HEY! HOLD ON HERE! That ribbon looks just like one I once posted but, I don't mind.
:rotfl2: I like your latest change BTW....thanks for the ribbon

Oh dear, I am so late. Jeanette, thanks for putting the list up for me! I am fine, but had a bit of an accident today. I have neuropathy in my feet from all the chemo. I have been known to stumble, but I always catch myself, until this afternoon. I did a face plant on the sidewalk outside of the hair salon where I get my hair cut. Long story short, I am sooo lucky, have a scraped and banged up chin, cuts on my palm and sore wrist. Went right over to my oncolgists office and had the nurses look at me (one of the few benefits of cancer, you can always be seen right away!), they cleaned me up and made sure I was okay. Just sore and scraped up. I look like I was in a fight
Sarah, please stop beating people up at the hairdressers...seriously, glad you are OK. Rest my friend...some healing vibes coming your way :goodvibes

"Kookster", good one Pas; that has a nice ring to it.
I have several rockin' nicknames for our Lodge Tempress :lovestruc

How could you go and do that just when we were all getting better this week?!

And, while we're on the topic (JC will LOVE this one), why do I still want to stay in a FW Cabin so much? Oh, and why can't Poly/CL get better reviews?! I still love the idea of a lagoon view CL room there, but those reviews are still pretty awful.
I can just picture Sarah smiling as she reads this ::yes::

The cabins are ok. I really don't think I'd stay there again without either a rental or a golf cart, or both. I reeeeealllly hated doing the bus to bus or bus to boat thing. It might not be so bad now that most of my kids are mobile, but when I went we had a double and a single stroller and it was awful!

But speaking of changes (Yoohoo JC!)I just changed to a split so we are...

8/14-8/18 Poly TPV CL
8/18-8/21 BC CL

If you switch maybe I'll run into you at SAB!
I liked FWC also, but I'd rather do AoA...not that I'm encouraging anyone to change....

I love this split....:lovestruc

Mama Backson and Baby Backson
:rotfl:

I am fine, it looks like I was in a fight :lmao: I took some Tylenol, no ibuprofen for me My DH suggested we buy me a walking stick at AKL when we go in September
Those walking sticks are neato...but it wouldn't match your GF decor at home...maybe a parasol

So - is it insane to change my resort because PL isn't available when I have booked? I am asking the wrong group lol. I really shouldn't change my dates because they match the kids' school calendar. BUT, I really wanted to do Pirate's League on the MNSSHP night! I guess I keep calling every day and hope for openings.
No reason is insane...keep calling! Something will open up!!!!!

I want to make sure she's not afraid to "march to the beat of her own drum." This is at 5 years old, what am I in store for?!
You did fine IMHO, and she will be A-OK. She may be a hit with boys though watch out...

Amanda, chimo, missoutandabout and anyone else with MNSSHP experience, please share any and all MNSSHP tips - we have our tickets for October 8 and we'll be MNSSHP first-timers!
We did Oct. 31...it was great!!! But, alas it was 2003 I think. Sold out...not crowded, free chocolate. Great parades, fireworks, characters, short lines...only problem. DS was asleep in the stroller by 915pm and a little rain...so our night was cut short.

Need to talk to our RC Queen aka Pas before I update the list on page one. Since I didn't type in the post, I can't edit it So, the new list in going to be on page 5 below until Jeanette and I figure this out.
No worries, I'll copy & paste as it updates...and save it to page 1!
Nothing like being late to the party Now I'm going back to read....it must be good if there are almost 6 pages!!! Y'all are killing me!!
About time heather:rolleyes1 JK, I was starting to worry  LOVE the Poly pic!

Geez I made one comment on the Poly thread that Tikiman isn't always correct and now I'm being accused of being harsh and picking on him. Sometimes I wonde why I even post anywhere but here.
 You are the voice of reason on the Poly thread...don't stop posting, sis...but I totally understand....here, GF, WL the only safe threads on the Dis...and some VIP TRs of course...

I definitely prefer to just post here. I hardly post anywhere else.
I get mad when I see my family getting attacked...I go into Mommy mode :headache:

You all have to pinky-swear that you will follow my PTR and my TR. One of my biggest nightmares is writing a TR that no one reads...

