Sheraton Anaheim
900 South Disneyland Drive
Anaheim, CA 92802

NOTE THAT THE LOBBY HAS BEEN UPGRADED SINCE THESE PICTURES AND THIS THREAD WILL BE UPDATED

The Sheraton Anaheim is located on the "back side" of Disneyland, and really isn't within walking distance. The hotel is a superior hotel, and has their own shuttle to the parks. There is also a $10/night parking fee when you stay at the hotel.

The Sheraton is styled after a Tudor Castle. There are murals of the world's castles along the corridors.

This is a beautiful hotel, with a huge lobby that has a stream down one side of it with Koi.

Off of the lobby is the reception area, the gift shop, and the dining bistro.

The hotel has a game room, fitness center, heated pool, jacuzzi, restaurant, and lounge. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with fountains, a gazebo, and koi ponds. There is also an outside patio where you can enjoy the paper with a bite to eat, or nice conversation with friends.

The rooms are the largest in the area, and use the "Heavenly beds" with a pillow mattress. They are sooo comfortable. Rooms include room service, cable TV, coffee maker, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, in-room safe, wireless internet access, and desk. Connecting rooms are available, and there are also bi-level suites. Refrigerators upon request for a nominal fee. You access your rooms through interior corridors, but some rooms also have a door that opens to the courtyard gardens, which I found to be rather a nice touch.

thank you thank you thank you!!!

I remember driving by this hotel like 4 years ago and thinking it was beautiful but never had a chance to look inside, and now with those photos, wow!

Couldn't tell from the photo, how was the bathroom size?

Reliable shuttle? It seems like a loooooonnnnnggggg walk to the parks otherwise.

Do all of the rooms have the heavenly beds or is that something to ask for?

Would any of the rooms have a park view?

I have so many questions, I really want to know about this place!!

I thought the bathroom was a decent size, but the bedrooms themselves are really big. Last year, they were upgrading all of the rooms to have heavenly beds. I don't know if they're done, but I would ask just to be sure.

I also have a pic of the pool that I will add tonight.

Personally, I was impressed with this hotel, and I like it best after the DL Resort hotels. The grounds are beautiful.

I was reading some reviews, and read that you could see the fireworks from the pool area. The south facing rooms look out towards Disneyland, but you really can't see the park. However, they would be great for watching the fireworks.

In addition to the bistro on site, there is a Spaghetti Station across a quiet street that you could walk to.

The Sheraton has its own shuttle that leaves every half hour, I understand.

We stayed there two nights earlier this month. I was very impressed as well. The rooms are huge and very, very clean. The bathroom is small, but for three of us, it was fine. The shuttle is very reliable, it takes longer than I thought to get to DL - about 12 minutes, mostly due to traffic. The day we checked out we had breakfast in the restaurant. Eggs Benedict, Corned Beef hash and eggs, some fruit and one glass of milk for $22 or so. The food was excellent! They have a buffet, but it is $12.95 pp not including drink, we thought the menu offered more. The Koi ponds are beautiful and the staff is very nice. The first day our DD18 had a sandwich and drink from their little store and charged it to our room ($8) and it was not on our bill when we checked out, I asked about it and the front desk clerk said "if it's not on the bill, there is no charge" and I said I didn't want anyone to get into trouble - like if the ticket was missing our room info or something and she said "no worries!". That was an added surprise, hey, I tried to do the right thing! We loved our stay there.

Thank you so much for the wonderful reviews of this hotel. We were thinking of trying to book a Sheraton near DL for a few nights in November. Sounds like this might do the trick for us, especially if he can book it with points! :flower:

THANKS again! The pics are great!

Thanks for the pics Mary Jo. I satyed there a few years ago and while I really liked it I thought the rooms were a bland and generic. They look very nice now.

I am a Starwood Preferred Guest and I am thinking of staying at the Sheraton in December when I am planning a trip to Disneyland. I am also going to Disney World in late Sept and will be staying in an Epcot Hotel - WDW Swan - also a Starwood Hotel as is the Sheraton and they also have the Heavenly bed. One thing I know is important in Disney World is being in a hotel on property. While I know that the Swan is not a true WDW resport, it has all the priveleges that a Disney owned property does.

