We're all set for our next WDW trip end of April. We have a great deal at Sheraton Vistana Villages and I was looking forward to it until I read some disturbing recent reviews on Trip Advisor. The reviews say that the units are not clean and housekeeping does a lousey job. The complaints include dirty, sticky floors, dirt around toilet base, and cobwebs.

Has anyone been to this property recently and what was their impression? I've only read good things about this property until recent reviews. I sometimes feel Trip Advisor is not totally on the upside--I sometimes feel bad reviews are actually "plants" from the competition.

Well, has anyone had a recent (within last month) stay at this property and were the units dirty? Would like to know!

I have never been there, going the end of April too. I have never heard of any bad reviews. I always hear good reviews. Hmmm? :Pinkbounc Have fun.

I can't speak for Vistana because I have never stayed there, but Starwood as a company (Sheraton's parent company) is usually VERY good as far as maintenece and cleaning goes...and in my experiences, if I'd had a problem they were generous in trying to make it up to me.

...maybe someone else can help you more...just my experience with the company :)

We have stayed there and the place is gorgeous. Too many people believe what they read on trip advisor. Many times we have stayed at places where trip advisor has said it was very poor, and none of the information on there has been true. I think some people have nothing better to do than pick apart places on the internet that they have probably never even been too.

The Villages are beautiful and they are also building more units. You will have a great time . The location is great. IF you want REAL reviews go to the RCI community board and search it there. You will not be disappointed.

vistana villages is great, we had a minor maintenance issue and they werewuick to respond, I think tripadvisor and thte like attracts the %1 who will have bad luck and want a place to vent and the %1 who will never be satisfied.

Good to hear positive reviews. There are several negative reviews on Trip Advisor right now, mostly concerned with housekeeping. In looking at the dates of travel, it appears they were all around spring break. Perhaps there were some housekeeping and maintenance issues then, just due to the heavy volumes of people in the area. Also, usually such hotels don't have a full-time cleaning staff on duty 24/7. They work in crews that go from hotel to hotel--add heavy guest volume might make for short staffed housekeeping.

That's if you choose to believe everything you read on Trip Advisor. I've learned to take it with a grain of salt. There's always they few who can't be pleased (or perhaps did indeed have a bad experience) but that doesn't make it a lousey property. Also, I've often wondered if some negative reviews on TA were actually "plants" from the competition. Especially the ones that say "..........we checked out and found a much better deal at such and such down the road." :scratchin

We can't beat the deal--$149 total for 4 nights, 2 bdr, 2 bath. :) There's an extra charge of about $15 per day for tax, payable upon checkout. The catch is we have to sit through a timeshare deal, but its just too good a deal to pass up. Plus, you get $100 cash upon completion of the ts deal, so your total costs come to about $90! For that price, I'd mop the floor myself! Oh, housekeeping isn't included in the price, its an extra $30 per day, but I do expect it to be clean upon check in. We'll probably get housekeeping once halfway through to freshen up the place, otherwise,it really isn't necessary, im my opinion. Just make your own beds, do some straightening up and that's all you really need. Actually, housekeeping bugs me--they're always knocking on the door at the most inconvenient times. Last Disney trip we stayed at WL, had then knocking on my door at 8 am, despite the DND sign on the door! When I dragged myself out of bed and asked them politely to come back in about an hour, they stomped off and one said to the other (obviously loud enough for my benefit) "What does she think? We have all day?" To which I shouted down the hall "For $300 a day I'll get up when I damned well please!" Honestly, you don't need a screaming match outside your door every morning! And, yes, I did complain to management, who's sole response was to say that I could request no housekeeping the next day, if I was "disturbed" by housekeeping. Well, I let it go, but really--there should be some choice between being woke out of a sound sleep by a rude housekeeping crew (who ignored the DND sign) or no housekeeping at all. Or, well, ..........better luck next time.

We're counting the days--three more weeks!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'd love to try Vistana someday, if I can get a great deal like you did! My take on the tripadvisor reports is that a lot of people who only stay onsite or in regular hotels are miffed that they have to pick up after themselves. It seems like they don't understand that they are not renting hotel rooms; these are more like apartments and don't include daily housekeeping.

Hi!

I'm always willing to share a deal. I don't really know how I got this Vistana Village deal, I think they called me, or perhaps I received a letter or card, can't remember now, maybe because I'm a Starwoods member? Well, anyways, here's their phone # I called last night to firm up the reservations --- 909-388-9000. That's for existing reservations, but you might try asking if they're offering anything like what I have. Can't hurt to ask!

Honestly, really, I actually prefer maid service every other or 3rd day, even if its included with the price (except for towels, soap, etc). Oftentimes I just request no maid service that day and pick up towels, etc., at the front desk. Why do I decline such services even if paid for? Because they're a pain in the hinny! It seems they're always knocking on that door at an inconvenient time., like my experience at WL where they decided I should get my bottom out of bed when it was convenient for them to clean! :furious: Lets face it, we don't do a complete vacumn, dust, scrub, etc EVERY day at home.............well, we don't, don't we? :confused3 or am I the only one who lives in dirt for more than 24 hours at a time? I'm not that big a slob I need someone chasing my every last move with a dust mop! It just isn't necessary, IMO. Also, I really don't like someone "messing" with my stuff that much!
