Sheraton Vistana..

Hi, we are planning a trip in August. We've stayed at the vistana a few times (my parents own there ) Now that our dates are pretty flexible, I was wondering what day we should use as a check-in. I remember reading here before that you are likely to be in certain areas, depending on what day you check in (Fri, Sat, Sun) We would prefer a newer section (Cascade, Lakes...) so whatever can increase our chance.......
We have stayed in Cascades, Springs, and Fountain areas before-all were very nice and close to pools, but the Cascades was, by far, the nicest.

Lakes and Fountains have Fri-Sat-Sun Check in.
Courts are only Saturday---Spas only Friday-----Falls only Sunday
Cascades-Springs-Palms have Fri-Sat-Sun

Thought of something else. If you book a two bedroom that sleeps 8. ie King in master, 2-queen or double in 2nd, plus pull out queen in living room. You will get Lakes, Fountains or Cascades as I believe the rest of areas are only sleep 6 ie. Queen in master, 2-twin in 2nd plus pull out. Others or resort might be able to confirm but I am 90% certain of this.

Only the Falls and Courts have the "sleep 6" which means there are two twins in the second bedroom.
All other sections (even the Springs, Palms and Spas) have two doubles in the second bedroom and are "sleep 8". They have a king in the master.

You mentioned your parents own at Vistana. Are you using their week or exchanging a timeshare week of your own ?

Also, a PS. By August, the Lakes major rehab should be complete. From the photos I've seen, they look like they will be even nicer than the newer Cascades. Maybe you could request a remodeled Lakes villa.
Also, the Fountains ONE section should be complete with their major rehab/remodel by late August.
Fountains II and Springs won't be done until early to mid 2009. By major rehab, they are doing practically everything new. All new furniture, granite counter tops, new flat screen TV's etc.

We are not using their original week (that's in Nov) so they will be exchanging it for us. They do always request a 2 bdr that sleeps 8, because that's the type they bought into. So far, their requests have always been met without incident. So, do we only make a 'section' request when we do the Diamond Lane, or should I have her do it when the reservation is made?

You can have her do it when the reservation is made as well. Since Vistana gives lowest priority to exchangers for requests, any little bit helps.
I'll be there in mid August too.......good luck with getting a newer section. I hope it works out for you all. Like I said, Lakes and most of Fountains I should be totally rehabbed by that time frame. I own in Fountains I/II and usually request II, but will request a rehabbed I villa if available.