This is where my lack of knowledge on Disneyland comes in. I have never been to Disneyland and I am not sure how important it is to stay at a Disney Resort as opposed to the Sheraton. I plan on spending 4 nights there and would like to stay on property, but the prices are quite a bit higher than the Sheraton which looks like a great hotel - plus they have the Heavenly beds... That in mind, can anyone tell me the benefits of staying on property at Disneyland beyond the obvious of being in walking distance and the theming of Disney? Is that alone worth the premium?

Thanks!

I usually stay onsite because I do love the Disneyland Hotel. But the perks don't add up anywhere near the way they do at WDW. In fact many of the offiste hotels are closer. As much as I love the Disneyland Hotel sometimes I just won't pay $200 a night to stay there. While I have never stayed at the Sheraton we are planning on staying there in June 2006. We are planning on staying over a week and the cost of onsite would be so high I just can't justify it. After seeing this thread I really want to give the Sheraton a try. I think you will be just as happy there. With the money you save you can have a really nice time and buy a lot of Mickey Bars! Besides it looks kind of Disney themed with that castley look. You can always visit the Disney properties to do a character meal and enjoy the magic without the nightly pricetag!

Thank you!!!!!! The pictures are awesome!

I will be staying there in May after the repositioning cruise.

Thanks for the information on how long the shuttle takes. I had called a month or so ago and was told that they left every half hour and 18 minutes after the park closes.

Can not wait!

Debbie

I just came back from a 3 night stay there. It was nice but I think the rooms are a little dated. The heating/cooling system uses main piping, so that either all the rooms get hot water to heat the rooms or cold water to cool. On moderate temp days, it was difficult to get the room feeling just right. I have two disappointments tho:

1. no high speed internet access in the room

2. closet was very small and exposed. I see in the pictures that there is mirrored sliding glass doors, however, we did not have any doors nor was there signs of a track for one.

**warning** There is only one bus leaving for early park hours. Do not be a minute late, as it was the only time the shuttle was exactly on time.

So I have the "lowes first platinum" card, would this work for the Sheraton property?

I just wanted to mention that when I drove by in October that the Spaghetti Station restaurant, previously mentioned, across from this hotel has been torn down. A sad moment for me. It has been there for years. We had my Dad's 70th birthday party there. It will be missed. I am curious to see what the plans are for the site, anyone know?

so...what did they put where the spaghetti joint used to be?:)

have read posts that there's not much "off-site" dining in this area other than treking to DTD; true?

I don't think anything is there right now - just an empty lot. The lobby has been redone since I put up these pics. I miss the koi pond, but it's still a nice lobby. I'll try & update these pics this weekend.

i took a peek on SatelliteViews.net (easier than google imo) today; see there's just an empty triangular bit of land as you head to Harbor, was that the spot?

i'm currently torn between this hotel & HoJos-park view (SA is only about $25 more/day than current rates for my dates via a prepaid option).

DH/DS are lobbying for the ParkVue suite with flat screen tv & fake fireplace :confused3 location can't be beat; just worried about security issues in such a busy spot.

I'm used to a long haul to WDW parks when staying onsite, 1/2 hour commute is a good thing;) ; so a 10 -15 bus trip is no biggie in my mind. Although, it does seem to be somewhat isolated from restaurants on Harbor (millies, mimis, etc.). Would be nice if the shuttle dropped off on a a spot nearby for that purpose. Road looks busy, will we get run over if we tried to walk over to grab a bite to eat?

Overall, the SA just seems a bit more themed/elegant/quiet? Although i do see that there is a highway running near it too.

I'll be staying at the Sheraton this Saturday night, so I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and post a review. :thumbsup2
I'm really excited about staying there though. It looks wonderful.

it is a very peaceful hotel...and as far as comparing Sheraton to Hojo??? there is none...now dont get me wrong...I love the hojo...its great especially when you are trying to go on a minimal budget but you cant compare anything between these 2...
