Went to see it last night... loved it! I had no preconceived notions of what a Sherlock Holmes movie should be, so I'm curious to see what others thought. I thought Robert Downey Jr did a really good job.

I read an article about it, and a lot of what they said was that they tried to stay true to the literature as opposed to other movies/TV/etc. Thought that was interesting.

Anyway... did you see it? What did you think?

DH and I tried to see it yesterday but the shows were all sold out. I'm glad to hear it was good. I love RDJ.

I WANT TO SEE IT SO BAD!! Hopefully we'll get to go soon!

Glad to hear the good reviews!

DH and I are going to see it tommorow and I can't wait. I love all of Guy Ritchies films. I never put much stock in movie reviews, I like to make up my own mind.

We saw it last night and thought it was AMAZING!!! :thumbsup2

We saw it last night too and thought it was great! Great chemistry between RDJ and Jude Law.

I loved it because I love things set in the past such as that. The clothes, setting, accents, etc.. :lovestruc

An excellent movie and I was fully expecting to like it around 4-5 out of 10....IMHO it was a 10+. So glad I gave it a try!!

Watched the "making of" on HBO or whatever today - geez, just that 1/2 hour tired me out! :thumbsup2

I, too, have no preconceptions of Sherlock Holmes films, so I'm looking forward to this version.

Heck I didn't even know about it till yesterday when I saw a tv commercial. Looks good!:)

Saw "Sherlock Holmes" yesterday.....it was absolutely fantastic!!!!! Robert Downey was perfection.

Haven't seen it yet, but most reviews I've seen have said that the movie is nothing at all like any of the real SH adventures and is in many ways very out of character compared to the books. For people unfamiliar with the books that doesn't matter at all, but many reviews I've seen from people who say they are SH fans who have read the books did not generally approve of a lot of things in the movie - not that all of them hated it, just that they found much of it very out of character.

Ok - you all just let me down :rolleyes1

Well, sort-of. Convinced this would be the greatest, I just got my 15 year old and hubby to go see this tonight- a big movie night for us that rarely happens. Teenager hated it, hubby and I just thought it was pretty darn s-l-o-w and l-o-n-g but had some good moments.

Not a great movie in our book. Just had to put that out there. Sorry.

Saw it today and I really liked it! My mom said it was one of her favorites, she really likes RDJ.

Wow...slow and long??? It seemed like non stop action to me!!! :confused3 But that's fine, everyone doesn't have to like the same thing and there isn't a movie in the world that everyone likes, but our family loved it!! :thumbsup2

We saw it Christmas day and really enjoyed it! It's off from the books, but the spirit is there. They didn't change things to the point of being unrecognizable, which I was worried about. (Hello, Mission Impossible! It's about precision team work, not about Tom Cruise saving the world!!)

Also, the pretty men weren't hard on the eyes, either. :rolleyes1

All the folks I know who are familiar with the literature are cheerfully planning to see it. We've decided it's the "AU" Sherlock Holmes AKA "Sherlock Holmes: Reboot" AKA "Sherlock Holmes: Steampunk Edition"

None of us expect authenticity. If we want pretty close (but not perfect) adaptations, we'll pull out the Jeremy Brett series.

We liked it. The sets are amazing -- really good old Britain feel. It felt a little odd to me that it's an action movie -- I think of Sherlock Holmes as being more of an intellectual story. I have no idea if that's even true. This is Sherlock Holmes Die Hard.
