Sheraton Question

disneyagogo.........
What I said about the discounted sites is by no means carved in stone. I've just noticed that it happens many times. If there is availability in the newer sections----you could be placed there. From Vistana's perspective, if the newer units were available, it would be in their best interest to place people in them. A happy/satisfied guest is one who will return or spread the word to others. So fingers crossed for you ! Please report back ! Hope u have a great stay :)

Thanks for all the pix Mia! It looks like we have always been in the Falls section. The units haven't been bad, just farther away from the amenities and older. For example, the room layouts I have seen online all include a whirlpool tub in the master BD of a 2 BR unit but we have never had one in our units.

I will request Cascades or Springs next time. Thanks for the link to the form.

Sadly, and disappointingly Kim....Flamingo Cafe has been shut down. There is a Pizza Hut there now  I wrote a letter to the food management person at Vistana and have yet to receive a response or acknowledgement. I let him know I was not pleased with this change.

I've seen the Epcot fireworks from our Fountains Villa too. Also was able to see the Planet Hollywood restaurant in DD from another Fountains unit.

Oh....and even though they are not super close to eachother, being that they are "sister" resorts, you can use the facilities at each no matter which resort you choose. So if you end up, i.e., staying at the Villages, you can drive over to the main Vistana and use the facilities and amenities there. The guard will let you through the gates.

Thanks for the news, Maria! I TOTALLY didn't know about this change!!!! It doesn't really make sense to me, though. They already had a sufficient Pizza Hut order and delivery service, why make it an entire restaurant? Maybe Flamingo Cafe was always empty, and they couldn't keep up with the Pizza orders at the General Store?? :confused3

As I have said before, although I own at both and love both, I still find myself drawn to Vistana Resort. But with the whole new StarOptions valuation, I might find myself at Vistana Villages to save those extra StarOptions I have been given...but that's a WHOLE other thread, for a whole other board. :lmao:

not sure if I did this correctly? I did it through the website yeaterday ( for a June 18th check in) and haven't recd any type of confirmation - should I receive something via email? what do I take to the diamond lane check in desk ?

Hi Pooh. The only 2 bedroom villas that have the jacuzzi in the master BEDROOM are : Cascades, Lakes and Fountains II

All other have whirlpool tub in master bathroom.........

Tallvine....you most likely won't get a reply. I usually print my DL form out after I filled it out. Then take it to the Diamond Lane check-in desk . It's usually in their computer system. Keep in mind, DL check-in is only Fri to Sun (11 am to 7 pm).

Hope this helps :)

I'm going to the SVR in August, via RCI exchange, just filled out my Diamond Lane check in e-mail and I did get a reply about 24 hours later.
Also, I have stayed at both SVV and SVR and in my opinion there is no comparision, apples and oranges. That being said, I do like staying at SVR, everything is very nice, pools, villas, etc...But SVV is clearly a step above.

We've done the Diamond Lane check-in when we've stayed at the Resort. In August, it will be our first time staying at the Villages...do they offer this service there? Thanks for any info.;)

Our Diamond Lane request for Lakes or Cascades was NOT honored when we stayed at the VR. We booked our room on the Starwood site. We were not there at a busy time of year either.

since we're checking in June 18th ( a Wednesday) it sounds like Diamond Lane check in is not available.

Last time I stayed at SVR was mid August 2006 and my request was honored. I was placed in the Lakes section. I hope my request this time is honored also. Like I said on an earlier post, I filled out the Diamond Lane check in and recieved a email back thanking me for filling out the form, but she could not guarantee anything to me at this time.
Is there a lot of people staying here in mid August??? 2 years ago it seemed a little quiet to me. Are the kids down south in school yet?

Shamrock,
Even though it was a slower time at the resort, the Cascades and Lakes have the highest demand. Hoping with these new multi dollar rennovations, this will change a little. Cascades and Lakes will still have the step-up because they are elevator buildings. Owners get preference....but even still, if u had requested it and paid cash, did u specifically ask if there was availability in those sections ? I would push the issue---even request to speak to a manager next time. I am sorry you didn't get your requests.

Tallvine....you can still make your requests via the Diamond Lane but just won't be able to check-in at the DL window. You could also back up the request with a fax to the Room Controller about 3 days prior to arrival : Fax 407 239 3111

Hi Vinny ,
The southern schools should be in session mid August. My dd's college begins Aug 18 (she's going to FL Tech). We'll be at Vistana this year Aug 3-10.

Maria,
I have read many posts by you over the years about the Vistana and you give great information. I will be there August 10th to the 17th after my DCL Cruise. SVR and SVV are "sister resorts." Have you heard of anybody book a ressie in one resort and moved for whatever reason to the "other" resort???

Hi Vinny,
THanks for your kind words......glad to help where I can.

I have heard of people being moved but it's very rare. One incident several years ago comes to mind. It was during a hurricane or tropical storm and the person's villa was flooded and the resort was booked solid. They were moved to the Villages I believe, but not certain. I've also read of people asking to be moved and their requests turned down.

Have a great time at the two Vistana's !

Thank you for all of the pictures. I am a little disappointed about the allears.net rate being for the least desirable units. The rates for our stay beginning on June 13 have dropped twice and are now down to $129 without housekeeping. I rebooked yesterday due to the price drop and then canceled the previous reservation. I did the Diamond Lane request based on Maria's good advice and link

Disneyagogo.....
Someone on another thread who got the allears.net rate just reported they were placed in the Lakes ! Initially, they were going to get an older unit, but asked if they could be moved and their request was honored. So there is hope yet :thumbsup2
