nights like last summer, but then DD would be disappointed, (she admonished me not to change a thing after I finally snagged BLT:scared:). Me, I just want everyone happy so I'm torn. Now, it would be nice not having to switch resorts (I do all the re-packing) and we do love working out at WL and jogging to FW... HELP! I'm getting very emotional about WL, even over not being there for 3 nights:sad:

So what should I do - stick with the 3/9 split or change to all WL/CL?

I was just over reading the thread about the families altercation on Its a Small World, Yikes!!!
Can't find the post - which forum is it in? Of course, this will be yet another reason my DD and DH won't want to go on IASW:guilty:

Good morning ladies!

KOOK, freshman orientation, a good reason to cut the trip short a day. How exciting for your daughter, is she looking forward to high school? :cheer2:

A preview of Saturday for pas! Tea anyone?

:wave2:DD is looking forward to high school and she didn't mind missing orientation since she's been in the school many times for camps and recitals. But, I changed my mind (a first on the RC thread:rolleyes:) and thought it would put us more at ease with the transition since she would get her schedule and locker before school starts.

What a cute photo for our pas130, but in the interest of fair play, I just have to post a photo that might interest her DH more than silly tea:snooty:

Kook: I'll put in a vote for WL-CL for the entire stay. Simply because, although being able to walk to MK is a nice perk, you'll already be "in the vicinity" over at WL. Besides, WL is your true home. :goodvibes ... oh, and the CL thing.

Along the lines of "playing" Polynesian....my DD's have a new game....they pretend they are working in the CRO!!!! :rotfl2:

"Yes, Wilderness Lodge, 7th floor, close to the cookies please"....
This is my new room request :lmao:

PAS, 1 day to WDW, 2 days until you see Dani!!! excited yet?

A preview of Saturday for pas! Tea anyone?

So excited!!!!!!!! :yay::yay::yay:
So happy for you!!!

I still never officially discussed the fact I have airline tix for HRH & I next month....waiting to get DH in a happy place ;)

57 days!!! :dance3::dance3:
Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

One more day for Pas!

Please, take us in your suitcase? We won't take up much room, promise. ;)

40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
40 days!!!! Fantastic. I pack light & get 2 free checked bags...Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....you may attend!:cool1:

So my thoughts....you didn't do OCI because you are almost ready to change....

3 nights at BLT is a good thing, DD will get her own Bathroom and you and DH get your own bedroom..this IS a good thing...it is!!!

And about the OFC pics, not showing then to DH, he is already over the moon with WL, I've hyped it up...a LOT...we are going to get to RPC and he'll be running for the monorail to get back to WL :scared:

kook ~ I vote for all WL CL. That is just :cloud9:

You know this!!!

How often are you going to be in the room fighting over a bathroom anyways? :confused3

Good morning ladies!

jenny, did I read correctly that your girls don't know about the trip? How the heck have you pulled that one off? When are you going to tell them, or make them guess at the airport? I am so excited to meet you, NEXT MONTH!
Yes it is true, they still have no idea! :rolleyes1 I don't know how we have managed it so far, the UPS truck came yesterday with our magical express info, and they were right there but DH told them it was 'bank stuff' as we are in the middle of refinancing our mortgage right now. We are planning on getting them about lunchtime from school, and then heading down to Buffalo to stay the night near the airport and fly out early the next morning! :woohoo:

So....we are going to tell them when we get them from school that day. I want to have t-shirts made ( I got some Disigns from one of the Disigners) and then give them to the girls then. Hopefully it all goes smoothly! I have read some horror stories here on the Dis about WDW surprises that aren't well received...

But they are still asking us all the time when we might get to go back, and the other night DD6 was quite upset that when we do get to go back (in 10 years or so) she will be too old to try BBB! So this should be good.princess:

Sweet! I'm headin' on up to hop in Pas' suitcase. Who's with me? :woohoo:

I'm with you ladies... popcorn::

Kooooooook! Enquiring minds...

Funny story, we were watching home movies today of when DD8 was the only one, a 10 month old baby. Boy, I noticed something about myself watching those.....I was much nicer!!! Calmer, smiling all the time, yikes....things have changed! Now I still am a nice, calm sometimes, smiling person, but not like that!:confused3

I told DH what I noticed, and he said "If you think you are different in those videos...watch some of when we were first married!! You were an angel! Now you are like one of those flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz!" Of course he followed this up with a big hug and an "I love you" :duck: Smart move.

OK, I'm back from picking up DD:car: and yes, my car is red!

