I went through a lot of this thread but not all so sorry if I am asking something that has already been answered! I am looking at staying here but want to check in on a Sunday. The few sites I have found where owners are renting out their units don't yet show a Sunday check-in for my week - they show a Saturday check in for my week and a Sunday check-in for the week prior. Could be that nothing is left for my week for a Sunday check in (the Sunday the week before Easter - checking in 1 April and checking out 8 April).
Yes, it probably means that no one has deposited the exact week you want, but those are only the situations where someone has booked the week in advance. Many of the owners at Vistana have floating weeks, and will happily reserve a week for the dates you want if you will rent it.
I did find another site resortime that let me just put in my rates. I got a REALLY great rate for the exact nights I wanted....so good I am wondering if this is some kind of scam?? Has anyone used them before?? They have an A+ BBB rating, but something seems to good to be true!
I did a quick search on tugbbs for them, and there doesn't appear to be anything negative about them. Seems that Hilton Grand Vacation Club is actually teaming up with them to offer their members additional points exchange opportunities. Probably legitimate, but if you spidey sense kicks in; stay wary!
Anyway, what was available was a 2 bedroom that only sleeps 6 instead of 8.Does this give any indication of what building this is in and am I going to be happy with this building?
Sleep 6 (max) 2BR units are in Courts Lower Units (Sat checkin) or Falls (Sun checkin). So it is likely a Falls unit.
Finally, has anyone who has stayed here and booked a nightly rate ever found a better rate and called Sheraton under their "price match" to have the rate matched?
Can't help with this one, we are owners.
Finally, if I choose to go with an owner who is simply renting out their week, could that owner get additional days added on to the front (or back) of their week? Just not sure how the timeshare rental process differs from the nightly rental on the Sheraton site!
Thanks for anyone's help!
Dena
You can ask an owner, but they are most likely to suggest that book those separately with Sheraton.
Note that Sheraton will try to keep both in the same unit if you ask, but it may not be possible, and you may face a unit move. This is especially true if you rent direct from an owner with a deeded week. It is likely in those sections that the owner of the time before or after your week wants to use their week too. Owners of deeded weeks have priority to their own units.
If you rent from an owner in one of the floating weeks sections, it is easier for them to extend your stay.
Also as erinch indicates, tug (
http://www.tug2.net/) has a great marketplace to look for units for rent. If you don't see what you want, post a request (very inexpensive membership required). I did this when I needed an extra unit for a family member for our last trip and had several responses within hours offering exactly the time I wanted.
