"She's Looking at Food Pictures Again!" A February Family Vacation! COMPLETE 8/14

Chapter 21 - "Call Me Sentimental... But I Still Miss The Screeeaming." OHANA!
February 24th, 2011

Mother and I were in the park by ourselves again so we decided to go to Peter Pan's Flight!

We talked to a precious family in front of us about how great Fastpasses are. Their daughter went to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique that day and had on a Cinderella Dress. They were just so adorable!

After our journey into Neverland, we got Winnie the Pooh Fastpasses. We took a rest at Enchanted Grove so I could catch up on my Trip Journal.

We took a few pictures in front of the castle:

Then we went over to Main Street and looked at the shops.

I got a Blue T-Shirt:

dsc0384vd.jpg

A 40th Anniversary Zip-Up Sweatshirt, which is one of my best purchases EVER. It is so beyond comfortable!

dsc0383rc.jpg

dsc0381vv.jpg

A cookbook called Delicious Disney, which is the best cookbook EVER!

dsc0376lp.jpg

It has some of the greatest Disney recipes, such as Tonga Toast from Kona, S'mores from 50's Prime Time Cafe, and Bread Pudding From Ohana. Kristen, my friend Natalie, and I actually made the Bread Pudding Recipe.. here's the link to that update in my first trip report if you would like to see some pictures: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=41423432&postcount=537

And Mother got a blue and green tote bag:

We left the Emporium, and the Main Street Electrical Parade was going on! We were located right where the floats come out onto Main Street, so that was cool! The first float we saw, though, was Pete's Dragon, so the parade was basically over.

dsc0339uq.jpg

During the parade, my friend Vickie (who went with us on the "Port Report" trip) called me and asked me why our friend Jessie and her boyfriend Elliott's facebook pages said "single?"

A little background on our friends Jessie and Elliott.. during my sophomore year we did the musical "Cinderella." Jessie was casted as Cinderella and Elliott was casted as Prince Charming. During junior year, we did the musical "Annie" and Jessie was Grace Farrell and Elliott was Daddy Warbucks. Right after Annie, the two of them began dating, and they were madly in love. We all thought they were going to get married.

Hearing that their facebook pages said "single" made me feel like my whole world was turned upside down. It was so unexpected!!

I texted Jessie and asked her what happened.

So, while all of this was going on, Mother and I took the Monorail over to the Polynesian because we had a reservation at Ohana! It was my first time trying it and I was SUPER excited to eat the food.

Then, we checked into Ohana. While I was waiting, Jessie texted me back. She called me and told me that Elliott randomly decided that he didn't know if his lifestyle was suited for the both of them, and she was DEVASTATED. The poor girl, she had fallen so hard for him and he broke her heart. It "wasn't officially over" but still, it wasn't good.

While we waited, we went in the Polynesian Gift Shop and bought some Mickey Sprinkles:

dsc0385fr.jpg

And in honor of Jessie, (and the lack of Prince Charming in my life) I found a wonderful candy box that summed up the situations:

dsc0345xw.jpg

If you all are wondering what happened with the Jessie and Elliott situation, I can give you the story considering that it is now the end of July and some time has gone by.

Elliott is a year older than us, so he was in college during this time. Him and Jessie made it through the first semester without a problem. However, (we should have seen this coming) he was at the same college as his ex-girlfriend. Bad, Bad, Bad. He actually cheated on Jessie with his ex, and that girl is very manipulative and controlling. Him and Jessie almost got back together in March, but he ended up getting back together with his ex. Very very bad. ): Nobody could believe what he did because Jessie is probably one of the sweetest people EVER. (She got voted "Class Angel" as her senior superlative, for Goodness Sakes!) and Elliott's reputation went from "The Golden Boy" to really really reallyy bad. Now the two of them no longer communicate. It really is just a sad situation.

Anyways, thanks for tuning in on the Soap Opera. Going back to Disney!

Our reservation at Ohana was for 8:10 pm, and that's just about when Dad and Jonathan arrived. We were seated about 5 minutes after they got there.

The hostess did a nice introduction and explained how the dinner is. She told us that everyone there was cousins and Ohana means family.

