Sheraton Sand Key resort in Clearwater Beach

Just back...had an awesome time!

The hotel was great, we would recommend and hope to go back again.

We ate one night at the Daquiri Deck, about 10 miles or so south of the hotel, twice at Crabby Bill's, once a few miles south of the hotel and the second time at the one by Pier 60. Also ate in the hotel, had room service for breakfast twice (30 minutes or its free) and ran to Dunkin Donuts for bagels next to the Marriott.

We liked that the beach was a bit of a walk from the pool deck, I know some people didn't like that. The people working down by the beach were very nice and there was even a girl in a cart taking drink and food orders so you didn't have to go back to the pool bar. The older gentleman working in the hut were you rent the chairs and umbrellas was very nice to talk to. We rented a jet ski for 1/2 hr which was alittle pricey but well worth it, something we've never done before.

My husband and daughter did get VERY burnt from the sun even with lots of SPF50 so be careful. The sun was brutal this week.
Welcome back and after reading what you said, it sounded like you and your family had a great time. My family and I will be in Clearwater Beach before WDW, so we are looking forward to it.

Also since you were just there, I was wondering what is the construction like on Gulf Blvd?

I am terrible with road names but....the road that the hotel is on, there was no construction anywhere near the hotel. There was road construction with lane closures about 10-12 miles south near John's Pass shopping village. The traffic was non existant the day we were down there. There was also some road construction near Pier 60 but the traffic was always moving.

Thank you for posting that information. :thumbsup2

We just went to the beach for dinner last night. Gulf Blvd was closed from just south of the marina all the way down to where the adams mark hotel once was. Traffic was being detoured and NOT moving around 7pm. Took us about 30 minutes to get through.

Finally got frustrated and just kept driving down to Indian Rocks beach. Ate at "The Pub" which was very good, and a great view right on the intercoastal.

That's the main reason we like Sand Key - we don't have to deal with all the Clearwater Beach construction and traffic. I'd much rather drive a little farther south to find a nice restaurant than deal with that mess. It seems like they've been working on it FOREVER! Fortunately, we used to live in the area, so we know our way around very well and can avoid the worst spots.

Before my parents move to Clearwater, they wouls stay at the Sheraton Sand Key and loved it. We also stayed there and loved it as well, so I'm glad youdecided to stay!

For those of you who will be going, there is AWESOME food at a little restaurant called Gondoleirs. It is located in Clearwater Beach right after the bridge coming from Sand Key. It is in a little shopping center with the Walgreens and a Tourist SOuvenir shop. The food is always great and breakfast is my favorite, because they make t he BEST oatmeal you have ever tasted! Its a secret homemade recipe and it is to die for!

let me know if you ever visit there, and especially if you get the oatmeal!

The Gondolier is one of my familes favorite restaurants, so we always make sure that we go there. However we always go there for dinner.
