Hi

Have you ever stayed at either of these? I know the resort is bigger, with more pools etc....but which do you like better and why? Thanks

I have stayed at both the Vistana Resort and the Vistana Villages and if I had to choose, I would choose the Villages. The resort units are all the same so you don't have to worry about getting an older unit like at the Resort. Don't get me wrong, both places are wonderful. They have great pools and are very close to Disney. We were lucky and during both of our stays at the V Resort we were placed in a Cascades newer unit. I would stay at either place again in a heartbeat. Both places were very clean and the staff was very pleasant. The V Resort has alot of pools though and my older boys had a great time checking them out. They also hit the weight room and the basketball courts at both places and had a great time.

I've only stayed at the Vistana Villages, but I've read tons of reviews of the Vistana Resort. With the Vistana Villages, the whole resort is fairly new and all units are top-notch. As 3mickeymom said, with the Vistana Resort some sections are new, and some are much older and less nice.

If you can make sure to get a new unit at the Vistana Resort, you might enjoy the larger number of pools and facilities there. Many people here have tips on getting a new unit at the Vistana Resort -- do a search on this board for "Vistana", and probably lots of tips will come up.

I have stayed at both resorts. They were both nice but I prefer the Villages. There are no old sections at the Villages so you will be sure to get a great room. Check in was torture at the V Resort. We signed up for diamond lanne express check in but we still waited an hour.At the V Villages we were in our room in 10 minutes. The resort had many pools and was a really large busy place. I liked the V villages because it was quite and really laid back. The V Villages were a few miles from Seaworld where the V Resort is really close to Downtown Disney. I would stay at either again but the stress of possibly getting an old unit at the V Resort was annoying. I would choose the Villlages.

okay going through II - not RCI - so I will get a new unit.

is the recommendation still for the Village?

both are showing up.

bringing 2 teens - boy and girl - 19 & 16 years old.

won't the resort have more people their age?

I went thru II and stayed in the lakes section.:thumbsup2 The V Resort might be better for teens. There are more people around to hang out with. if I was 16 I would pick V resort. If traveling with small kids or just adults I would choose V Villages.

I have heard that Interval members seem to get the newer units. It doesn't mean that you won't get a new one. I am a new Interval user so this is all pretty new to me. I got the exact unit that was written on my paperwork. People say that is unusual.