We were seated and we got the bread. It was AMAZING. It was probably some of the best bread I've ever eaten. It didn't even need butter, it was that good.

dsc0347hj.jpg

The next course was the salad. It had a yummy dressing on it, but it was definitely a different flavor than I would usually get. I liked it, though! It had a sweet kick to it.

dsc0348w.jpg

Dipping Sauces, which I didn't even get to try because I was too excited:

dsc0349f.jpg

Then next were the pot stickers and the wings. SO GOOD.

dsc0350v.jpg

Then came the meats. YUM! My favorite was the steak, then the chicken, the shrimp, then the pork. I have heard some mixed reviews about the steak, but the night we were there, the steak was DIVINE. Probably some of the best steak I've ever eaten.

dsc0352fz.jpg

dsc0353ym.jpg

The noodles came out too. DELICIOUS! They also had a sweet kick to them.

dsc0351c.jpg

Lastly, the Banana Bread Pudding finished up our meal. It was like Heaven on Earth on a plate. It was fantastic. Even Jonathan loved it, and he is not a big dessert person.

dsc0355a.jpg

Throughout the whole meal, I kept saying "call me sentimental, but I still miss the screeeaming!!" in my Roz voice. It never failed to get a chuckle out of at least one person. We just thought it was so funny! I almost titled the trip report that.. I should have! It is just such a great line! Oh Roz, you kill me.

We were stuffed and satisfied, and we made our way out of Ohana. It became one of our new top favorites.

Order: Family Style
Rating: 5/5 - I loved everything!

Overall Experience: One of the top favorites of our entire trip! I really, really enjoyed it. The food, service, and atmosphere was great!
Overall Rating: 5/5
1st Visit?: Yes, for dinner.
Revisit?: ABSOLUTELY!
Complaints: None! (:

We took the monorail back to Magic Kingdom. When we got there, I was still looking at the camera. Mom was like "She's Looking at Food Pictures AGAIN!!" Hence the title of this trip report. I do that a lot.

I wanted to go back to the Magic Kingdom because it was open for another hour or two, but no one would go with me. ):

So we headed over to the busses, and the Cast Member was directing people in their intended directions. The CM asked "Does everyone know where they're going?"

Dad's Response?

"Never have, Never will."

:rotfl2:

And that, my friends, is why he was "That Guy" today. So funnyyy.

The Old Key West bus came pretty quickly, so we got on, rode it back, got off at Peninsular, and walked home.

Love all your purchases and am glad you guys have used the cookbook! :cool1:
That zip up sweatshirt sure looks comfy.

I'm really sorry to read that about your friends and how sad to find out whilst at Disney. However, it seems like Jessie is better off without Elliot. I love the chocolate you bought her.

O'hana looks amazing! :lovestruc I am trying to get an ADR for our trip but not having much luck. Will keep trying...

:rotfl2: at your dad's response to the CMs question!

The sweatshirt you bought is adorable! And comfy you say??? I think I need one! :lmao:

We will be at WDW on the 40th anniversary which just so happens to be my daughter's birthday as well! I'm super excited about all of the 40th merchandise! :thumbsup2

Poor Jessie... heartbreaks are never fun, but you girls are fabulous friends, and she will find her prince charming one day!

Your dinner at Ohana looks amazing, and your dad is so funny! :rotfl:

I've been reading along but I haven't posted in awhile :sad2: All of your updates are wonderful and what happened with Jessie is just awful, she was so sweet when I met her before your prom. Hopefully we will be able to get together before the summer is over and you leave for COLLEGE!!!

Always great to start a chapter with Peter Pan's Flight (: OMG, those Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique girls are everywhere, but that's so sweet you got to talk to her and her family. Something to do in line :thumbsup2

Love the pictures you took in front of the castle, very cool. And you have some pretty epic Disney shirts! (: And I love all those new shirts you got, as well as the cookbook. Ever since I read about your adventures with those books, I really want to buy it now and try to make my favorite Disney dishes :goodvibes Bringing a little bit of Disney home.

