I am up to my eyeballs in planning!!! Probally going crossed eyed from reading all of the posts but did not see a current responce about these 2 resorts. Here is my question.

We are visiting for 4 days in Sept - only doing Disney 1 day and staying at AKL for that night.... but we are also doing discovery cove. We have friends staying at bonnett creek. Love BC but want to try something different. Would prefer a 2 bedroon unit with great pool - waterslide is a must - I have 2 boys 9 and 11. Would you recomend the resort or the villages?

Thanks!

Sandy

We have never stayed at the Villages, but we own at Sheraton Vistana Resort. We adore it there. Large, spacious villas, gorgeous grounds, and wonderful amenities.

The Resort is a tad closer to Disney property than the Villages. The Villages is a tad closer to the SeaWorld parks than the Resort. Both are an easy drive to Universal.

The Villages has a pirate themed pool, which the Resort does not.

The Resort has 7 different pools, each with their own special features.

Cascades has splash fountains and a waterfall:

There is also this playground nearby (not adjacent, but fairly close to the pool area):

The huge Super pool has in-water volleyball nets and a consistently deep water depth:

The Falls pool has a slide and an adjacent playground:

The Courts pool is rather plain (no fountains, etc.) but tends to be a nice play to go for a "quiet" swim:

The Fountains pool offers a waterfall and shows movies on certain nights. I am pretty sure the Lakes pool is zero entry. There is also a pool in Springs. Unfortunately I don't have pics of those particular pools.

The pools at Fountains, Spas (the Super Pool) and Cascades are all open until 1 am. Those 3 pools also offer various poolside activities on different nights, from karaoke to massages to tye-dye t-shirts.

This thread is a GREAT resource for those seeking information on Sheraton Vistana Resort:

Lots of pics of the interior and exterior areas, and some awesome insider information from our resident expert, bankr63 :thumbsup2 .

Edited to add....just to confirm, you are comparison the Sheraton Vistana Resort to the Sheraton Vistana Villages, correct?

The Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort is a third property entirely:

You have responded to several of my questions this week! I REALLY appreciate it. Because we are doing so many similar things, I went back and read you entire trip report - it was wonderful! We are only staying for 1 week and I am trying to keep to a tight budget - do you mind if I share my plans with you? Any input that you might have would be great.

Saturday arrive in Orlando - staying with friends - relaxing dinner at home

Sunday - still with friends - the boys want to watch football - thinking maybe the ESPN at wide world of sports

Monday - we move to the Animal kingdom Lodge - this was a big splurge for us. Paid around $340 for a Club level room and plan on spending the entire day at the lodge - Dinner at Sanaa

Tuesday us going to be spent at The Animal Kingdom - it is the one park my boys have not been to.

Tuesday night - checking in at Bonnet Creek - 2 bedroom unit. I was ale to use my Citi credit card rewards point for this part of our trip - staying here until Sunday.

Wednesday - Discovery Cove

Thursday - open - to be determined...possible gator land and air boat OR Sea World.

Friday - Aquatica

Sat - check out an head home

What do you think? any recommendations?

Thanks!

Sandy

Since you are doing AKL club level, I hope you are doing the Sunrise Safari if Tuesdays are one of the days it's available.

Just to be clear, you may not be talking about the same properties. Sheraton has a hotel property in the area called the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort very near to DTD, as well as two timeshare properties called Sheraton Vistana Resort and Sheraton Vistana Villages. From your title it sounds like you may be looking at the first one (SLBV hotel). Gina's post is referring to the second one (SVR)

I (perhaps erroneously!) assumed she was looking at the Sheraton Vistana Resort in Lake Buena Vista (vs. the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort....good gravy, could they not have come up with some different names for these properties?) as they referenced a 2 bedroom unit in the first post. I don't think the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort has 2 bedroom units...just regular guest rooms and junior suites:
