She Stinks!

My DD (7) called me after school today, very excited and tells me that she needs to start using deoderant because, as she said, "Me stink!" She was all proud because she is growing up. I guess it's time to buy some teen spirit for her.

This is right about the time last year that my DS (8) started needing it, too.

My Mom and my sister were in the background laughing at how excited she was.

Congratulations on her "stinkyhood" and also being wise about her personal hygeine. When I'd visit my girls for lunch at school, my nose could tell the difference between a crowd of first graders and a crowd of fourth graders easy.

My 10 yo has 4 different things of deodorant in her room (I found a sale and I didn't want her to tell me she didn't have any deodorant). She still wants to use mine though.

my 10 year old dd came home from 5th grade just yesterday and told us that the teacher made a classroom announcement that everyone needed to wear deoderant. At first I thought it a little strange, but then I remembered being trapped in a car with him and 3 of his friends. WHEW!!

God help you, RUDisney, my DD started "stinking" at 7 too, and now at 10 "womanhood" is not far behind, sigh. They grow up REALLY fast any more....

Wow, so young! I had no idea. DS will be soon be six, I thought I had a long time to wait till I had to deal with that! Guess not. It goes by just too darn fast!

When I was a school nurse,one of my jobs was talking to fourth graders about personal hygeine. Everyone also got a deodorant sample and a plain-spoken hygeine book. Some of those kids were really rank! I'm sure the teacher felt he had to make that announcement out of self defense. The fourth and fifth grade rooms frequently had a certain "bouquet"- and I ain't talkin bout pleasing!