I am SO bad with pinky swears..but step, you have a heart felt promise that I will subscribe to your TR:hug:
pas, you made me blush. (and lol)
 You know I love ya!

Wait until the new refurb - that's when I'll be back at my beloved Polynesian!
It's becoming a dilemma in my mind for 2013.

Poly vs GF :faint:

For those who want to throw in the towel on other threads - please don't let a few incidents keep you from enjoying the boards. I know, easy to say when you aren't "in it" and I have had plenty of episodes of hurt feelings or...well, let's just say it, anger!...from a scolding here or there for what seems to me so little. Overall, though, most of the posters are kind and eager to help, even those who are sometimes a little touchy. Try not to take it to heart.

For what it's worth, you are all welcome over on the GF FAQ.
Highly recommend the GF thread :worship:

And I am very sensitive to those little grouchy comments, I have to breathe, and really think of a reply that is not nasty, and diplomatic (yes I get nasty when I am mad)

Thanks for the heads up, Jeanette!

Hi, everybody! Sorry I haven't posted much lately! I do try to catch up as much as possible when I can. I have been very consumed with planning our trip for Sept/Oct. I think I finally have everything the way I want it. So, hopefully, I'll have more posting time!
We know where to find you! Don't be sorry, we all get busy....I just wanted to be sure you knew where our new home is!

Wow! I get home from work and we are on page 7? You guys are amazing! I just wanted to say a few things before giving DH some special attention...
Dh and I fought for an hour last night because I don't give him enough attention....I still feel sad this morning....

Hope you're all doing well! We did something today that we've never done on our Disney trips...we spent the entire day at the resort!!! Except for a couple of hours at DTD (my poor wallet)...

That is one thing we have noticed in our first deluxe resort...we want to be here more....and though we loved our value stays, we never just wanted to "hang out" at them...
I liked hanging at Pop too...All Stars not as much, so glad you had the opportunity to hang at WL....:lovestruc

Now I am late getting out the door...

Gotta run, but I wanted to mention I got a flyer from Loews yesterday...40% off rooms at any Universal hotel Aug 15-Dec 15th.....why can't WDW send me one. Now HRH wants a split stay :rolleyes2

Amanda....nice to see you over here:thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

Keep all those families in Colorado in your thoughts and prayers....such a tragic event this morning.

It is, indeed. :( So scary the world we live in these days.

I think I am going to go with the pirate theme for my family and then if by some luck we get into PL, we will be ready. I wasn't planning for dh and I to do PL but I was going to get us some sort of costume or at least tshirt to match the rest of the family. I am very concerned about 13 yo dd not wanting to dress up so I think the Pirates theme works well because there are lots of cute costumes for her. I will just bring my black eyeliner and DS's halloween makeup and if we can't get in, we will be DIY pirates!

That sounds like a perfect costume theme for y'all.....especially with having a 13 y/o dd. :thumbsup2

We know where to find you! Don't be sorry, we all get busy....I just wanted to be sure you knew where our new home is!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Awesome! :woohoo: Split stay sounds great! I am really wanting to do that for our 2014 trip. Yep, I'm already planning 2014. :rotfl: Hopefully, I'll get something fantastic like that.

Good morning! A little beat up and sore, but in good shape today!

Dani ! Silly, silly people. You can post as many exclamation points as you want on this thread :goodvibes How are you and the kids feeling?

BOO TO YOU AND YOU AND YOU...Happy Hallowishes! I love all this talk about the MNSSHP, it is wonderful. No, we have never dressed up...we haven't gone with little kids and if you knew my husband you wouldn't ask that :rotfl: We bought the CD years ago of the Party Music, so I have the Hallowishes music and the Boo to You Parade music loaded on my iTunes. If anyone wants me to make them a CD, just PM me your address and I will send it along. It is so easy to do and it would be my pleasure! I already made Janet one...warning the songs are addictive!