Yes, that is part of the issue, both resorts are on Bay Lake, both room views are of Bay Lake, they're in the vicinity of the MK, as you so deftly pointed out. But, we have that soft spot for our second favorite - CR, and BLT should be even better than CR because the room is twice as large, but it's not WL (I state the obvious).

A happy cobbler or scone place should be just perfect to spill the September trip beans over.

FINE THEN!!! So maybe I also didn't do OCI because it makes the whole BLT thing seem so permanent and unchangeable - have you thought about being a therapist, too? Or did you come up with that because of your very own OCI avoidance? You are so spot on and so smart:thumbsup2

kook ~ I vote for all WL CL. That is just :cloud9:

You put three only children in a room and all of a sudden the walls start closing in on you:crowded: I like your points, and somehow knew what your vote would be. But then, you're booked at the Poly/CL in April, so how much weight should I give your vote?

kooaliciouspopcorn::
She's contemplating asking DH, but then she sort of knows what his answer would be,"You know WL/CL is my favorite and I would be very happy there the whole trip - but do whatever you want." :sad2:

Kook: I vote WL CL the whole trip...it just sounds lovely there.:thumbsup2
Jenny, it is lovely - nearly perfect and why mess with perfection? Because we're Resort Changers:upsidedow

Sweet! I'm headin' on up to hop in Pas' suitcase. Who's with me? :woohoo:

Kooooooook! Enquiring minds...
If I hop in I might get dizzy with all the changes...

I love yours, Candice and Jenny's answer (notice I skipped Jeanette's - she had to play devils advocate). I guess my DD's probable reaction keeps playing in my head and my having stewed over this split since I first booked this trip on 11-11-11! Could I live with myself if I cancel the split after having booked:

AKL/CL
CR/CL
YC/CL
RPC
VWL and Kidani and BLT?

THANK YOU for the reminder about the new rooms - I actually completely forgot about that. We chat about that on the thread so much that I somehow wiped it from my memory. Now you've got me closer to reaching for the phone - maybe...

Yes, I saw Steve's email about that and I'm very tempted to call, mostly because I'm curious about the blackout dates. This year, spring break was blacked-out, BUT, I was able to book both BWI and WL anyway at 40% off during spring break. I'm hoping to do the same next year. I'd love to book Christmas, but I'm sure they actually have that blacked-out, although last year it wasn't blacked-out until the 26th. Do you know if SOG officially stopped offering WDW resort overflow rates?

Kook: Hmm. Only 3 nights at BLT? It might be nice to have that as a little something different before your favourite. Honestly, it sounds like either plan is a "win, win" for you lot.

That car looked distinctly like Heather's Ferrari-van! :lmao:

---------------

The kiddo. She up and says to me, totally unprovoked: "Mommy? I'd like to go to the Poly this September." :faint: Then... then the little bugger says -- also completely out of nowhere: "Can we have breakfast with Minnie and Goofy again this year?"

She's been reading this thread, I swear... :lmao:

Jenny, I am so excited for the surprise! It sounds like it is well thought out, and honestly, there is no way they won't be sooo excited :yay:! I can't wait to hear about how the surprise goes...and I can hear all about it when we are in WDW! popcorn::

missoutandabout, are you surprising the kids also? :confused3 And, again, if so, I get to hear all about it when we are in WDW! BC CL to be specific! :goodvibes

pas, only one more sleep and you are on your way! Timing is everything with a DH, get him relaxed at the OFC and then you can tell him about the RPC and the trip in September. It's all in the timing :hourglass

Oh KOOK, what are we going to do with you?! :scratchin It seems like there are both pros and cons for BLT/WL CL split stay versus WL CL the whole trip. My vote would be for WL CL only. You are wavering on BLT, that's not good. If something isn't right with the room you will regret staying there. (remember BWI with the noisy, bright sign outside your window?). However, you know you will love WL CL for the whole stay. Another thought, does a BLT split stay makes more sense when you aren't staying at another MK resort? Keep us posted...who knows where the KOOK family will end up? pas on the other hand is too predictable...she gravitates toward the RPC. :cool2:

Uncanny how those cars look so similar:scratchin

The question is: How did you answer your daughter????

My head hangs in shame, my tail is between my legs and I can't look you in the eye:flower3:. I'm sorry. You're so right about something not being right with the room. I used to read all those BLT reviews that mentioned that the rooms were in bad condition with crayon marks and chipped furniture, etc... Has that all been cleaned-up by now? Probably not, but DH has heard all about those dents, chips and crayon marks and always jokes that, "We're staying where Godzilla stayed!" But at WL, the room is practically brand new and Godzilla probably hasn't even stayed there yet.

