Hi Gang

The last 2 times we went to WDW we stayed at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel at Pearson. I just wanted to mention that we found this a really great place to stay and really takes some of the stress out of leaving Canada. For us we have a now DS7 and DD4. It was REALLY handy to go up the day before you leave, take your time and relax before the flight. I can't stand being rushed before I leave on a trip. I can't remember the cost perhaps $129 and for us was well worth it. Instead of getting up at 2-3 in the morning and driving to Pearson, we got up at around 6 and took the transportation to our terminal.

We're now SPG gold members and the last time we stayed at this hotel we were automatically upgreaded to the club level. I didn't have to mention it. Not a super huge deal but it was a nice touch. Our room was great allowing our kids to watch the planes take off and land and at the same time not hear the planes at all. The CL lounge was nice too.

From what I understand they've now built a "monorail" from the Sheraton to Pearson. I'm not sure where the monorail goes. Can someone offer any knowledge here??

Anyway, I just wanted to give our $0.02 on this hotel and it's convenience. I'd be curious of what others have thought?

I've stayed there a couple of times including on our wedding night before a morning transatlantic flight (8 years ago), so yes, I think highly of the idea :-)

Glad to hear you were able to get a decent rate -- the last few times I've searched, I've seen rates of $250-$300+. Maybe they've gone down with the construction? Do you have any tips for getting a decent rate. I'd definitely do it again if we were flying out of Pearson (probably domestically or overseas, since we tend to fly out of Buffalo for US bound flights).

(I also spent part of a very long layover hanging out in the Sheraton restaurant and lobby, and it made a 15+ hour trip a lot more pleasant.)

Wow, I just checked the rates for next June and it's at least $250. Ouch. They've really gone up since when we stayed in 2005. I guess they have to pay for that monorail somehow! ;)

The "monorail" is part of the GTAA's airport transportation system. It goes from the Long Term Parking Lot, Terminal 3 and then to Terminal 1.

We stayed there last year before our very early morning flight. We got it off Hotwire and I think it was $79.

Hey RedRuby

This has really bugged me to the point of composing an email directly to the Sheraton Gateway directly. I was thinking I'd have to consider another hotel around Pearson simply because of the cost. However I came across their website hidden under the starwood website. I checked the rates there and viola found the rates I was used to starting at $129 per night. I was shocked when I saw the prices at the starwood site starting at $250-300 per night. Now that would be outragous for that hotel.

Anyway... check out this site http://specialoffers.starwoodhotels.com/sheratongatewaytoronto/so.htm?IM=PP_LHN_SOP_US_SI_692&. On the left hand side under "Room and Rates" enter your dates and you'll see the rates that I see.

This was one of the things I was trying to confirm. So if I stay at the Sheraton Gateway hotel the night before our trip to WDW, can we get on the monorail from the hotel and be dropped off at our terminal? Sorry for my ignorance, I just want to know. :goodvibes

Stayed there 2 times and thought it was great. Once was planned another time was due to a missed flight. Can't comment on the hotel so much, since all I did was sleep. Can't beat the location.

Essentially, yes.

The Sheraton is connected to Terminal 3 (so no need to take the Link train - monorail - if you're flight is out of terminal 3).

If your flight is out of terminal one, you can take the train from the hotel lobby to T1.
