Anyone have a picture of the Pool Slide located in the Falls? Is the Falls currently being remodeled? I think I read you don't want to be in the Falls but my kids would love a pool slide and I like the idea of being close to a pool that isn't overly crowded. (But I'm going Memorial Day weekend 2005 so I'm not sure any place will be uncrowded!) If the Falls is not being remodeled, is there another place I could stay that would still be walking distance to the pool with a waterslide? I'll need to be in one of the 2BR units that sleeps 8 as oppose to 6. I've never been to Orlando during a crowded time and I think I might be overwhelmed by the size of the resort and number of people before I even enter a park! Thanks for any help.

Here is their website with a link to open a resort map in the "Resort" section along the left column.

With that, you can see which areas are closest to which pools. The Falls section is in the upper left corner of their resort map. The closest section with really nice rooms for 8 is probably "Cascades" - a very easy walk to any of the pools except for Lakes/Fountains. A lot of kids like the Cascades pool too, since it has a waterfall and squishy-floored interactive fountains. The slide at the Falls is short, steep and very zippy. Very young children (preschool) probably would not enjoy it as much as 7-11 year olds. There's so much else to do at this resort that kids/teens of all ages would enjoy a week there. We haven't been back in several years (we try a new place each time) so can't comment on the refurbishment schedule. HTH! :)

Thanks for all the information! Sounds like my 4 and 6 year old might be too young for the slide anyway. Have you been to the Resort on a crowded holiday weekend? I've read some complaints about crowds, any idea how it will be on a Memorial day weekend? We are going May 27-Jun 3, 2005. Thanks again.

ps Is there a place for young kids to ride bikes, away from cars?

If it's the same pool slide that they had when we went 3 years ago, my DS (age 4 at the time) LOVED it. I believe it was enclosed so I didn't worry about him falling off.

We stayed at the Vistana in the Lakes section, which had a really nice, zero-entry pool but no slide. My oldest child wanted a slide, so we packed up our stuff and schlepped over to the Falls pool and he used the slide all of about 5 minutes. There isn't much to it -- my son was 8 at the time and I think he was a little too old for it -- I think its best for smaller kids. We ended up packing back up and going back to the Lakes pool, which was a much nicer pool all around.

The pool slide isn't short, steep and zippy anymore. It's short, and boring actually. It's now an enclosed tube, versus an open slide. I expect they did that for safety reasons; the one they had when we first stayed there 6 years ago was not the safest slide in the world. But now they have one of those green tubes.
Any of the sections besides Lakes and Fountains is close to the waterslide pool. I would definitely reccomend trying to get into Spas, or Cascades however, because those have the BEST locations. Courts is also very convieniently (sp?) located, however those are older. I do think they have been redone though, since the inside of the unit we were in looked very new. Any of those sections will sleep 8 in the 2 bedrooms, I believe. The one we were in in Courts had 2 sofabeds (queens), 2 twins, and a king. The other 2 units we've been in (in Spas and Cascades) had 1 queen sofabed, 2 double beds and a king. But back to the original question, request a unit anywhere besides fountains or lakes, and you'll have a location within walking distance of the falls pool.
