Any reviews on this property? I'm a newbie and having a rough time deciding on a reasonably priced location... This seems like a pretty nice place and I think my family would be happy with what it offers. So, thoughts?

Thanks!
Heather

All i can say is if Pete and the rest of the Podcast gang like it,you will love it.

We stayed there when it was new, about 8 years ago. I thought it was very nice. The rooms were spacious like an apartment and the grounds were nicely manicured. I don't know how they have maintained the property since then, but it sounds like it is still nice. have fun!

The resort is undergoing renovations. We stayed in the Cascades section in October and it was not renovated at that time...but, it was clean and plenty of security. Sheraton Vistana just opened some on-site fast food like Pizza Hut Express.

We stayed about 3 years ago and I would go back if we did not own our home near by.

We used 3 of the pools, 2 spas, basket ball courts, mini golf, family bike thing and the grounds were very nice.

I did not like we did not have an elevator in the area we were in. Sorry do not remember which area it was. Nice size rooms and clean.

Thanks to everyone for the responses! You have all given me some vital information and what to be sure to ask about when booking. Based on the nightly rate, we will most likely go with this property. We like that this property is almost 1200 sq ft, with two baths and free shuttle to MK. Not to mention, reasonably priced!

Generally, this is a good resort. I plan to stay there in mid-January in the Cascades section, which is one of the newer sections. Fountains I, Fountains II, and I think maybe the Lakes are also new sections.

There are some older sections of this resort, though, which are not as nice. I seem to recall that the older sections are the Springs, Courts, and maybe the Spas, but I'm not sure. If you do some searching here, you should come across posts that not only tell you which are the new sections, but also which unit sizes and which check-in dates may be in the older sections. For example, I believe that all 1-bedrooms are in the newer sections, as are all or most 2-bedrooms that sleep 8 privately. 2-bedroom units that sleep only 6 and have Saturday check-ins may be in the oldest section -- I think.

You did not stay at the Vistana Resort when it was new if you were there 8 years ago. Sounds to me like you were at Vistana Villages. The VR and VV are 2 completely different properties.

We just came back and love it...again. Great room, great pool and the new eating area was helpful. The little market was remodeled. We go there every trip and every location/unit has been great. Look at my signature for where we've been. Have fun!

I do see that you like it. Would you mind telling me approx. how much was the nightly rate ? I called AAA today and got $ 170 a night for a 2BR villa in May 2009. Does this sound like a good deal to you ?? Thanks in advance.

My sister is looking into going there in May 2009 and searching for a good rate on it right now. Though I've told it is nice but they can not guranteed you a newer section or older section upon booking it.

That is great that you were so happy with it! I am happy to hear that and I still think this is the best deal for the money. But can you tell me why they cannot guarantee a new/old section when you book? Can you call at a later date to request that or is it just first come, first serve? Is the old section really all that bad? Is the section that you stayed in-Fountains II-a newer section?

Thanks!

We stayed there about 3 years ago. We traded our timeshare week for it, and we loved it! We did the diamond lane check in (on their website) a couple of weeks before we left and requested either cascades or lakes. We ended up in the lakes section, and it was very modern and updated. There were a ton of things to do, and we didn't even come close to utilizing a quarter of them. I found everyone to be friendly. We didn't get pestered for ownership either. I also though the drive was pretty short to WDW. Enjoy your stay there.
