I just got the 3 star Sheraton Safari Hotel on Priceline for $55. Can anyone tell me if that is a good deal, and if it's a nice hotel? Also, is it in a pretty decent area? We aren't even going to be checking in until abot 1 a.m, and it's only for 1 night. I'm pretty excited. I just wanted to see if any of you guys have stayed here and could tell me anything about it. Thank You All for your help.

I suggest you post this over on the Orlando area hotels board. I had similar question about this property a couple of months back and got some feedback there from some knowledgeable folks.

I think $55 per night is a good deal there. I stayed ther before I knew anything about disboards or anything else and paid $99 per night! I stayed there 3 years ago so my memory is dim, but I remember being able to walk to a Pizza Hut next door. There was a Manhattan Bagel across the street which is where we got breakfast each morning. They have a great pool slide. I think you'll be happy there.

Are you an SPG member? You might be able to get an upgraded room but not sure though since it is a Priceline reservation. This hotel has the Sheraton guarantee. We had a very slight problem with our AC (not mechanical - the cover kept slipping off) and the staff was very attentive. They also said they were converting their beds to Sweet Sleepers. I haven't stayed since last August so I can't confirm this. We had a clean, 1 bedroom suite. (two queen beds and a pullout sofa) It also had a kitchenette - small refrig, microwave and sink. My ds loved the pool. The only thing I didn't care for was the little (and I mean little) convenience store. But, that is not a dealbreaker. Since we stayed on points, I was not critical at all. I think I would pay around $75-$100 cash for the larger room so I think you got a good deal.

I had a great stay - beds were awesome, balcony with view of pool, etc. I got 2 nights at a AAA rate of $75/night and 1 night FREE with Starwood points. Really convenient, very close to DTD.

Would stay there again in a heartbeat!!! :teeth:

hi, dont know if you have heard, but the hotel be be having a total renovation begining in august through till october 04, they say that there should not be any disruptions to guests though. susie

I've never stayed there, but it looks nice. I remember it being right outside WDW property if you exit from Hotel Plaza Blvd. by Downtown Disney, and take a left and it was not too far down.

I'm going to disney world tomorrow(whoohoo) and staying at the sheraton safari. thank you for the great reviews TINK61 and travelin tigger!

Thank All of you for helping me out. I am happy with everything I have read. Now I get to leave earlier than my countdown timer. So I am off in the morning. Talk to you all when I get back. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_1_13.gif' alt='Beach Party' border=0></a>

I fixed my countdown timer. It's right now. And it looks alot better.

I can't believe you got this hotel for $55! What an unbelievable deal! I would be very happy if I were you. We stayed there approx. 3 years ago. The location was great, the room was large and gorgeous. It was impecably clean (disney standard clean) and the pool was so much fun. We stayed a week and really really enjoyed ourselves. We didn't want to leave to go to the parks! Have a great time. By the way, we paid $100 a night 3 years ago and I felt that it was a good value - so you really made out. Have no doubts!

We stayed there about 3 years ago too and paid $99/nite. We had a poolview room and it was great. The kids loved the pool! If I remember correctly, the Olive Garden is close by too. Your rate of $55 is a great deal!

I stayed there four years ago for a conference and really enjoyed the hotel. There are a number of restaurants nearby and the entrance to DTD is very close.

We stayed here two months ago and really enjoyed this hotel. It's very close to DD! $55 is a great rate for this property. I'm sure you will have a great time.

we just got back from disney today. the sheraton safari was wonderful. I highly recomend it. My kids loved the python water slide and the pool. I loved the beds!i have stayed in alot of hotels and usually have a hard time sleeping, slept like a baby here. They live up to the "sweet dreams" name. We had a great room on the top floor overlooking the pool(59.00 a night thru AAA) there is a sizzler and pizza hut right next to the hotel. shoney's, macaroni grill and joe's crab shack across the street or within walking distance. dunkin donuts across the street also. Also palm parkway which is the road next to the hotel has restaurantson it. downtown disney is 5 minutes away. magic kingdom and epcot 10 or 15 minutes away. just great, hope this helps anyone looking to stay here

We are only going to be in Orlando one night and going to Sea World before we hit the beach.... We have been looking at hotel and DD is set on staying at the Sheraton Safari!! That slide was the selling point. She is a fearless 6 year old and is 44 inches tall.

Are they strict on the height requirment???:( I was told when I called that it is 48 inches, but that if we were there to supervise they would let her go down.

I would just hate to get there and then she not be allowed... She would be extremely upset:sad:

I don't want to deal with that...;) She is an excellent swimmer and I also have a suit with a flotation device built in that I could bring.

What do you think?? Anyone else have experience with this?

Nothing was ever said about my ds going down it who was only 38" when we were there last January. He was wearing water wings and the only life guard type person we saw around the pool was a guy selling big animal floats and he never looked concerned in the least.

We stayed at the Sheraton Safari a few years ago and we paid $109/nite with a pool view, so you got a great deal for $55/night. We had a wonderful time and loved the hotel. The rooms were clean and the pool was great, our kids loved it. I thought the restaurant was a little pricey, but since you got the $55 rate, it will even out. I can't say enough great things about it. We are going in November and are booked at the Embassy Suites as they offer a full complimentary breakfast. Also, we are travelling with another couple and they require 2 beds AND a pullout sofa as they have a son and daughter. Otherwise, I'd stay at Sheraton Safari again.

Enjoy!