Awww... I'm sorry for your friend. Isn't just that how it always works? I'm sure that sounds weird coming from me, but... well I have two sisters and a lot of my friends are girls, so I've heard of stuff happening like that before. Those two sounded so perfect for each other, but it's always the ex-girlfriend or other friend that ruins things, but he should know better. I hope your friend's alright now, that's not something you ever want to go through, especially if she's as nice as you say she is. :sad2:

Moving on... sounded like you had a nice experience at 'Ohana. That's funny the waiters and waitresses are called cousins like at 50's. I always thought it was just at 50's, but that's cute. And I think that Banana Bread Pudding is seriously calling me, too! And that steak too! 'Ohana here I come! :teeth: LOL @ your Roz comments, I can just imagine it, well Roz saying it, but that with you... must've been hilarious.

Sounded like the day ended off great, even with the drama! I think you probably could take the food pictures comment as "You know you're a DISer when..." Hahahaha

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

We were at Disney while my friend was at the end of a relationship (she knew it was going to end, it was really just a matter of when.) So we were going through the EE gift shop and she found a kids shirt that said "my next boyfriend will be a Yeti." We loved it.

I'm crying right now.

How pathetic/Disney-obsessed am I?

It's just...'Ohana! My beautiful, wonderful, delicious 'Ohana! We didn't eat there on this trip because all hell broke loose and we were all sad, but now, OMG, I MISS IT SO MUCH! I just want to bathe in a giant vat of the salad dressing while stuffing myself with pot stickers and grilled meats and attempting to sing "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" with food in my mouth.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

Your O'hana meal looks delicious!!!!!! I really want to go there sometime but i love the luau so much i don't think i could give that up! Funny story about the food pictures :) non-disers just don't understand why food pictures are so great. your dad's response to the bus driver is pretty funny 2!

I have only had Ohanas for breakfast. I will definatly go for dinner next time. Heard too many good reviews. Love your updates keep them coming.

I had Ohana for breakfast once (many years ago) and Ohana for dinner on this trip... Dinner is just SO fantastic, I can't believe I didn't try it sooner! I hope you try it soon, too! I will! Thanks for reading!

Thank you! I love that cookbook! And oh, that sweatshirt is one of my all time favorites!! I'm definitely bringing it to college with me!
Ugh that was just terrible :( Poor Jessie. She really is better off without him!
I really hope you get an ADR at Ohana.. it's the BEST! If not, you'll just have to go back ;)
And hahaha I love my dad :lmao:

That's awesome that you'll be there! I have gotten 2 40th Anniversary sweatshirts, a laptop case, and probably a few more things. The merchandise is great.. it's like vintage. Very cute!
Ugh heartbreaks are terrible :( And I hope she does! And soon! She deserves it!

Aww I'm glad you're here! Thank you! And I know, poor girl! She is such a sweetheart. We definitely should! You, me, and Alicia should do something soon!

Always great to start a chapter with Peter Pan's Flight (: OMG, those Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique girls are everywhere, but that's so sweet you got to talk to her and her family. Something to do in line :thumbsup2

Ahh yes! Two classic Disney things! :)
Thank you! And yes, you should definitely get that cookbook! You would love it! It's nice to make that stuff at home, because it brings that little bit of magic you need to get you through to the next trip!
Ugh Poor Jessie. I feel like my whole little group of friends had a lot of boy troubles this year... Jessie's situation was the worst though :sad2: It really is unfortunate. But hopefully she'll find someone new soon! She deserves to!
Ahhh Ohana. My fave. Yes, both restaurants are family oriented so we're "cousins" there as well as 50's! MMM bread pudding
And hahaha oh Roz. I love her.
And yeah, I definitely am pretty sure I made the "you know your'e a diser when..." comment. I'm just obsessed with food pictures. That's all.

We were at Disney while my friend was at the end of a relationship (she knew it was going to end, it was really just a matter of when.) So we were going through the EE gift shop and she found a kids shirt that said "my next boyfriend will be a Yeti." We loved it.

Aww poor girl! ): But HAHAHA that is an awesome shirt!! It reminds me of that one shirt that said "I like my boyfriend, but I ♥ Mickey." I always laughed at that one haha

I'm crying right now.

Siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.