Is there a bright, noisy sign in Bay Lake, too? Why, yes! The Electrical Water Pageant! I'm doomed. No, I love that thing, BUT, at the CR/BLT it comes at 10:10 and practically wakes me up (I'm sleepy by then). BUT, at WL it comes at 9:35, a FAR more respectable hour for everyone to do the dinosaur;)

You're THE best JC, you know me way too well:hug:. I'll keep you posted, but we really need to keep our eyes on Jeanette.

Um, if you stayed at the GF you would see The Turtle (my personal favorite in the EWP) at 9:15 on the dock. :rolleyes1

No surprises about the trip, but I do have a little "in room" Halloween surprise planned with the help of IPO. :hyper: I'll be able to tell you all about that in person... at the BC! :goodvibes I've got all my appendages crossed nothing -- including United States Immigrations -- will keep us from going. :thumbsup2 (Not even my hubs knows about this little surprise thing. Going to do some little goodies for the kiddo, some Halloween cupcakes, sparkling cider and I'm going to bring along some Halloween decorations to put up in the room. That is, of course, if I can manage to sneak back to the room without being too obvious. :rolleyes1 )

I haven't purchased our party tickets yet. I'm worried if I purchase them now, we'll definitely get a letter saying the hubs' green card interview appointment will be scheduled smack-bang in the middle of our Disney trip. :rotfl2: I don't want to jinx anything!

If something isn't right with the room you will regret staying there. (remember BWI with the noisy, bright sign outside your window?). Keep us posted...who knows where the KOOK family will end up?

You know, I've always wondered about how that sign affected the rooms it happens to be near. Now I know! :rotfl: I think we prefer the other side of the lake. :thumbsup2

The question is: How did you answer your daughter????

Ixnay on the Olypay. :rolleyes1

I'm already hyperventilating over our meager 5 ADRs; I might have to cancel one to make room for a Cape May breakfast. :lmao: I know there's no way we'd be able to walk by on the way to the pool without a "Hey MOMMY! When are we eating breakfast there?!"

I'm in a permanent state of confuddlement. :confused3

So, the 2013 military discount is "officially" out today. If you'll recall, it was supposedly out last Friday, and I swooped in there and got my Poly CL at 40% off. :cool1: Several other people were able to book before the CM's were instructed to stop booking until Disney makes the official announcement...

I got my confirmation, made a sizable deposit and it's on the website that I have the room at our amazing price, so I should be all set right???

I keep seeing how everyone is reporting very limited availability at every resort (even Poly, where the only rooms available are apparently LV CL...)

I just keep thinking that my reservation is somehow "illegal"...am I being dumb??? I don't want to call and check because I don't want them to find an illegal code on my ressie or something and then lose my room...:confused3

Again, sorry if that's dumb.

Howdy Mousemommy,
Oh, goodness, not dumb at all. I've booked military rate rooms for the past few years. Depending on the dates/resort/room the availability varies a lot. I've tried to book WL CL and there were no rooms CL for my dates (mil rate) in the past, even though there was availability (at rack rate) on the website. I'm sure there is a mathematical reasoning to all this, it's over my head, though. :rotfl2:

Sometimes you hit the right days off the bat, which is great. Here's a tip a CM gave me :thumbsup2-- sometimes you need to add a day on one end or the other, and drop it later to get the rate for your specific dates. ;)
Sometimes, what you want is not available, but it may be in a couple of weeks. It's hit or miss. I do think that the primo reservations--like yours at the Poly--are ones to be careful to hold onto until you are absolutely certain you want to change. It can sometimes be hard or impossible to get really good ones again.

I hope I can set your mind at ease. I had two rooms booked in Nov, one for hubster and me, one for son and family. I was able to switch to YC CL (standard view, military rate) the day the codes were available for a short time before they were "pulled." I grabbed the reservations. I never got confirmations. I called today to get confirmations on both rooms, everything is OK, no problem. They sent confirmations later this afternoon.

You've probably already logged on, saw your reservation, right? Is the math correct? If so, I think you're fine. Another quick check, I sometimes use, I confirm date/price/resort/room at the time I make a payment.

I totally understand the concern, no one wants an unexpected unpleasant surprise. I'm sure Kook can also help with information with the mil rate, I think she's an expert in that department. :thumbsup2
