In just a few short days me and my 5 best female friends will be traveling to Disney World and staying at the Sheraton Vistana. Because we are only 19 years old we cant rent a car. Although we have a car service picking us up two and from teh airport, im concerned about teh quality of transporation offered by the resort to and from the parks. Can any one who has stayed there let me know how it works, how often the buses run, if buses run to pleasure island late at night (2am), etc. Thanks!

From what I recall (this was 5 years ago that we looked into it) the busses ran a few times in the morning and a few times in the evening. It wasn't too great at that time anyway. You might be better off considering taxi service for late night transportation. With the combination of the two and some flexibility you should be fine.

And it seems to me there was a fee.

I have to ask--without a car, why did you decide to stay offsite?

I forgot to say--Welcome to the DIS! You have a few days so ask all the questions you can think of! The folks around here are better than any guidebook out there.

I don't remember what the timing was like with the shuttle busses, but I do remember that there was a fee, and it was NOT nominal either. I remember we were shocked at how much they were charging. However, the Vistana is a great resort.

Last I checked with RCI timeshares the rate for the shuttle was 7.00 pp.....???I'm staying at the Vistana in Sept..

Enjoy

I'm booked for Oct. and on their main website it said that shuttle service to WDW was "complimentary" and there were fees for other places ie: Sea World.
$7.00 that burns me:headache:

Please let me know what you all think of the resort though.

Hi, and welcome to the DIS PSU Sally!

I assume you're staying at Vistana Resort and not the Villages. Give them a call an ask them what they're shuttle price and times are.

As for PI, I would suggest a taxicab for that time of night.

Enjoy!

MaMudduck-
The Resort is great. There are 7pools, a bunch of hot tubs, and 3 restaraunts plus a Pizza Hut Express on property. All of the pools are great, or at least all of the ones we've seen are. The landscaping at the Vistana is amazing. We finally got the chance to really walk around the resort on our last trip there. I think I took almost a full roll of film on that walk. There are ponds and water falls and fountains everywhere. The fountains that are in the middle of the ponds get turned off at night, and come back on around 8 am. We expect that's so that people can sleep at night without the constant sounds of falling water. The service at the Vistana is great; if you have a problem they really go out of their way to take care of it. Everything is very clean. Even the older units have been fairly well kept.

MaMuddock--this brings up an important point--there could be a difference in the shuttle service depending on if you are staying on a nightly basis like a hotel/resort or if you are staying as a timeshare exchange. We have done both and one of the differences that surprised us was that when we stayed there for three nights we had daily maid service as opposed to the midweek one when we stayed as a timeshare exchange for the week. And I know that at some timeshares if you are exchanging things like the crib and highchair are free whereas if you are staying nightly there is a charge. Could be the shuttle service fee is the dependent on the type of stay, too.

This one warrants a call, I would say.