You are not pathedic. YOU ARE AWESOME. :thumbsup2
I was really sad to hear when you said you missed Ohana. I know that's your favorite. Ugh I'm scared to get to that part of your TR... I'm going to cry!
You need to go back and just go to Ohana and enjoy yourself.
and HAHAHA that is a wonderful dream you have there. I hope it comes true.

Your O'hana meal looks delicious!!!!!! I really want to go there sometime but i love the luau so much i don't think i could give that up! Funny story about the food pictures :) non-disers just don't understand why food pictures are so great. your dad's response to the bus driver is pretty funny 2!

Go to both!! That would be a pretty awesome trip! Haha and no, nondisers don't understand. But looking back at my trips before I started taking food pictures, I feel like a big chunk of my memories were missing! I'm glad I started taking them! And hahaha oh Dad :rotfl: He's a funny one.

Oh no, your poor friend. That's horrible. It doesn't seem like much now, but it was probably better in the long run then if he treated her that way.

I totally have that cookbook and have used it several times. I've made the strawberry soup, the marscapone french toast, and the loaded baked potato soup. It's all so good. :thumbsup2

I LOVE that sweatshirt you got (actually, all of your shopping purchases look great), I hope those are still around by December, I want one!

That must have been great to have your Dad as "That Guy" at The Laugh Factory!

Ohana's is amazing! I love the food there so much.

I have really enjoyed reading your trip reports. My daughter and I are the Disneyholics in our family. She took a year off after she finished her undergrad degree to do the Disney College Program. Now she is finishing up law school but she still goes back 3 teams a year to keep her seasonal status up. We will be going over Christmas. I saw you were also going to be there over the Christmas Holidays. I love that time of year at Disney. We are going
Dec 16-Dec 26. She will be there through New Year's Day. It is so nice to read your trip report and know there are other people who are as Disney obsessed as we are.

Ugh I know :( Yeah, he really showed his true colors. Better that it happened earlier than later, I suppose. It's still such a shame.
And isn't it FANTASTIC?? We made the french toast as well. It's wonderful!! :goodvibes

Thank you! That's sort of what I want to do! I want to do the CP and then be a seasonal cast member! I can't think of a better job :goodvibes
And aww yay I'm glad to hear you love Disney at Christmas! This is our first time really being there ON christmas... I went once when I was 10 in the middle of december, but I don't remember it a lot. It's going to be a fun experience :wizard:
And hahaha oh my goodness, I'm glad there are others out there who are as obsessed as I am as well! :yay: That's why i LOVE disboards! :thumbsup2

Awww poor Jessie!!!
Your dad is too funny!!!
That food looked SOOOOO good!!! I am hungry right now and want ALL of it!!!

That is a great cookbook!! I wish I had seen it when we were there, I would have purchased it!

Can't wait to read more :thumbsup2

Your updates (doing backreading from what I missed on vacation)... make me excited for Philharmagic (or was that the mom/ daughter trip? :rotfl:), Ohana (I really only go for the dessert... shhh!), Caseys, and Laugh Floor. I love that your dad was "That Guy". I am curious if Jonathan loves Disney as much as you do since you said he isn't much of a ride guy...

I know, poor girl :( I felt so bad!
Mmmm me TOO! Actually I'm not even hungry. But I could eat it!!
Oh you will have to get it next time! It's fantastic!

Hahaha I don't even know :rotfl: But YAY FOR PHILHARMAGIC! I love that show!! (I actually think it is this trip)
Ohana.... mmmm. I am excited to go back. It's going to be my last dinner of 2011!! :thumbsup2 Going out with a bang!
Yay Casey's and Yay laugh floor!! So great.
My Dad had so much fun with being "That Guy." That was a great experience.
And Jonathan likes Disney.... but definitely not as much as I do. He's such a chill kid... he enjoys it while he's there (even though his favorite part is "going back to the room") and he just patiently waits until the next trip. But I think he has fun :yay:

Great purchases! I especially love the Mickey sprinkles! O'hana looks delicious, too!

Sorry to hear about your friend and her boy problems! Breakups are terrible, but she sounds wonderful and will end up with an even better prince!