Minnie & Nana, have fun with Miss Sophie today

I have to agree about relaxing at the Deluxe resorts :goodvibes Now that we are older, and don't have kids we love to spend time at the resorts, relaxing, reading, swimming, taking walks, whatever. I LOVE the query about "what parks", it is all about the food! Dani, what soup are you talking about, the french onion? I would walk miles for that soup and then a crepe from the stand outside Chefs de France! I laughed so hard at the picture of your mother in her scooter, pulling you from behind on a skateboard :rotfl2: Perhaps a Segway would do it?!!! (notice the exclamation marks :rotfl:)

Hope everyone has a good day. It's rainy and cool here, wonderful. The grass if fried from the heat and the sun, so the rain is much needed...and I have to say a day in the upper 60's in wonderful!

A morning report from the infirmary: I have freakin hand foot mouth. WTH!!! How would I even acquire such a ridiculous illness if neither of my kids have it? They better not get it now!!! My tongue hurts SO bad I can barely talk. I'm sending my dad to get me 2 big containers of Italian ice because I know I won't be able to eat anything else. (Janet remember our convo? :rotfl:)

Good Morning!

Hope all is well on this Friday!

Dani, since your trip is so close, I thought this picture would work perfectly for you;)

DSC_1055.jpg

LOVE it!

Oh, I so get what you mean! Over the years it I've often tried to explain this to friends who have not stayed deluxe - especially in an MK or EPCOT resort. We love the parks too, but when staying at a lovely resort it changes the trip (in a positive way) and some days it is hard to leave the resort for a park. I know not all will not understand, but I'd rather visit less often and be able to stay deluxe. It is the best R&R anywhere for me.

Good Morning, RCers!!

Another beautiful photo, Heather - thank you!:lovestruc

I am so happy it is finally Friday - this had to be one of the longest weeks I've had in a long time; very happy it is coming to an end.:thumbsup2

Sophia and I are off to do some errands this morning - she loves wandering aorund The Christmas Tree Shop so it is a nice hot morning "activity". Then we'll walk over to Target. Maybe we can even squeeze in Babies R Us so she can ride Dumbo. ::yes::

Hope it is a great day for all! Some of the countdowns are looking great!:goodvibes

What a nice grandma. Sophia is so lucky to have you.

You are a woman after my own heart! Rides? There are rides at Disney? I thought it was a restaurant destination.......:rotfl2:

This is where I want you to be, with an adult beverage, watching the world go by...

DANI!:scared1: you just need to catch a break from all this illness! I hope this clears up in time for you to enjoy your trip! You sooooo need the break! Praying healing thoughts for ALL of you!

Just for fun, I decided to price some changes/ new resorts (I am a RCer, right!) just to see if there where any better/ similar things available for my dates.....you know, with our Sis MM loving WL CL and all.......I got a little wheels turning in my head!"....................OH WELL, didn't take long to put the brakes on any ideas of change! :faint: every scenario is $2,000 to $3,000 more than I am paying for my FD Poly CL pkg! Anyone who tells me FD isn't a good deal at a deluxe will be getting the  look.......because, this Yr it's the BEST deal out there for us! It is literally saving us a heap! Approx $1600 or more! I am so glad I booked when the Canadian offer was out, because if I'd have waited, I'd only be able to get it starting on the 30 of Sept! THE CdN offer was earlier into Sept, so I got it for our whole stay from Sept 28 to Oct 4, so it really worked out better for us.....even room discount doesn't come close to the savings that FD did!

I guess I can officially say I am done looking at other scenarios for this trip :) I've been settled at the POLY since about Jan now......and I'll be staying put :lovestruc Such a hard problem to have , eh? :rotfl: :cloud9:

pas I am always getting deals for lowes but I don't think I got that one, have to go check I think that would make me change to PBR

That's a nice discount, Sheila! If I wasn't already getting an amazing manager deal for our HRH room ( free upgrade to CL and a deluxe queen room) at $159 per night! --- I'd be looking for that pin too!!!

TGIF!!

Kook: Nice RC to the YC CL. ::yes:: .... seems like a win-win all around.

