Hi All,

Just wondered if anybody had returned from this hotel recently, I have been looking on the net and have found a number of bad reports on this hotel complaining about the shabbiness of the rooms, how unclean the place is and that it should be down-graded.

Is there anybody out their can put my mind at rest?

Thanks

:( Very sorry to see this. We've stayed for a few nights at the Sheraton Safari Oct 02 and Oct 03 and both times were pleased. We'd booked a package with VH and at £29 per night thought the rooms were fine for the couple of nights we stayed there (we wanted somewhere cheap since we would be moving out to stay onsite at Disney and Universal).

The pool is brilliant, the laundry facilities fine - and the location nr the Crossroads is great.

Last October when we were there they had started to renovate the building we were in. Who are you travelling with? Always worth voicing your concerns with them to see what their reaction will be.

If you've been looking on the US boards/Trip Advisor, don't panic too much. You tend to see many more negatives than positives on there. Couple of years back we were booked into the Wyndham Palace and Spa at LBV. I was nearly suicidal after checking out the US Boards and Trip Advisor. The comments there were appalling. I even asked our own Simon Veness about it and he said not to worry. But I still did, phoned Virgin and they were astonished when I asked to be moved since they'd had no bad comments, just the opposite. I sent them page loads of faxes showing the bad comments - especially commenting on the mould, the bad smells, the stinky pool etc. etc. etc:(

We moved to the AKL instead (had a great time) but popped in for a look around the Wyndham while there. It was beautiful. The rooms we looked into were clean, smelt nice, the pool was lovely.

A lot of our American friends are very picky - and from what I can understand get fantastic rates on some of the hotel booking sites, so may be they get put into the not quite so nice rooms, or maybe their expectations are just (probably quite rightly) higher than ours.

But I am VERY fussy. For the price and the amount of time we stayed at the Safari, it was a good stay.

Hi Annie,

Thanks for your message. We are travelling with Virgin and we have got a suite. If it was just my family travelling I wouldn't be too fussed about it because you are only their for a few hours, but when you are making plans for other families you want everything to be perfect:rolleyes:

I would take some of the reviews on Trip Advisor and the like with a pinch of salt too. I booked a hotel before that was then slated on there but it was lovely :) :)

If you are really unhappy with your room when you get there, ask to be moved.

Cheers

Karen