Chapter 22 - "I Could Just Sop You Up Like A Biscuit!"
February 25th, 2011

This morning we didn't have much of a plan, but we decided on going to Hollywood Studios!

We got on the bus by 9 o'clock, so we were in decent shape for Toy Story Mania! Hooray!

Once we entered the park, Jonathan and I ran to Toy Story Mania. By the time we got there, the Fastpasses were already listed for 1:30 pm! And once we had them in our hands, the time was for 1:45 pm!! Wow.

We met back up with Mom and Dad. Mom and I decided to go on Tower of Terror... hehe YAY!

I love that ride! I just felt like I was flying.. it was so fun!

Then we decided to all go to the Magic of Disney Animation.

dsc0392n.jpg

We watched the show with Mushu, which is always fun.

Our favorite line?

"I could just sop you up like a biscut!"

:rotfl2:

Oh Mushu.. he's full of so many great one-liners.

After the movie, we went to the Animation Academy.

I thought this poster was super cool! I took this picture for Kristen's brother, Michael. He is an AMAZING artist and can draw Disney characters super well!

dsc0386rr.jpg

We had the same lady today that we had in January! She is fantastic!!

Our class decided to draw Grumpy!

dsc0389i.jpg

dsc0390cd.jpg

My Dad was perfectly dressed for the occasion!

dsc0391d.jpg

We passed by Voyage of the Little Mermaid afterwords, but we didn't watch it. I really miss that show... I NEED to see it when I go next time!

dsc0393v.jpg

dsc0394us.jpg

We wandered the Streets of America...

dsc0397c.jpg

And ended up at Pizza Planet next to grab some lunch. It was yummy! I am obsessed with Disney Pizza... I just think it's so good!

dsc0399uh.jpg

I forgot that the Pizzas come with Caesar Salads here, too! Yay! And I got a Mickey Rice Krispie. YUM!!!!

dsc0400s.jpg

We weren't exactly sure what to do after, so Jonathan and Dad played in the Arcade at Pizza Planet. Mom and I went to look at the shops.

We also took a few pictures:

dsc0405vt.jpg

dsc0406x.jpg

dsc0403n.jpg

We all met up at the12:45 pm showing of Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. We sat all the way to the right in the front row!

dsc0417x.jpg

I liked the guy who was in "extra" but was actually a stunt man. He was very funny!

dsc0412n.jpg

"Indiana Jones... he's cute!"
(Catch the Stacy Reference? ;) He really was!)

dsc0414n.jpg

After that show, we went BACK to the Magic of Disney Animation to waste some time before our Toy Story Mania Fastpasses!

This time we drew Tigger!

dsc0420j.jpg

The animator this time had WAYY too long of a speech at the beginning, so he ended up rushing through the drawing! I got pretty annoyed because I fell behind and my Tigger was all messed up. Ugh.

dsc0419vh.jpg

He let us vote on who we wanted to draw, though, so that was cool. I love when the animators do that!

After our class, it was time for Toy Story Mania! My Dad's shoulder was hurting him, though, so him and Mom didn't ride. But that meant that Jonathan and I could go on twice!

dsc0395j.jpg

The 2nd time I got the highest score in the car!! I got around 142,000! Woohoo!

dsc0396ox.jpg

Then we headed for the Park Exit.

Dad and Jonathan left the park.

However, after much deliberation, I finally decided to purchase my DISNEY DOONEY AND BOURKE BAG!!!!!

dsc0421p.jpg

It was an early birthday present and I was SO excited! I wanted to get it so I would be able to use it at school before the year was over.

After we bought it (YAY!) we went to the bus stop and JUST missed the bus. Those busses hated me on that trip... I was not happy.

We sat in the hot sun for a bit, and finally another bus showed up. We were on our way back to Old Key West!

Continued in Next Post

I have that bag, too! Don't you love it? I love seeing the Castle and Mickey balloons and Tinkerbell and teacups and the Cheshire Cat and everything else on my bag.

Ohana looks so good. I can't wait to go back there. I thought Casey's seemed really slow the last time we were there, too, although I didn't consider that it might be because of the specialty hot dogs.

I think your Tigger turned out pretty good, even if it was rushed. :thumbsup2