Vicki_c got mad at me because I used an exclamation mark. I was like, "That's not true!" and explained my experience and she said that I shouldn't get all up in arms about what someone had said. It's not like I used a hundred exclamation marks. I used one. Apparently that means I was being mean and freaking out. I hate it when people make those kinds of assumptions. It's just a punctuation. :sad2:

People on these boards really are ridiculous sometimes. I was just pointing out that his info isn't correct 100% of the time. What news source is? I guess I'm not allowed to point things out, and you can't use exclamation marks. :rotfl:

I laughed so hard at the picture of your mother in her scooter, pulling you from behind on a skateboard :rotfl2: Perhaps a Segway would do it?!!! (notice the exclamation marks :rotfl:)

Exclamation points!! :rotfl2: Love them!! Well, that brings another Seinfeld to mind .... Jake Jarmel would of been wise to use a few !!! when taking messages for Elaine!! (double exclamation points!!)

It got cut last year because we were just too tired and it was too hot to imagine walking ALL the way to France to eat soup. :crazy2: This year I am going if I have to sit on a skateboard and have my mom tow me on her ECV. Now THERE is a mental image for ya! :lmao::rotfl2:

THIS we HAVE to see!!! Will Danimal take a pix for us?

Marie: Dress up as much or little as you would like for MNSSHP. :) A quick outfit is a hippie, a tie dye shirt, comfortable jeans (have the kids use sharpies and write some flower power sayings on them, headband, glasses, some peace signs, and you are good to go! :thumbsup2 Don't sweat it, you will look great no how or little you dress up!!

Amanda: Love your costume ideas!! I'm sure you all will look fabulous ... how nice of your friend to make a costume for you!! :)

Basket Lacey: Love the pirate idea for MNSSHP!! We went to the Pirate & Princess party a few years back and loved it!! Of course we went as Pirates! Arrrrrgh!!! pirate:

Dh and I fought for an hour last night because I don't give him enough attention....I still feel sad this morning....

Good morning! A little beat up and sore, but in good shape today!

Dani, you poor thing  Let's hope you get better quick and don't spread it to the kiddos!

I'm sending my dad to get me 2 big containers of Italian ice because I know I won't be able to eat anything else. (Janet remember our convo? :rotfl:)

YES!! Italians ices to the rescue!! They are THE best!

Heather .... goregous pix as always!!

MM ... hope it's another magical day for you in the world!

Hi to all! Another busy day!!

We were talking about maybe going to US and staying @ PBR in 2013 but a good discount like that would have me there this trip. Even with FD I just hate to spend $500 a night for the room, ya know? It still breaks down to $400 + a night since there are only 2 of us getting FD.

Yes, that's a great discount! and I love the dark side too......soo much fun and the resorts are top notch :thumbsup2
I can see what you mean about FD for 2, it worked out so well for us this year because we are 4 adults! :)

Whoa, look at all I've missed!

Good afternoon to all! It's Friday, Friday, Friday... (imagine that in one of those 'Monster Truck' voices for the right effect.) ;)

Geez I made one comment on the Poly thread that Tikiman isn't always correct and now I'm being accused of being harsh and picking on him. Sometimes I wonde why I even post anywhere but here.

Eesh, always some people going and getting their panties in a bunch over nothing. Sorry you're having to deal with that, Dani. :( This is definitely our safe haven. :thumbsup2

...and the thing is, Steve knows he is not perfect, but does the best he can...which is excellent...so why the heck some people get all worked up about such nonsense, I will just never understand! . Did you know he was banned from the DIS for a while? Not knowing, I posted his name and link, but when it was all xxxx, I told the person how to find it...would you believe, I got some sort of DIS demerits or whatever it's called...it was private and temporary....years ago! Sheesh!!

Oooooh, you're on the 'Naughty List'! :lmao:

I have to admit, the change was prompted by a better discount. We prefer the BC room decor, but love the lobbies and CMs on both sides.:goodvibes We split our stay and added 3 nights at GF, too.

This sounds like a glorious split. Enjoying both MK and Epcot. :goodvibes

Oh I definitely should go! I have dinner booked before hand at via Napoli 3:00 I think

Yes, yes! That's plenty of time to eat and make it over to enjoy the party. :thumbsup2

Missoutandabout, it helps and I love it!!!! This is great information and I'm off to reconsider my ADRs right now - I think we need a bigger meal pre-party. (Amanda, I think I've done more ADR changing for that short trip than I've ever done before!)

Yeah, we had to take time out from the party because we hadn't had enough to eat beforehand... that and not seeing Captain Hook at the Villain's Dance Party are really the only things I'd do differently. It's such a fabulous time any way you slice it though.

Hi Amanda! Can't wait to see your MNSSHP photos - great costume idea! Did you find a Wendy costume yet? We're dressing up, too. At first, it was just the kids dressing up, then my mom said we simply MUST pick a theme and dress up accordingly. (My parents were at F&W last year and saw families in costume heading to MNSSHP.) So our oldest is the Mad Hatter, middle son is Tweedle Dee, youngest is Tweedle Dum and I'm Alice. My husband is undecided - he's rejected our Cheshire Cat idea and now we're lobbying for some version of the White Rabbit!

I adore this idea! Please post pics if you can! :lovestruc

I LOVE y'alls costume theme! I think the White Rabbit is a great option for your DH. Hopefully, he'll go along with it for y'all!

I could not find a Wendy costume. Well, I lie....I could but there were problems with the 2 I found. The first one I found on a costume website was for "sexy" Wendy. UH.....no. Then, I did find a real Wendy costume on Etsy. They wanted $185!! I think not! Thankfully, my best friend is wonderful & she sews a lot so she is making my Wendy dress for me. She found a pattern that had the basic silhouette of the dress that she was able to use as a basis. She's still working on it & I can't wait to see it all finished!

Adore this too! I hear ya about Etsy. Some very cute things but some can have outrageous price tags.

Your costume is a great idea! I want to be princess Leia for the Halloween party this year, but all the ones I see are ummm ... not appropriate for WDW, or frumpy drape type costumes. What's a girl to do? Hmmmm perhaps I can find someone to make me one too! My mom sews.....

I vote for Leia. The white dress... maybe a home-sewn with not as high a slit?

Hi Amanda! :goodvibes we both arrive and depart the same day our plan for Sunday is to rent a cabana at the POLY, chill and head over for 4, hit CHH for dinner, then enjoy the party :) sounds sweet what you are dressing up as! I'm not into dressing up, but my BFF wants to, so she may do it. Maybe I can find a cool Halloween tee shirt in the stores before the big day :)

They have some really cute shirts in the shops at Halloween. The past two years I've *almost* bought one but have held back. Each year they've had at least a couple of quite attractive shirts to choose from. :goodvibes

-----------------

All this talk of parties and dressing up! Getting me excited. Nothing fancy, but we went as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last year and the kiddo went as Jessie. Ours were quite simple, just costume t-shirts and regular shorts so we could stand the heat. Hers was an Etsy creation in all cotton. This year, I'm going as a Gryffindor student and hubs is going as Harry Potter -- not a cape for him but a t-shirt and Quidditch goggles. At least he'll have an authentic accent. I gave kiddo the option of Snow White or her Jessie costume because she had mentioned wanting to wear it again... she picked Jessie. Makes my life easier! (Until she changes her mind at the last minute.)

Don't laugh too hard, okay? (That's okay... laugh because I will be):

Sophia and I are off to do some errands this morning - she loves wandering aorund The Christmas Tree Shop so it is a nice hot morning "activity". Then we'll walk over to Target. Maybe we can even squeeze in Babies R Us so she can ride Dumbo.

This sounds like my kinda morning! Did Sophia or you get anything good? :goodvibes

missoutandabout, good job on the shirt with your daughter. I raised two girls (and survived) and I can only say it is going to get worse before it gets better! My advice is to go with your gut, but never let them embarrass themselves

good answer! Sometimes it's a fine line between wanting them to express themselves and truly not wanting them to be embarrassed. But it's always good for them to learn to be comfortable in their own skin (or in this case a chewy shirt!)

Miss: I go through the same thing with the clothes. If it is really something I feel strongly that they shouldn't wear to school, I will tell them "that is a home shirt, not a school shirt". Know it sounds simple. But for some reason it seems to work over here. :confused3. I think we remember our own school time embarrassments and don't want our DD's to suffer through them.:worried:

Missoutandabout and Jungle cruiser, It's so nice we can share ideas here! JC, What you said about going with your gut, but don’t let them embarrass themselves I think is spot on.
In some ways, I've found it kind of reassuring to know that they are always a work in progress. Just when I think I've got it reasonably well figured out, they are still growing, changing…even into young adulthood.

You did fine IMHO, and she will be A-OK. She may be a hit with boys though watch out...

Thank you so very much for your replies, ladies. I truly and really appreciate it. Sometimes I second-guess my approach with my kiddo or how I've handled something -- so it's especially nice to have you experts to run my thoughts or mothering-unknowns by. Sending love and thanks out to all of you. :thanks::grouphug:

Thanks for the well wishes and kind words everyone. It looks like boss of the freakin century isn't paying me AGAIN. What the french toast? When exactly do I qualify for sick time if this doesn't do it either? I'm really getting fed up.

Dani, do you have any recourse?? This IS sick time. Can you fight it?

Miss: Love the costumes!! Simple yet it's perfect and effective ... and well suited to the somewhat H&H days days of Sept. :thumbsup2

Okay, LOVE your idea for this year!! (we are big HP fans as you may recall). My DD went as Hermoine last Halloween (yes, I was the sucker that bought the robe at Universal last year ... got 10% off, so that's better, right?) She can't decide what to do this year ... be Katniss from the Hunger Games OR Merida from Brave ... she's leading to Brave .... she has the hair but not the right color.

And sorry, missed quoting our "miss" :) about the advice on being yourself ... you gave the answer I have given to my DD ... some of the things she's worn to school, won't be ME, but she is comfortable (and it's not offensive) so it's all good AND about them being their own person and comfortable with who they are.

WHAT!? Is that even legal? Sick leave is for sickness! That boss of yours is crazy and I think he's bordering on employee abuse! Is there someone higher up in HR you can take your concerns too? Because this is flat out Balogna! I feel for you Dani :( focus on getting well!

Yeah, we had to take time out from the party because we hadn't had enough to eat beforehand... that and not seeing Captain Hook at the Villain's Dance Party are really the only things I'd do differently. It's such a fabulous time any way you slice it though.

There is a Villains Dance Party? How did I overlook this? I am really trying to find out when/where we can meet Hook to take our picture with him.

Adore this too! I hear ya about Etsy. Some very cute things but some can have outrageous price tags.

Thanks! I have been able to find some adorable things on Etsy that were very reasonable. But, man, some people are beyond proud of their creations. I told my friend who's making my costume that she should make like 10 while she's making mine & sell them on Etsy for $100. That would be a bargain compared to the other Wendy dresses on there!

I love y'alls costumes! Y'all look so cute! And I love the HP theme for this year! We're big HP fans here.

That's insane. I'm sorry to hear this for you.

Dani I know labor laws can vary from state to state but I was in personnel and did payroll for years but if you have sick time coming to you that poor excuse for a "Boss" can not deny it to you, now depending on your company's policies he may be within his rights to request a Dr's note but to just not pay you is not right!

Poor Dani. :worried:  Who's up for a trip to NY for a RCer 9-to-5-style Boss-Hogtie intervention? This dude seriously needs it. After we're done, we can all head to Crumbs and celebrate with a Baba Booey cupcake. ::yes:: (and some wine.)

Thanks. (Knew you'd like the HP theme! HP robes are good, whether they're 10% less or not. :thumbsup2 Did you nab a wand too?) Oh, both of those ideas are spectacular for your DD! Seriously love Katniss... and I'm sure I'd love Merida, just not seen it yet. Oops. Would you let her put that temporary colour in her hair? I was considering some 'Streekers' (from Ulta) for kiddo's Jessie 2.0 this year.

Yes, same here! Didn't know it existed until after the party. So much for reading the map and schedule. :rolleyes1 I think the proper name for it is the Villains Mix & Mingle. It's on the Castle Stage and afterward, they come down into the crowd and we MISSED -- all three of them -- it last year! Not this year though, fingers crossed. :woohoo:

Seriously, she should! :rotfl: I think I've seen the dresses you're talking about too -- after my endless 'Disney costume' searches. :surfweb:

 Thank you a ton, Janet. Love all of the RCing mommy-wisdom y'all are willing to share.
